Private with rustic cabin and campsite on a pristine mountain stream on the South and another stream on the West - YES, two streams! There are trails, mountains, lakes, rivers, streams and amenities all nearby (1 to 5 miles.) In the heart of white-water rafting, biking, fishing, hiking or water sports activities. Off a major ITS snowmobile trail for Winter or ATV trail. Stunningly beautiful country. The cabin is 12 x 18 with a wood-stove, propane heater, recliner, table/chairs and bunk bed. There is an outdoor fireplace, additional fire-pit and available firewood ($5 per bundle.) The campsite will easily accommodate multiple tents and/or pop-up camper (sorry no campers over 20'). Cabin sleeps three (bring tents/air mattresses for up to 6.) There's also a separate outhouse. Water may be carried from the stream (potable with light filtering.) Bring your own linen, food and beverages. Cook up breakfast on the outdoor open-fire grill or head to the village only two miles away for some amazing down-home fresh donuts or full mom & pops breakfast. Sign-up for nearby white-water rafting, ride the ATV trails, head for the lake nearby or simply relax on the stream with your feet in the water soaking up some sun while listening to the water flow over the rocks. Enjoy the campfire at night and watch the stars in the clear skies of Maine. This is summer as it should be. Sit in the natural stream pool on a hot summer day! My kids and I had a wonderful stay.
It was everything we were hoping it would be. We wanted to disconnect from the workd for a weekend and have an experience like none other. My boys learned how to live with minimal things. We were able to reconnect as family and had to learn to work together to cook on a wood stove and to build a fire. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the family game nights with story telling and making popcorn on the stove. We will do this trup again! The place was beautiful and clean with an amazing river flowing just outside the cabin. The sounds of nature helped pit us right to sleep. Having to use an outhouse was also a fun part of our experience! This place is perfect for anyone wanting to jump back in time and to see what life used to be like! Its a great place to unplug and to get back to nature!
We are so pleased of your wonderful stay at our private, rustic getaway! We'll look forward to see you again in 2019!!
This place is VERY rustic!
We stayed from Saturday to Monday. Michael came not long after we got there to explain everything to us. He told us to use the camper for going #1 and the outhouse for #2. There is a step in front of the outhouse toilet which makes it difficult to get onto the seat. The toilet in the camper was fine to use for its purpose. The camper itself is pretty old and I wasn't comfortable using any of the camper kitchen items as there was evidence of mice in the camper. You never know where those little critters have been wandering. In the cabin, there was more evidence of mice and our cat actually kept us awake both nights trying to catch them. There was a couple of them in the woodpile and some with a nest in a kindling box beside the wood stove. The propane heater did keep us warm enough. The best things about this place are the chairs by the stream and the fire pit. We were able to heat up some dinner in our cast iron pan on top of the fire grate. There was plenty of wood to keep the fire going during the day and evening. This spot is very private as the ad mentions. The driveway was a bit difficult to see but the directions were good. The town and general store are close enough for an early morning coffee run. The price was a little steep given what you get for it. I can't imagine us ever returning but it provided us with some good memories!
So happy about the great memories!! Confused about mention of our private, camper which is not part of the listing (not in the ad.) The isolated mouse issue has been resolved. Please review the listing (cozy, RUSTIC cabin) Thanks so much for your R&R stay at our little slice of Paradise stream-side in beautiful Maine
Rustic, off grid, scenic, relaxing getaway spot!
Nothing quite like the sound of the large stream to soothe the soul. Beautiful piece of property with complete privacy! Natural wading pool on the edge of the property was perfect to cool down in on a warm afternoon. I floated on my raft there for about an hour while families of ducks swam by and our pups jumped around in the water. The perfect outdoorsmans retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We are so pleased of your wonderful visit!
