Waterfront year-round vacation rental very affordable. Recently has been renovated and updated. Sunset Cottage is located on Chemo Pond and is a wonderful place for a family vacation, right on the waters edge. Fully stocked cottage with linens, bath towels, wash cloths and kitchen towels. Gas grills and picnic table are provided and also a fire pit. We have 2 kayaks, paddle boat, dock for fishing, raft for swimming out to and a horse shoe pit. Very relaxing on this quiet three mile pond ( about 1200 acres). Sit back, relax as you watch the loons and ducks pass by. You might see an eagle in flight, their nest is nearby.
We also have a property next door "Loon Haven #744549" if you have another family or You can rent 2 additional kayaks and a canoe if you are in need of extra.
We own the cottage next to this one. We purchased it about 5 years ago and we spend as much time there as we can. Clifton and Chemo pond is a wonderful place to be. Bar Harbor/Acadia/Cadillac Mountain is 45 miles away and is absolutely beautiful, wonderful for hikers too.
Bangor is home of Hollywood Slots Casino, also Bangor Mall and many other stores.
A large selection of restaurants to choose from.
The River Concerts are very popular with very talented artists.
I love a lot of things about this place but the sunsets are the best....absolutely beautiful and a wonderful way to end your day.
We rented this cottage because a dear friend just recently lost her fight against CRPS, and wanted us to remember her via a memorial at Cadillac Mountain. Everything in Bar Harbor was all booked up, and this was both nearby and reasonably priced.
I had no idea how big Chemo Pond was, or even why it is named that, but it is a beautiful lake. The cottage is situated in such a way that you only see a few of the houses next to you, but the rest of the lake looks like it is yours alone. Although the water was too cold to go into, it was very clear. The cottage is right on the pond -- so the views from the living room and the bedrooms was just delightful. On one side, there are steps down to the water and a nice firepit -- which we enjoyed very much as we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the Hunters Moon.
The cottage is on a lane that doesn't receive a lot of traffic, so we let the dogs off leash to romp around and they did. It was nice to be able to let them do that, but we do have well trained dogs that will return upon command. Even so, they couldn't help themselves and did wade into the pond, but the cold water discouraged their efforts!
The cottage itself was an ideal size for 3 people, and our two dogs. The floors are wooden which is great when you bring dogs, as we did. We put down inexpensive bath rugs for our older dog as he can have trouble getting traction on wooden floors. The cottage is basic, but functional, and decorated to reflect the surroundings. The kitchen is small but adequate, although we did not prepare meals because of our limited time.
Some places we have rented, we almost feel like we cannot put up our feet, but this cottage just felt very cheery and homey. I like that!
The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept very well. Although we didn't need to sleep a lot of people, there were enough beds in the 3 bedrooms to suit a larger family.
We were very pleased to learn from the owner that there was a Dunkin Donuts nearby which made it possible to get coffee rather easily! Also, the owners recommended Eagles Nest as a downhome kind of place that is good to eat -- a fact that was buttressed by recommendations for that same place on Roadfood.com. It was clean, the people friendly, and we had a darn good lobster roll.
I would definitely be willing to rent this cottage again, and that says a lot.
I stayed 10/1-10/7/16 with my husband and our two boys (4yrs & 2yrs). We absolutely loved this place. The kayak and pedal boat were big hits with my boys. We brought our own fishing poles and fished almost everyday. The house had everything you could need and honestly felt like a home away from home.
We hiked Chick Hill which is very close to the house and it was absolutely amazing.
We took a day trip to Acadia and did the park on MDI and Schoodic, both were amazing! We were at Frazier Point on Schoodic for sunset and saw dolphins swimming in the bay and a bald eagle!
We took a day trip up to Lily Bay State Park which is on Moosehead Lake and loved it! They have a small beach, a playground and a 2 mile walking trail, it was perfect for our little guys.
We took another day trip to Belfast-cute boardwalk along the coast and a local brewery right on the water. We also found a co-op there for great local, organic produce & meats! We stopped at Fort Knox after Belfast and then finished the night in Castine before heading back to house.
We also had great star gazing right from the front yard. We are from CT and don't get to see too many stars because of the light pollution. The stars here were amazing. We got to see the Milky Way too, It is right above the house!!
I would highly recommend this house. We only used the downstairs of the house and it can comfortably accomadate many more. They had DVDs, cards and puzzles for the kids. We brought our fire stick as a backup and it easily connected to the tv.
You would not be disappointed staying here! It was a perfect home base location for our day trips.
My family of 6 stayed here for a week. The cottage is well maintained and you can't beat the property! Chemo Pond is the backyard and we went kayaking every morning. What a treat!
There were enough beds for 6 adults, but it could get cosy for larger parties. We had an unfortunate slow shower situation when we arrived that progressively worsened, but were able to handle it. Julianne offered to come up the next day. The hosts were very responsive throughout the stay.
House and property were absolutely perfect. Easy lake access. The view was breathtaking! We only wish we could have stayed there longer.
We had the camp for 2 weeks & had a family Reunion & a Baptism during our stay. Love the camp, it is decorated so nicely & very cozy & comfy. Love the fire pit area too. We enjoyed kayaking & using the paddle boat.
A good time was had by all.
The cabin was greating. It had everything. Dennis and Julian were great. We added people last minute with no problems. Every question I had whIle at the house was answered very quickly. They had set up picnic table us and had every feature you could want on the lake. I will definitely make a trip back.
