Great location, basic but clean and cozy. Hot tub was very useful after our 10 mile hike!
Really enjoyed staying here, easy to go back and forth to Volcano National Park. Easy to access with the number pad lock system
Awesome !!! You can't go wrong.
The title says it all.
My Kind of Camping
Cozy Country Cottages
Lovely spot in the woods to stay at 4,024 feet elevation & enjoy a fireplace and hot tub! The two cabins are very close, so for privacy reasons, we decided to rent both at additional expense.
My only complaints would be that I wished the sliders to the back deck (overlooking the golf course) worked properly & that there were chairs out there, such that it could be usable space. My husband and I would have really enjoyed sipping our morning coffee out there...that's one of the best things about Hawaii...being out in nature :)
We were also a little disappointed that the TV was in the front entrance area (as opposed to the living room). It would have been nice to watch a movie together with a blanket in front of the fireplace in the evening.
Although the base rate is advertised as being extremely affordable, by the time you factor in the "guest charge", the "privacy charge" to keep the neighboring cabin vacant (which is optional), the "transient tax", the "sales tax", the "cleaning charge", the "booking charge", another transient tax charge for the 2nd cabin (should you desire to lock it off) & yet another regular tax for that 2nd cabin, the ACTUAL total for a one night's stay is three times the price displayed.
No local kamaaina discount was given for Hawaii state residents, nor a veteran's discount, which was disappointing :(
For several hundreds of dollars a night (which is quite steep for a cabin rental) we could have stayed in a gorgeous 5 star resort...and in an oceanfront room at that...however we were looking for a different experience this trip & we paid the optional/additional fee to have the deck and hot tub all to ourselves (instead of sharing it with strangers in the other cabin adjoined by the deck & hot tub) & that was certainly our prerogative.
We could have saved 1/3 of the cost if we hadn't asked for the property management company to not allow anyone to rent the neighboring cabin. It was worth the extra money to not have any awkward encounters with other vacationers, however. You could easily see from the windows in our cabins right into the windows in theirs.
Honestly, I only wish it was more affordable so that we could come back & stay again, as it was a very enjoyable time nonetheless and I don't regret it one bit :)
I can definitely recommend these cozy country cottages in Volcano Village to other guests!
Glad you would recommend these cabins to other travelers. We have made mention to your comments about adding chairs outback on the porch, that is a great idea and one that I'm sure they'll agree. These cabins are made as inexpensive options to stay in Hawaii and offer more privacy and comfort than the high rise hotels in Waikiki that you look into 300 rooms across the way and share a hot tub with 100's of strangers. All in all, we are happy you enjoyed the time away from hot and muggy Kona. :)
