great beach and fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Playa Azul.

The apartment was nice and clean. It has spectacular view of the ocean and there is always a nice breeze. Kitchen is very well kept and the bed was quite comfortable. We had a bit of a hard time opening and closing the bedroom window as it is solid wood in a humid environment.

David, the owner was very helpful and replied to my questions promptly before my renting his place. He also sent us a detailed letter with directions and places to eat. the community is gated and guarded 24 hours. Few times we got to hang out in the lobby and met many of the owners who were staying for few months at the building. They gave us good tips on places to visit, eat and shop. Everyone was so friendly and very kind.

The Playa Azul beach is very nice and clean and is right across the condominiums. A short walk to the right takes you to Lequillo beach where the water is so calm and there are food stands. A short walk to the left takes you to rougher waters, great for surfing.

The condominiums are quite close to the places we wanted to visit in North East PR, 15-20 minutes to the Marina, Fajardo and the El Yunque rainforest. It is also close to a grocery store and kiosks for various types of food. We also discovered a local fruit stand east of 992 (32.5 km) , La Frutia Flores, for the best smoothies and fresh fruits.

The activity we enjoyed the most was taking Catamaran ride to Culebra Island with Tobias. We are happy with taking the boat ride instead of the ferry to this island. They took us snorkeling in a best location for this activity and later we got to hang out at the Flamenco beach, which is a must visit when you are at PR. I highly recommend trying the shrimp mufango at Terruno, Kiosk #20.

Excellent location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for 4 days and loved the location close to San Juan, El Yunque, and some fabulous beaches! Being able to open the living doors completely and enjoy the view and ocean breezes was delightful. The apartment was a little worn but looks exactly as in the pictures.

Wonderful Oceanfront Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this condo was great. For Luquillo, I think it's absolutely the best choice. The Plaza Azul complex has three buildings, #1 is the closest one and faces the ocean (#2 is set back a bit and #3 is perpendicular). This 9th floor unit gave a nice view but was also off from the noise of the street and beach. The unit was perfect for two, would probably be okay also with a couple of children. The arrangements were easily made with easy communication with David the owner and he checked in with us by text to see if we needed anything else-- and provided us with the name of an excellent guy who came to do massages. The unit was well appointed, the kitchen well equipped, and the bed comfortable. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, it just right-- with the option of having more to do with minimal travel. We went snorkeling with Erin Go Bragh sailing (also very good), which was only about a 20 minute drive away and there was some nightlife in Luquillo (that we didn't partake in).

What a wonderful experence!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at David and Desiree's condo for our honeymoon, what a wonderful choice that was:-) It had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable and is exactly how it's described. There is plenty to do in the area, provided you have a vehicle.

David even texted us a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed and also made a couple suggestions on things we may enjoy doing/seeing during our stay, which we did:-)

We would highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed!!

Great Property at Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just finished a week stay at this condo. It looks even better than in the pictures. The view is unbelievable. Getting to the condo from San Juan International Airport was a breeze, only about a 45 minuted drive. Check in was simple and the condo was clean and in order when we arrived. Everything we needed for the week was there, cooking utensils, towels, washer/dryer, etc. David has some beach chairs and coolers that you can use and they were a big plus. Did I mention the incredible view?

Playa Azul beach is beautiful. Luquillo is a cool little town as well. There's a grocery store and Walgreens right across the street. There's a wal-mart about 5 or 10 minutes down the road. There's also a row of about 50 food kiosks with every kind of food you could want just down the street from the complex. We tried several and they were all good. Make sure you make a trip to Pasta y Pueblo! (not in the kiosks, but just a couple minutes from the condo).

We would absolutely come back to David's condo again. He was great and very responsive, though we didn't have any issues during our stay. The location is excellent, outside of the craziness of San Juan but close enough that you could go to San Juan for dinner. I would suggest renting a car as there are a ton of cool places to go check out near the condo. The rain forest is only 10-15 minutes away and there are a bunch of other great beaches and waterfalls to go see (lookup Las Paylas). The beach at the condo is nice. We were in PR during Holy Week (which seems to be like our Spring Break) but the beach was never very crowded and some days there were only a few others out besides us. I've seen other people complain about the property being noisy or being able to hear loud music from the street, but it was very quiet the entire time we were there.

The complex has a pool that looks nice, but we never used it. You have to have a key to get in and out of the complex gates and also into each building. The complex has a 24 hour security guard as well as one at each building. We felt very safe our entire trip, even when we got off the beaten path. Have I said anything about the view yet??? No joke, we probably spent nearly half our trip laying in the hammocks on the balcony. The trade winds keep a constant breeze, in fact we didn't even use the air conditioner all that much.

Would highly recommend this property! I really can't think of any complaints we had. You'll love it!
