About Ciella Gabriel, owner
I am an avid gardener and The Hacienda gives me to opportunity to indulge in my favorite activity while creating a lovely space for guests to rest and relax. My husband personally observed every detail of construction and renovation of this entire property. He and I love to boogie board, hike and enjoy wonderful fresh organic food. We love hosting travelers from all over the world. We love Boquete and its amazing people, culture and beauty. We have lived here for over 10 wonderful years.
Ciella Gabriel, owner purchased this House in 2008
Why Ciella Gabriel, owner chose Boquete
The Hacienda B and B and Casita are uniquely situated in an area where manicured gardens, wild jungle fauna and banana forest collide. We are 10 minutes by car or a 20 minute hike from village center but the area feels secluded and very private. It is not in a typical development but a bit wild and untamed. We have well over 100 banana trees and 5 different variety of bananas. We have lived here for 10 years and really know the area well and are very willing to assist our guests. We are here to serve your needs.
What makes this House unique
The Hacienda has extraordinary peace and serenity in a glorious garden setting. All rooms are decorated beautifully with luxurious sheets and towels. It is cozy and beautiful with owners who live right on the premises and love hosting guests from all over the world. Hike, take tours and play all day and then come home to The Hacienda and enjoy a great nights rest on a very comfortable mattress.

Beautiful tropical setting, knowledgeable and friendly hosts, a beautiful room and eccellent breakfasts. We will be back!
Great Property away from the town. Very relaxing with multiple lovely terraces
Really enjoyed our stay at the Hacienda! The hosts are wonderful and very accommodating. they adjust their breakfast time to match our schedule and provide an enormous delicious breakfast that sustains you well into the afternoon!
The property is a little away from town but we enjoyed walking to town and on most days got a taxi back up to the house for $6-$8. The walk back up is steep so we only did it one time.
A beautiful place, remote, surrounded by quiet greenery and birdsong
The Hacienda is a very comfortable and pleasant place to stay. Remote from restaurants and grocery stores if you don't have a car - the walk to town was interesting but long and would be challenging to walk back up after the walk down, so we took a taxi. Our favorite taxi driver charged $5 to go up or down the hill, and he took us back to David for a very low price compared to other quotes we got. The phone we received with pre-programmed numbers stopped working after our first use so we bought a Sim card for our own phone with 20 minutes of calls for about $3 in town, and that was sufficient to call taxis from the list that Ciella gave us - a list of drivers that know the way to the Hacienda. Internet was good for a couple of days, and not accessible for a couple of days. The bed was very comfortable, the nights were quiet and dark with no city lights filling the air. The surroundings were great to sit and relax amid the plants and birds. The breakfast was great and always waiting for us at the appointed time. Preparing your own food for lunch or dinner is a little difficult without a sink and running water in the kitchen area. We had warm showers for a couple of days but then the water heater failed and water was cold for the next 3 days. Ciella's assistant did everything possible to get it working - over Easter weekend he was able to get two different repair men to come up to try to fix the heater an Saturday and Sunday, and he offered to take us to his house for warm showers if we wished. So, overall it is a beautiful and quiet place but maybe due to circumstances beyond anyone's control our overall experience was just so-so.
We’d like to apologize for the hot water situation. We had it rebuilt and it is back to working perfectly. In Central America it can take a few times to get things repaired correctly. We apologize for your
inconvenience. We do not advertise a full kitchen. We are a bed and breakfast and have created a kitchenette area for guests convenience. We have never received a 3 star review in all our years of business so we obviously let you down. That’s not our usual response. So sorry for that. We appreciate your comments and are taking everything into consideration.
A few quirks but overall ok
The Good: lovely grounds of trees, plants, flowers, nice paths to walk around. Comfortable room with a great patio. The owners were very helpful with site seeing suggestions.
The not so good: the road to get up to this house is frighteningly narrow and winding - part of it is very rough gravel. The bathroom is not attached to the bedroom, so you have to go through the sitting area; awkward if someone is sitting there. Breakfast was good, but could have changed it up once in a while. We had eggs 4 days in a row, pancakes or waffles would have been nice.
I want to point out that the 3 kilometer road from town is paved. There is 1/2 kilometer of gravel at the end. This is Central America so we do the best we can to accommodate our beautiful location. We did serve a different frittata everyday, not just eggs. They were carefully assembled fresh everyday from free range eggs, a variety of cheeses and fresh produce.
Perfect First Experience in Boquete
This was a lovely way to become familiar with Boquete!
The Hacienda is not right in town but rather about a 30 minute walk (10 minute drive) up the side of a hill and given the bustle (and noise) during any festivities in the town, this is definitely where anyone would want to be for privacy and quiet.
As a wonderful bonus feature Quincy/Ciella prepare a fabulous breakfast that bests any restaurant! Their omelette satisfies well into the afternoon.
The outside of the property is beautifully maintained with humming birds buzzing about and a stream running down the side of the property. The inside amenities are also very thoughtfully prepared from umbrellas to flashlights to local taxi numbers and attractions. As longtime residents in the area, the owners are a wealth of ideas for where and how to spend time. In our opinion, the zip-lining is a MUST...very exhilarating with a focus on safety and fun!
We would definitely return to Boquete for a longer stay and this accommodation would also be on the list of things to do over again! Thank you for being such gracious hosts!
Stupendous Stay, Ranking Tops!!
Wife & I initially booked looking for convienant location in town. Owners go out of their way to make stay top notch. Breakfast is out of this world (gained 20 #'s), all together with local, all natural produce. Regional assistance and information extremely helpful. Highly recommended if desiring a very tranquil stay next to a running stream, many birds, wonderful gardens and a vista out of this world. Taxis are inexpensive, local busses, and many restaurants and activities to experience. Highly recommended for singles, couples, and families if booking early.
Will never forget; will be back!
