Overview

About the property

Immaculate 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Apt. In Popular Queen Anne Close To Downtown

Finding a good place to stay in an unfamiliar city is a challenge. As a fellow world traveler, I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly, and, as a long-time landlord with tenants who remain friends, I've created a place that I would want to stay in if I were in an unfamiliar city.

Safe, quiet, welcoming, tastefully decorated, this is a place not only to put your head at night but to call home while you're here. Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail in the woodland-like zen garden right outside your window (we do have sunshine sometimes!). Or light a fire at night in the outdoor fire pit in true northwest style.

Even for short stays, the Queen Anne neighborhood can feel like home almost instantly—the corner cafe, a morning yoga class or stunning views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains, all within a few blocks walking distance. In the summer participate in the lively farmer's market where organic food and live music fill every Thursday afternoon. Or, hop on the bus for a short ride to Seattle City Center and the Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Olympic Sculpture Park and more.

About Janet Dixon

Though I've traveled the world and take long road trips to visit family, my soul is in the Pacific Northwest. I am orginally from the midwest, Illinois, but after experiencing the northwest during our years in Alaska I knew that I would at some point become a resident of Seattle. That opportunity presented itself in 1990. I purchased a house on Vashon Island which is a short ferry ride from West Seattle. It was the best move I ever made.

The house was on the water and I turned it into a bed and breakfast. That was my first experience providing travelers with accommodations and all these years later I am trying it again.

As a profession I have managed non-profits and since retirement I have done a variety of interesting things to fill my life. This is one of them.

Why Janet Dixon chose Seattle

I choose this particular property because of it proximity to all that is Seattle. It is a hop skip and a jump from Seattle Center and downtown. It has a wonderful commercial area one block away as well as offering a very neighborhood feeling.

What makes this apartment unique

I purchased this property in 1996 because of it location and thought that future renters would find the amenities offered in the neighbor desirable and I was right. I have had no problems renting my spaces over all those years but now I am ready to try something a little different. I am looking forward to this being as much a success.

Nice quiet place to stay.

Exactly what I was wanted as I stayed a few days in Seattle for business meetings. Easy access, great communications, and close to the city. Everything worked as expected. Thanks for a great stay.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

The location of this apartment is fantastic--it is within walking distance of many cafes shops and restaurants, as well as a grocery store. It was clean and tidy and Jan was warm and friendly to us when she greeted us with the key. I would stay here again if we were to come back. It is a garden apartment, but there is still quite a bit of light. And since it's off the street, it is generally quiet. Overall, a great stay!

Great location and clean comfortable accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay. The owner, Jan has created a lovely apartment. The space is very clean with all the amenities. Interesting artwork throughout. The outside gardens and picnic area are great for morning coffee and afternoon refreshments. Ideal location for walking and plenty of shopping and eateries nearby.

The Zen Garden Hideaway is a quiet retreat in the perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Queen Anne is one of my favorite places to stay in Seattle and this apartment was perfect. Quiet, spacious and lovely, a welcome retreat to come home to after a day out and about in Seattle. While there is a great off-street parking spot here, I highly recommend just using the buses to get around in Seattle - the stops are close and then you don't have to deal with parking at your destination. Jan was a gracious hostess who made sure I had what I needed. I do hope to make it back to the Zen Garden Hideaway the next time work takes me to Seattle and my love of the city keeps me there for a few extra days.

Owner's Response: This guest was perfect. She lived in Seattle before and returned for business and choose Queen Anne knowing how centrally located it is and how close it is to all the amenities such as bus access. I hope she comes back. I feel lucky to have had her as a guest.

Roomy. Private. Excellent Amenities. Convenient Off-Street Parking.

  • 5 of 5

The location was convenient and an easy drive from one of the main highways. Every room was large and nicely appointed. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary essentials and more . Great coffee maker. Even a bottle of Prosecco was being chilled in the frig upon my arrival.

The flat screen had access to Netflex. The bed/bedding was comfortable. My best experience with a VRBO property, so far.

Owner's Response: Wow ! His best experience ever. How much better can that be except if it was his first VRBO experience and I know it wasn't because he told me he stays in VRBOs frequently. My quest was here on business and had a car. Providing off-street parking is a big plus because being close to a commercial area the streets can get crowded. It was great having him as a guest. Hope he comes back.

A bit of little know information is that Seattle was build on seven hills. Queen Anne is one of those hills and it is the closest residential area to Seattle Center and the City Center which includes the famous Pike Place Market.

Queen Anne is a historic neighborhood studded with cute cottages and gardens, flanked by stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and filled with specialty shops, international cuisine, access to yoga classes, great coffee shops and the beauty of it all is they are only one block away. Within .5 of a mile you are able to see Puget Sound from the famous Highland Drive overhang where the entire skyline of the city can be seen with the majestic Mt. Rainer in the background.

From Queen Ann you have access by car to funky Freemont and Ballard neighborhoods as well as Greenwood and Green Lake. On the east side of the hill is Lake Union where you can rent kayaks and explore the floating homes (remember Sleepless in Seattle), stop and have lunch at the lake side restaurants or even hop on a sea plane and have an aerial view of the the surrounding area.

Seattle Center is not just the Space Needle although it is a must see. You can go to the opera, ballet, the Pacific Science Center, the butterfly exhibit, the children's museum, live theater at the Rep, catch the monorail to downtown and have a wonderful time at the EMP (Experience Music Project). You will be awed by Frank Gerhy's architectural design of the building and by it's exhibits which are dedicated to the exploration of popular music,(Nirvana), science fiction and pop culture.
