About David

We have been residents of Hawaii since before statehood. Or family of four grew up spending time in Malaekahana to escape the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and enjoy the beauty of Malaekahana bay and the activities on the North shore. We recently moved to the mainland to be closer to family.

Why David chose Kahuku

Our comfortable home is located on a very quiet, sandy beach, with warm water, gentle currents and the tradewinds Hawaii is famous for. It is a perfect location for families, friends, couples, and anyone looking to kick back and enjoy time together.

What makes this house unique

Located on a white sandy beach, with warm water and gentle currents

Guestbook comments from the owner

David's house was perfect. The house is spacious, clean and had everything we needed on hand. We had prebooked for Kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards and snorkeling gear to be delivered right to our house. The sandy bottom beach in front was perfect to for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding each day. There's a surf break to the left of the house that gives perfect waves all day. I recommend watching the sunrise each morning from any of the bedrooms. It is spectacular. We loved the location. Quiet yet close to hidden beaches, restaurants and groceries. We will return.

Incredible Beachfront Property- Pure Paradise on the North Shore!

  • 5 of 5

This house is a dream! Situated on the most beautiful beach on the North Shore, you can surf, paddleboard, boogie board and swim right in front of the house! We saw multiple turtles when paddleboarding which was fun. We stayed here on our honeymoon two and a half years ago, and just HAD to come back. The caretaker Ernie is so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area (he's lived on Oahu his whole life!) and we fell in love with his dogs, Kui & Kahu. We went for a run or walk on the beach each morning- it's a little over 2 mile stretch of beach, and the sand is so soft. We'd come back to the house for breakfast and make smoothies or pancakes every morning, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. We grilled most nights too- the local food (even from the nearby grocer, Tamura's) is so fresh and delicious. The outdoor shower was awesome. We only used the master bedroom (bed is so comfortable and you hear the waves crashing all night, so relaxing) but you could sleep up to 8 people in the house. Having a washer/dryer made things easy. The house has beach chairs, towels, toys, boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc. all for you to use, which is awesome. A local surf company to delivers surf boards and paddle boards that you can rent for your time here. We hired a massage therapist to come bring a table and we had massages outside with an ocean view- highly recommended! The house is close to tons of great food options for eating out... yummy food trucks, fruit stands, turtle bay, Haleiwa, etc. Some of our Hawaii favorites are Fumi's shrimp farm, Bonzai Bowls (Acai Bowls), Shave Ice from Matsumoto's in Haleiwa, and Guadalajara Grill in Laie for the best Mexican we've ever had. Also Angel's ice cream shop is only 3 mins from the house next to Foodland- dangerous for a sweet tooth like me! We can't say enough good things about this house and this special place. It's magical.

The perfect family getaway

  • 4 of 5

It has taken me a little while to sit down and write this review because each time I do I just don't know exactly how to put it into words.

My family and I visited for a week this August, myself, my husband, our five children and daughter in law and this house could not have been more perfect.

There are so many things I could say that I have no idea how to wrap it up into one review. The location of the home is perfect, being able to see my children in the water while in the house was absolutely wonderful. (my children are teens and adults so safely in the water together) The house is in such a wonderful part of the island, every drive we went on was beautiful. We loved going into town, finding food carts to eat at, and visiting the many local beaches and fruit stands. Be sure to stop at Ted's for breakfast sandwiches, plate lunch, or any of their amazing pies.

The house itself was so well equipped there wasn't a single thing we needed the entire time we were there that we didn't find somewhere in the home.

Waking up to the sunrise every morning from the master bedroom was priceless, playing games at the dining room table in the evening with the breeze blowing through the windows was amazing. So many fun moments could be listed but I am confident each person to visit this home will build their own magical memories. Right down to the chickens wandering around outside! They love having a little bit of fresh water sprayed on the ground for them, once or twice a day.

There are so many wonderful beaches to go visit if you decide to leave the perfect beach off the backyard. We snorkeled at Shark's Cove, saw turtles both on land and in the water at Turtle Beach and spent a wonderful day camped out at Waimea Bay, snorkeling, cliff jumping and swimming, right up the road. There is so much to do and see around the area, don't be afraid to get out and explore but be sure to make time for some relaxing down time at the house, it is so inviting some days we decided that home was right were were wanted to stay.

I really can't say enough about this house, I look forward to being able to return one day. Thank you so much David for opening your wonderful home to us and answering our every question and concern along the way. It truly was a wonderful time with our family!

Owner's Response: I am so glad everything worked out for you and your family. My sisters and I grew up learning to swim, boogie board and surf at the beach out front and as a parent, I watched my four kids do the same. We are so lucky to have a sandy beach with no rocks or coral and a bay protected from strong waves and currents.

Fantastic, relaxing, rejuvenating

  • 5 of 5

My wife, our two children and their young families spent a wonderful week at this lovely home. It is spacious, open and inviting with everything needed to make our vacation enjoyable. We especially enjoyed our morning walks on the beach and the afternoons spent building sand castles, swimming and playing with our grandkids on the beach. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves washing up the sand and the trade winds rustling through the trees was heavenly. It was family therapy at its best. Highly recommended. We are already planning a return visit.

Perfect Family Vacation on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful week of vacation at this beautiful home. The location is ideal - private, on the beach, and near great North Shore spots such as Waimea Falls, Sharks Cove, and the Polynesian Cultural Center. This home is spacious, clean, and was very comfortable, especially for our family of five. It is stocked with everything you need and feels like a "home away from home". When we return to Oahu, this is where we will stay. Mahalo!
