The view was great! The house was nice, but had some flaws.

  • 3 of 5

The view was great! Kayaking was a lot of fun and hunting for agates on the beach was an adventure. The house is nice, but a little sterile/austere. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen was not well stocked. There were limited pots, pans and cooking utensils. Besides the microwave, the only electric item was the coffee maker. The beds were comfortable and the the living room spacious. The jacuzzi tub sounded great, but was a real disappointment. Tried it four times. It was great the first time. The three remaining times it shot out some kind of black chunks/flakes of material when we turned on the jets. Needless to say, we only used it once. On an earlier concern about the back sliding glass door, the property management company was very responsive. We tried calling them all day about the tub but just got s busy signal.

If the tub worked fine, and you prefer to eat out rather than cook yourself, it is not a bad place to stay. It does have a nice view of the lake.

Owner's Response: As reviews are sincerely appreciated and important to us, I feel this review is unwarranted. This guests reservation was for 1 night only. Taking 4 baths in 1 night seems extraordinary. I personally am in the office 7 days a week and have not had any issues with not receiving incoming phone calls. Our after-hours phone numbers are also given to guests through VRBO, in the arrival instruction e-mail and are also listed throughout the home. We take pride in our service to guests and are perplexed as to Mikes issues as the previous contact mentioned was through e-mail, not via phone. The kitchen is fully stocked. We appreciate feed back from guests. If there were any additional items needed for the kitchen, we would have been happy to deliver immediately upon request. I went through the kitchen after reading this review and find nothing lacking. The style of this newly decorated and remodeled home is evident in the pictures, which is clearly part of its charm. We have a grand history of 5 star reviews at LakeHaven and are sorry to hear this guest did not have an optimal experience.

An enchanting place

  • 5 of 5

Besides the peaceful view of the lake, Port Orford is an enchanting community perfect for a relaxing get away. The location is a perfect spot to access, Bandon, Cape Blanco, or points South. The kayaks were enjoyed daily by our teenagers on the calm, medium-sized lake. The gourmet kitchen was splendid for cooking. The neighborhood is very quiet. The birds making use of the lake were fun to watch and track throughout the day (kingfisher, egrets, a blue heron, and cackling crows). At night, bats would swoop up to the back patio. Such a fun place to stay.

We will never forget sitting in the chairs by the windows, looking out at the lake. Beautiful time!

  • 5 of 5

The place was the perfect space for a weekend getaway. Removed from the hustle of bigger cities, the house on Garrison Lake afforded us with a chance to exhale, sit back and watch the lake with a cup of coffee in the morning, take a short trip to the many beaches in the area before grabbing lunch at one of Port Orford's incredible restaurants, continue sightseeing or kayaking in the afternoon, and then return to the comforts of the chairs in front of the beautiful windows in the living room for a cocktail and dinner back home. In addition to the great location, the recently updated house, and the amenities provided while staying there, I just have to say, the entire town of Port Orford was so warm and welcoming. It is evident that the locals love their town, take pride in their work and leisure activities, and enjoy sharing it with others.
