We all agreed that the incredible, ever-changing views from Villa Gaia were one of the highlights of our 2-week stay in Sorrento. The villa is very spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. We were a bit concerned about the lack of air con but it wasn't necessary, even in 30C+ heat. It's a bit difficult to find - Emilio and Gaia had to come and find us on their motorcycle - and access by car is a bit tricky - not for the faint-hearted parker! Emilio is lovely and brought us fresh pastries every morning when he came to clean the pool, which was very generous and welcome. We enjoyed the informality of Le Colline and the free Carsalona music festival (in August), a short walk down the road. The only extra we would have appreciated on day one from Emilio was instructions on where to shop for food and where to park in Sorrento, but we worked it out. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.
A beautiful Villa
We spent 2 weeks at the villa in late July 2018 and it was a marvellous place to enjoy a relaxing break in the sun . The villa itself has everything you need and has stunning views across the bay looking down on Sorrento , with beautiful sunsets to enjoy every evening . The location is more suitable for those having a car but be aware the road is narrow to the villa and parked cars mean it is not possible to access the parking at the villa with anything but a very small car . This was not advertsised . We didn't want to hire a car so tended to walk down the narrow cobbled Via Festola to the centre which took about 30 minutes all downhill . Be careful of the scooters and cars coming up and down past you as they dont slow down lol . Once in Sorrento you can enjoy wonderful shopping and dining facilities before taking a taxi back to the villa which takes just over 5 minutes . It is very expensive compared to the UK , the fare was anything fro 24-28 Euros for the journey so walking down and taxi back was preferable to us bearing in mind we stocked up at the supermarket each time . Getting to the villa from the airport was easy and Bruno arranged the transfers , unfortunately the taxi drivers didnt have a clue where the villa was situated or even the road it was in and didn't use satnav which was a shame as it delayed our journey there a bit . Bruno and Emilio were very helpful during our stay and even brought in supplies of coal for the amazing BBQ when we needed them . The pool is lovely and heated by the sun every day so not at all cold , its also cleaned daily . The bedrooms are on the lower floor and lead out onto a lovely grassed terrace which is great for sunbathing . They are also cool in the shade with ceiling fans which make sleeping very comfortable . My daughter and her husband stayed with us on our second week using the second bedroom which was decorated mainly for young children which wasn't as grand as the main bedroom but suitable nontheless . All in all a very enjoyable holiday and I'd recommend it for a family to stay in .
Amazing sea views
Amazing sea (and Vesuvius) views and comfortable villa. Would have been helpful to have a document or folder containing useful information i.e nearest supermarket etc (although we had owner's mobile number and he was helpful when asked). Access road to villa very narrow, and location a little further from central Sorrento than implied; a 10-15 minute drive.
A welcome pack would have been nice - dishwasher tablets, soap, toilet roll etc were all in the house, but bread, milk, water etc to get started on our first evening would have been a much appreciated added touch.
An amazing place to discover real italy!
The property in the hillside overlooking Sorrento was just perfect! The pool was the centre of attraction for our 7-year old and cannot fault anything ... even Pappa come to check on the tomatoes adjacent to the villa and gave us a lift down to the town centre .. something authentically like from an olive-oil advert on the television ... he was 83 years old! Highly recommended as an amazing place to stay. The property is large and loads of room for everyone! Highly recommended.
Good location - magnificent views!
Villa Gaia is the perfect place to discover the Amalfi coast - most highlights are in a reasonable distance. The house itself is perfectly equipped, provides phantastic views and quiet holidays just 1km away from Sorrento city life. Special thanks to the friendly owner and - perfect for colder nights in Winter and Spring time - the central heating system.
Beautiful villa hidden away with a stunning view
Once we met Bruno at Piazza Antonino, he showed us the way to the villa from the main square of Sorrento. This was a fantastic idea as it not only allowed us to see the way from the town to the villa, he pointed out various supermarkets and restaurants on the way which was greatly appreciated. The drive from Sorrento to the villa is incredibly easy once you've done it a couple of times. The villa itself is perfect, with a large secured area to easily park two cars. We made great use of the BBQ area and the various outside seating. Everywhere is beautifully decorated inside and out. The view was absolutely breath taking everywhere on the first level, with the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, even from the living room! Having the bedrooms downstairs is wonderful as it's so cool down there. The villa is very well equipped with everything you could need, even Sky TV and WiFi, and is so spacious. The pool was fantastic, it's a great size and was used a lot! Having an outside shower is a plus too. My only point to be aware of is that the villa is 'off the beaten track' as even taxi drivers had to discuss where it was and the road is quite narrow, though an 8 seater managed to get down to the villa no problem! That's really the only 'fault' I can think of, and it really didn't hinder our holiday at all and if anything it was much nicer to be away from the hustle!
