Our beautiful 1878 home has four lovely bedrooms and two bathrooms, one on each floor. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed and is located right next to the main floor bathroom. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms have two twin beds each and our largest room has enough space for two twin beds and one full sized with room left over! (twin beds can be easily moved next to each other....just ask!) We supply all linens and towels for your stay. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you would need for you and your family plus extra entertaining items in the case that you may want to entertain during your stay. You may bring your food in and cook and bake here at The Gathering Place, or have one of our fine caterers in our area assist you with your meals. We have a full size refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, dishwasher and deep freeze for your use. Dishes, utensils, coffee pots, serving trays and platters, baking and cooking pans, pitchers, wine glasses, crock pots, blender, mixer and toaster are just a few of the items available for your use. The kitchen is stocked with kitchen linens, paper towels, dish and dishwasher soap, garbage bags, coffee, creamer, sugar, salt and pepper. The living room is decorated with a vintage flair and the dining room can be set up before your stay with enough seating to accommodate our guests. Tablecloths are also available to our guests. For your relaxation, our den has comfy seating and a 32' screen TV and DVD player. An assortment of movies, books and games are there for your use as well during your stay. Just off the den and the kitchen is our Buffet Room. This room can be used for crafting, playing games or for extra space for buffets during meal time. The washer and dryer is located in the mudroom next to the kitchen. From there you will walk outside into our charming fenced in backyard. A deck with a patio set is there to enjoy your morning coffee, dine outside or to just relax. Flowers that bloom all summer long add beauty to the eyes and a slight fragrance to the air. The Gathering Place also has a gas grill and yard games for you to use and enjoy!
My name is Cindy Tripp and I have lived in the Sioux Falls area all of my life. I grew up just south of Sioux Falls on a farm and attended Harrisburg School. My husband Lyle and I have three great kids and live just 10 minutes from The Gathering Place! For several years I have dreamed of owning a home that I could rent out for events and private gatherings. As time went on I realized the need, not only for a venue for smaller events, but also for a house that could be rented for overnight stays. Many families, business workers, brides and grooms, and gals needing a get-away for the weekend have used The Gathering Place for a night, a weekend or a week!
Cindy Tripp purchased this house in 2010
The moment I walked into this house I knew it was the one! The high ceilings and openness of the living room/dining room area are just what I had hoped for. Not to mention the beautiful hardwood floors. The spaciousness of the house is wonderful, but yet we feel we have created a cozy feel with the decor and furniture.
What can I say....I fell in love with the front porch, the hardwood floors, the high ceilings, the absolutely beautiful windows in the living room, the fenced in backyard, the great location, and the claw foot tub! :)
We stayed here for our son's wedding and, while it was not our first choice, it turned out to be the perfect choice. Our hope was to get our family in the same living space and have the rehearsal dinner (42 people) there as well. The house accommodated 12 of us very well and worked wonderfully for the dinner. Cindy and Lyle were very helpful with all of our needs. If you like the shiny and new, this might not meet your expectations. The home is downtown and historical (137 years old) and is well maintained. It is roomy enough to entertain a large group and Cindy has furnished it with plenty of tables, chairs, plates, etc. to make it happen. Now that we have family in Sioux Falls, we may have need of it again.
The Gathering Place is located very near downtown in Sioux Falls, SD. Our location is very convenient to many restaurants, museums, and stores. Just a little farther east (you may want a car for this) you will find 8th and Railroad where many wonderful and unique stores can be found. Being a couple of miles off of I-29 interstate, it is quick and easy to find your way to our Empire Mall and many other shopping opportunities on the west side of Sioux Falls. The stores downtown are quaint and fun to shop at, but when you have all of them conquered you may want to check out our mall! If you want to take in a movie, Sioux Falls has three nice cinemas that house several theaters each. One of my favorites is antiquing! There are several antique and vintage stores both near The Gathering Place (one at 8th and Railroad) and a short distance away. Shopping and movies not your thing? Falls Park is a beautiful place to spend part of your day or check out the Washington Pavillion that has great activities for kids and wonderful shows for families and adults.
