We have been residents of Hawaii since before statehood. Or family of four grew up spending time in Malaekahana to escape the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and enjoy the beauty of Malaekahana bay and the activities on the North shore. We recently moved to the mainland to be closer to family.
Why David chose Kahuku
Our comfortable home is located on a very quiet, sandy beach, with warm water, gentle currents and the tradewinds Hawaii is famous for. It is a perfect location for families, friends, couples, and anyone looking to kick back and enjoy time together.
What makes this House unique
Located on a white sandy beach, with warm water and gentle currents and unlike most beaches in Hawaii, no rocks or coral

The easy beach access was amazing!
Such an amazing property! Definitely will be renting again in the near future! My 1 yr old had a blast as well did my 6 year old sister! Easy beach access was awesome, and the outside shower was such a HUGE bonus! Overall absolutely loved the house and the area!
We felt like private guests in paradise.
The cover picture shown is the view on awakening each morning. The setting is beautiful and the beach house is spacious, clean, and well-equipped: beach chairs and mountains of sand toys, boogie boards, beach towels, inflatables, and a generously equipped kitchen.
We spent 10 days at the house with 4 adults and a 3 year old (3 generations). On 2 days we entertained family members also visiting Oahu with grilling, and dining on the lanai. They were all jealous of our accommodations!
Easy grocery shopping 1-1/2 miles away at Foodland. Kona coffee at the store and at the coffee shops. Excellent dining at the Haliewa Beach House (20 minutes) and Roy's Beach House at Turtle Bay (10 minutes) as well as fast and excellent food at the Seven Brothers Restaurant and the food trucks in Kahuku, 1 mile up the road. A half mile beyond Kahuku is Kahuku Farms that has super, locally grown, vegetarian lunch options and tasty healthy smoothies. They also grow cacao and sell their own 70% cacao dark chocolate!
There is great shopping in Haliewa. Near Haliewa is Waimea Valley. It is a gorgeous reserve area with tropical gardens, and a wonderful walk to a 30-foot waterfall where swimming is allowed (and has changing rooms)!
For us it is hard to imagine a better time than 10 days at a very family-friendly tropical beach and beach house, surrounded by natural beauty, and enjoying fine food and Kona coffee. And if you want to visit the memorials and sites in and around Pearl Harbor and Honolulu (we did), they are about 1-1/4 hours away which makes an easy day trip.
Owner David has a lot to be proud of and is a joy to work with; very responsive. Mahalo, David!
It warms my hear to read your review. The property has been in our family for over 50 years and has brought great joy to several generations. We are so pleased to be able to share it with others like you who appreciate the simple beauty and laid back lifestyle of Malaekahana. Come back and visit often!!
Beautiful beach oasis
Just got back from an 8 night stay with a family of 6. What an overall fantastic house and property. The house has all the amenities you would need, the kitchen and all bathrooms were well stocked with everything required. The property is private, but also offers beautiful ocean views and a extremely short walk from the lanai to the sand. The backyard played host to many games of croquet and bocce and although not a private beach, there were few '"passer by's"". Numerous hours of beach/water activities were held daily, including swimming, wave crashing and body surfing.
Although an hour's drive from many of the tourist attractions, this location is very quiet and has its own local points of interest that are must do's. Such as, Sevenbrothers,Wili Wili's, Giovanni's, Rainbow Shaved Ice and a foodland minutes away.
Overall, if you want a clean private beautiful oasis, this one is for you.
I am so happy everything worked out for you and your family. You'll have to come back soon. We have a new bocee court going in and the sport court is set to be resurfaced soon.
Fabulous oasis in the perfect location
This is the third time we have stayed at this property, and we were pleasantly surprised to find many wonderful updates this time around. We had zero complaints on our first two visits, but this time we arrived to fresh new towels and linens, decoration updates, and other facelift improvements. They gave the already perfect home some little touches that really made the place feel more luxury than it already did. The kitchen is well equipped, we used the grill many times, and spent most of our time down at the beach. There is a super strong wifi signal, which is a plus. It's the perfect location, ideal for beach walks, visits to Haleiwa or Honolulu, there is so much to do nearby it's awesome. This is paradise. One of our favorite places in the world. We will be back!
We loved having you for your honeymoon and are pleased you have chosen to celebrate with us several other times. The welcome mat is always out!
Great location without congestion
The house was exactly as advertised. Comfortable accomodations for six of us including a one year old. All we needed was our clothes and food. The outdoor shower and dining area were great amenities and used frequently. We travelled to other areas of the island during the day, but started and ended each day at the house. It was very relaxing and well maintained. Although the house is on a relatively busy road, but it was easy to exit the property either direction and we had very little road noise. I would highly recommend this location to anyone including families.
Really appreciate it Daniel. I have great memories of my kids as one year olds romping around the property, splashing in the water and stomping on every sand castle I ever built ;-) We welcome your family back at any time.
Incredible and unforgettable experience for our family!
My wife and I stayed for the month of February with our 4 kids (1,3,8,10) and what a treat it was! The owner was fantastic to deal with right from the start and made every effort to make sure everything was convenient for us through the booking process and the stay.
When we arrived the place was very clean and was all set up for us. The property itself is a dream come true. Enormous beach front lot, cute and comfortable beach house, nice beds, the outdoor shower was a neat experience as well.
The property also has 7 resident wild chickens that provided more entertainment for our kids than we ever could have imagined. There was a mountain of sand toys and beach gear stored just beside the kitchen door that we took full advantage of and added a few pieces to (took us a few days to discover that). The beach was fantastic and was all but deserted (which was wonderful). The sand was perfect and played host to many ghost crabs which we thoroughly enjoyed digging for during the day and chasing/catching with flashlights at night.
The north shore is so much quieter, more peaceful and has so much more natural beauty than busy Waikiki. This house is a perfect representation of that - amazing beach, lush tropical vegetation surrounding the property making it completely private, and wonderful cottage with all the amenities but none of the craziness/business of home.
We come to Hawaii fairly frequently and this is the best property we’ve stayed in by far. We certainly hope to be able to book this one again for our next stay and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Thank you so much to the owner for the use of this home that has given us so many wonderful experiences and memories!

Your review bring a big smile to my face. It evokes many memories of growing up with my three sisters building sand castles, chasing sand crabs and boogie boarding on that same wonderful beach. We live in California now but were able to gift our four children that same opportunity, with those same great memories and now they are starting to do the same with their own families and friends. I'll bet the chickens are great-grand-chickens from the same chickens running around when we were growing up ;-)
Please come back and visit often. The door is always open.
