About the property

Three Bedroom, Two Bathroom Character Home With Many Special Features.

This charming heritage home, on one third acre, is nestled among oak and arbutus trees at the end of a no-through road.

Centrally located in a quiet neighborhood on the treed slope of Mt. Tolmie, this home is situated close to the park-like setting of the University of Victoria, and within walking distance or a short drive to many trails, parks, beaches, cafes and bakeries. The Inner Harbour and the amenities of the city are 10 minutes away by car. Wilderness areas, nature parks, biking and hiking trails, and beaches are easily accessible.

Enjoy relaxing in the garden, on the covered front porch, or in the sun room adjacent to the master bedroom.

Take your book to a window seat, or sit beside a wood burning fireplace in the living room or den.

Cook in a lovely, modern kitchen surrounded by windows inviting the garden inside. Enjoy the access to the back yard and herb garden. Take your breakfast upstairs to the tiny secluded 'morning' porch.

Enjoy your meals beside the fireplace in the comfortable country dining room.

Surround yourself with original, local art and a large selection of books.

Make use of the private office space.

Find complete privacy from the world in the art studio/loft located in the out-building.

Victoria is a charming small city combining heritage character with a modern vibe: great restaurants, boutique shopping, farmer's markets, artisan bakeries and breweries, art galleries, live theatre and music and much more.

This home has a country sensibility. The neighbours value quietness and privacy. If, as well as enjoying the amenities of the city, your stay includes the desire to spend time in a tranquil west coast setting then this is the home is for you.

About Barb and Tony Stark

We are a couple who enjoy all that Victoria has to offer. We also spend time in the Kootenays with our children and on a nearby Gulf island.

When we first moved to Victoria we wanted a home in the country, with room for animals and children. We fell in love with this property because it offered the feel of a rural area within the city with the charm of a heritage country style home.

When we are away we enjoy sharing our home with visitors who wish to have a home away from home while they are visiting Victoria.

Barb and Tony Stark purchased this house in 1977

Perfect Victoria Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently spent a week at this wonderful house and everything about it was pleasing -- the pictures do not do it justice. The grounds and the house are lovely and the interior exceptionally furnished and well appointed for both beauty and comfort. Cooking in the thoughtfully stocked kitchen was a treat, as was eating in the dining room with a wood burning fireplace. The beds were super comfortable, the bathrooms luxurious and there were many lovely places to relax, read or just enjoy the ambiance. We also thought the location was ideal---perfect for biking, kayaking-- and just minutes from all amenities and downtown. The owners are kind and thoughtful hosts. We had a terrific time and look forward to going back. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We loved this "country home" in the city.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for the month of March in this lovely family home. The setting was gorgeous--in particular a spectacular garden just beginning to bloom. The house was as beautiful as pictured, well-stocked, clean, and organized for visitors. Our Victoria friends and family concurred that this was the best of our annual rentals in the city, and we agree.

Two weeks wasn't long enough for my family in this wonderful, country style cottage. This home is situated in a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood but still a stone throw away from all the relivant attractions, amenities and the Ocean. The house was exceptionally clean and tidy and extremely well stocked... Just perfect for anyone wishing to stay in a home from home!

Just perfect.

Gorgeous house with all you need for for a short or long stay in Victoria. We (family of four) enjoyed a month at this lovely comfortable character home and enjoyed every minute. A peaceful location, really felt like being in a country home as described, yet convenient for downtown and many other attractions in Victoria. Barb and Tony were great to deal with from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and would certainly return. In fact the only down side to our stay was having to leave. 😊

A delightful and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two months in this lovely home and had a very happy time while there. The house is comfortable, inviting and a joy to entertain in. It is beautifully decorated in a stylish casual way that makes it very appealing. We watched the garden transform from winter to spring and every day something new was coming into bud or flower. Birds visit frequently and so does the occasional deer. The house is located on a very quiet cul-de-sac and there are many pleasant walks through the University of Victoria campus to Cadboro Bay. Hillside mall is very convenient for groceries and other needs and you should visit Charelli's Cheese shop on Foul Bay Road. The house is an easy drive to downtown and there is bus service at the foot of the street. The owners are warm and hospitable! All in all, we can recommend this home for short or long term stays - but be warned that we may beat you to it and rent it again for a long term stay!

Very charming house !!!

  • 5 of 5

We have just finished a 6 weeks stay here in Victoria. This house is charming, with glorious gardens and light coming in from all four sides. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need. There are three fireplaces and furniture and art that we would choose ourselves. Barb and Tony were just great, from the initial inquiry right through to the end of our stay, they were always available for anything we might have needed. Although it feels very country like in it's serenity, you are very close to shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, transportation and all the places on the must see list while in Victoria.

For us, it had the added virtue of being close to our son and daughter-in-law. We could not have found a better place.
