Overview

About the property

This is a two bedroom, with also couch bed and pretty yard and nice neighbors.

Welcome to the shores of Lake Erie and one of the highest rated beaches on the North Coast. It is situated 10 min drive to the scenic east entrance to Cedar Point. 15 min from other Sandusky based attractions such as Kalahari water park, Great Wolf Water Park, and the endless attractions that are down town Sandusky. If you want some time to relax and step back to a more rustic era, the Fishing Port City of Vermilion is 10 min in the other direction. This quaint little town is quiet and stocked full of thrift shops, gift stores, and Museums of lake history. This is a good place to rent a paddle board or Kayak and go for a paddle on the Vermilion River or out into the lake, Charter a fishing trip from one of the marinas, Take a scenic boat ride on the Mystic Belle, sample beers of many flavors at the local tap houses, or enjoy a great Lake Erie Perch or Walleye diner on the banks of the historic river at Quaker Steak. The food and the culture of this little town is truly a step back in history. Two wold class fine dining experiences of Chez Francois and The Old Prague make this a great dinner time destination. These restaurants will impress and create a memory for years to come.

The main attraction is the Beach. It is shallow and sandy for nearly 100 yards out. It is private so it is never crowded. There are peers to pull up jet Skis and a launching facility at Cranberry Creek Marina right next to the community. Mounting and dismounting skis and jet boats are made easy under these condition. The beach itself is long and has plenty of room to set up a blanket or a chair. Benches overlooking the lake make viewing the sunset one of the most romantic places. The Community itself is within walking distance of two small pubs that are mostly frequented by other vacationers. A great place to meet new people and wind down after a day in the sun.

The house can be set up in various sleeping arrangements. Notification of your plans or desires before arrival will give us time to set things up to your liking and make sure you have enough beds. There is a grill and a sitting area open to all guests. There is heat as well as decorative fireplace. We live 10 min away and can be of service a needs and desires. Please let us know it there is anything more you would like to know or what we could do in the future to make guest vacation that much more memorable to your leisure. This is a new listing here and we are trying to get a feel for our guests.

  • 3 of 5

my family and i stayed here for a few days.although it could use a little repair and fixing up,we had a most enjoyable vacation.it was close to the beach and it was bug free, which is a good thing. got to meet the gentlman whoowns the property, very nice man. all in all we enjoyed our stay ,would stay here again. just got home a few days ago and am ready to go back.if this gentlman ever wants to sell this property, would be interested in buying it.

Really nice, could use some updating

  • 4 of 5

We really liked the property and it was in a great location. It was nice and quiet. Great to be able to walk to the lake. The front porch is great; my wife spent the entire day there. The price is very reasonable.

The reasons I did not give it five stars:

1. The house is dated and could use updates, although the kitchen has been updated.

2. No cable or satellite service. They have Roku, and we could not watch the olympics live.

3. Too many knick-knacks (dust catchers.)

These are really minor, as I would go back.

Please Read Before Renting

  • 1 of 5

This was an awful experience. The townhouse was filthy. I have pictures I wish I could post. I'm a single mom with 3 foster boys who had never been on vacation.we walked into an Infestation of bugs. Hair in the bathroom sink. Filthy kitchen with dirt and grime all over the refrigerator. I called the owner and told him about all the filth he argued with me. We lost all the food we bought for the week. We had to find a hotel in the middle of the night. Completely disgraceful.

Cute and cozy

  • 5 of 5

This lake cottage is clean, cute, and cozy. It is literally a short walk to the beach which is viewable from the front yard. Everything you could possibly need is here along with a washer and dryer. The sun room was our favorite. The neighborhood is quiet and a great place for families. Everyone is friendly. The owner is very pleasant and stopped by to see if everything fit our needs. It is within close proximity to all the tourist attractions including cedar point, And Sandusky but yet tucked away in a nice private community. This fit our needs perfectly and we absolutely loved it here. We will be returning for sure!!!!! This was like home away from home.

Worst decision

  • 1 of 5

Dirty-really did not feel comfortable sitting on the furniture, one window AC unit in kitchen for the entire home in 90 degree weather, no keys to the house or instructions left for us, smelled of cigarettes.... I could go on and on. Long story short we booked a hotel room shortly after arriving. Unfortunate because the community is very nice.

R U willing to pull other's hair off your pillow?

  • 1 of 5

How many hairs are you willing to pull off your pillow?

My daughters and I drove straight from MN to this residence. The owner called about half way through our travels, about 4 pm, to see if we had arrived. I informed him we were still hours away.

Needless to say, we got in late. I went for a short walk after bringing all out stuff in. The beach, even at night, is awesome. When I got back to the rental, my daughters were picking hair off their pillows. One even had a toe nail clipping from the comforter stick to her leg. They didn’t want to sleep under the covers and use going to use their own blankets and pillows from the car.

I went to my bed and looked. Sure enough, there were hairs on the pillow case and between the sheets. After looking at the bedrooms, I looked to other places in the home. Overall, there was a general deficiency in cleaning. There were layers of dust. The bathroom was not clean. There was urine and hair left on the toilet from previous guests. The table cloth on the kitchen table was dirty and stained, but covered with a large white doily to mask the dirt.

I called the owner. He seemed surprised that there was hair and insisted everything had been laundered since the last guest. (Should I believe him or my own eyes?) By this point, it was after midnight and we had planned to be at Cedar Point at open. It would have been nice if we could have given him a chance to correct the situation, but being so late and getting off a 12 hour car ride, we just wanted sleep. As he had ample opportunity to clean given he knew we would not be there until late, I asked if he would refund the money so we could rent a hotel. He agreed. I rented the first hotel room I could find.

The owner would not respond when I contacted him later and I had to dispute the charge through my credit card.
