Amazing house for a romantic stay for couples. If you want to switch off and spend time in midst nature, this is the place that will provide you with tranquillity and sounds of silence.
The property is beautiful. I got exactly what I expected. It's off grid, so not for everyone, but my daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much. It's peaceful and full of jungle sights and sounds. Mahalo Robert for a lovely place to stay during our stay on the east side of the island.
Beautiful comfort off the grid
This uniquely constructed house did not disappoint. It was the perfect retreat for my husband and I as we explored the lovely coastal area around Pahoa. Our host, Robert, shared nearby places and events to visit, then left us to our private experiences. The one king-size bed was very comfortable, there was ample hot water in the shower, and the house was supplied with all necessities. We loved the view off the balcony and from the roof in the mornings for bird-watching, and at night, for stars.
Thank you, Suma! We loved hosting you. Please come back anytime.
Lovely Off Grid Get-Away!
The little house was exactly as described. It is the perfect retreat for two people. We had everything we needed (although a couple more hand towels would be nice) and were very comfortable. The location is a bit remote (we wanted that) and we had a lot of rain our first couple of days so the dirt roads were full of pot holes - which made the drive to the house a little challenging. We loved exploring this end of the island. Hiking is amazing and the warm pools we found were better than a spa! For a fun breakfast, I recommend Tin Shack Bakery in Pahoa. Excellent coffee and food and a fun eclectic crowd.
Charmingly rustic cabin the jungle along the ocean
I loved the layout of the house with the partial upper floor as a sort of loft. Robert had a ladder on balcony allowing easy access to the flat part of the roof (there's a railing). We went up there to look at stars and watch the sunrise. We didn't have any problems with the shower going cold -- it stayed hot even late at night. This is a great place if you're looking for something a little rustic and outdoorsy; because the house runs on solar power, there's no oven or microwave or toaster, so plan on doing all your food prep on gas burners. A few small lizards made it inside, but I didn't care -- I figured they'd eat the bugs. There's no dryer, so we used the wash machine in the morning and let our clothes air dry all day. Robert left a plate full of fresh papaya from the trees in the yard on the table. His house is very close, but there's a lot of foliage between the two buildings, so it feels private enough. Also, make sure to rent a car that can handle a very rocky, bumpy road up to the house.
