Enjoy mother nature and watching the lobster boats with your morning cup of coffee from the dining nook, the screened in deck or by the water in the adirondack chairs. Beautiful sun and moon rises; very close to the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia National Park; quaint harbor of Corea-by-the-Sea; screened in porch so you can enjoy the whole evening; go to the lobster co-op in town and buy your lobster right off the boat. Short ferry ride over to Bar Harbor (and take the free bus around Acadia National Park) or drive to the main part of Acadia National Park with thunder hole, Cadillac mountain, sand beach etc. Bring your kayaks to enjoy the bay and launch right from the property. You can also take a car ride to see 'Campobello' president Roosevelt's summer home just over the border into Canada (bring your passports). washer/dryer; granite counters; relaxing jetted tub overlooking the bay; wood fireplace; outdoor gas grill; fully equipped kitchen; Lots to explore in down east Maine.

This is a great property. Newer construction, well stocked and very very clean. Lots of space to spread out and the views are just amazing. Water is even closer than it appears in photos. I spend almost a full day out by the water reading. This place is a bit remote which is part of the charm. For those who are unfamiliar with the area: this property is on the Schoodic Peninsula. Bar Harbor and the main part of Acadia National Park are on the next peninsula over (Mt Desert Island). As the crow flies it’s only around 5 miles BUT because you have to drive up one peninsula, cross over the mainland area and head down the next peninsula to Bar Harbor the drive takes over an hour. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to go back and forth. Most of the roads are back country roads and very pretty so we didn’t mind the drive. A small part of Acadia National Park is on the Schoodic Peninsula only about 15 min away from the house.
You really get the real Maine vibe here: watching the lobster boats on the water, small general stores and restaurants, roadside farm stands and antique stores. The house is fully stocked with DVDs and puzzles and games and with the view you really don’t have to leave the house much if you don’t want to. It was very easy to cook and we found ourselves eating in more than past vacations because the view was better than any restaurant. Owners were very friendly and helpful: very much “our house is your house” feel. Definitely recommend as long as you don’t mind being a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor.
This rental property was everything we expected and more!
Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at "Maine Delight". The beautiful, spacious, easy care home provided everything needed for a wonderful family vacation. We enjoyed the close/easy proximity to the water, outstanding sunsets & sunrises, and Jacuzzi tub baths overlooking the ocean. The special child friendly touches of children's beds with a slide and play area were a pure delight to our grandchildren. The beautiful dining nook served our puzzle loving family well. The well equipped kitchen and island area made preparing meals and baking blueberry muffins and popovers effortless, and the gas grill and picnic tables provided for a nice family cookout. The choice of coffee makers was an added bonus, as I did not have to use the small Keurig coffee maker I toted there. After the initial surprise of having to make our own beds up with the provided linens, there were no further surprises, everything was just as it should be for a wonderful family-oriented vacation, but minus the family pet, as no pets are allowed. Although we didn't need them, this home even contains the necessary equipment for babies or very young children, which would certainly be a bonus factor. As a family that knows the area and has vacationed there for many years, we give "Maine Delight" 5 stars.
Absolutely beautiful home with easy access to all areas in down east Maine. Immaculate, quiet and extremely comfortable! Highly recommend!!!
We had a wonderful time.
We had a wonderful stay at this house. The dining room table is perfectly situated to view the sun rise. There are amazing views from the living room, bedroom, bathroom, porch, and dining room. This home is located on the waterfront; it is very easy access to the ocean. My wife and I spent her 50th birthday here and we really enjoyed ourselves. Wayne and Beth are wonderful hosts. We highly, highly recommend this vacation rental.
Perfect winter holiday get away
This was the perfect home to celebrate Christmas! We love this part of Maine and the Mortensen’s home was warm, welcoming and complete with everything you would need - a fireplace- a view, even in the bathroom!- well organized and well kept. So grateful for this experience.
Thank you Beth for Sharing your home with us. We did not expect that ocean view as you enter the house and it was wonderful! You home has everything one could need in a rental and we appreciated the fully stocked kitchen. Everything was clean and organized and easy to find. Weather was perfect and we had a great day hiking up Cadillac mountain. I have one complaint and hate to even say it because everything else is top notch, but that queen mattress was a little tough to sleep on. Maybe something to replace in the future. Thank you again!
Great News! We now have a new king size bed in the master bedroom and a new queen bed upstairs! We always want our guests to feel as comfortable as possible, and who wouldn't like a bigger bed?! Thank you for your honest comments :-)
