About the property

Beautifully Remodeled Cottage Located 20 Minutes From Asheville

Long Branch Cottage was built in the late 1940's by cabinet maker Guy Rice. Sankey and Irene Bradley purchased the farmhouse and surrounding property in the 1960's and it remains in the Bradley family today. Beautifully remodeled in 2013 by Chad and Michelle Bradley and Chad's mom and dad, Charles and Linda Bradley, the house is located in Marshall, North Carolina. It is situated in a rural, picturesque setting, where cattle graze in pasture fields and neighbors still stop to say hello. The house now includes all of the latest conveniences with stainless steel appliances, exquisitely tiled bathrooms with tiled showers, and even a large soaking tub. No detail has been overlooked, even down to the handmade shower curtains.

Sit on the front porch and go back to a time gone past, when things were just a little slower. In early spring enjoy apple tree blossom in the 40 year old orchard established by Chad’s grandfather, Sankey Bradley. Wonder at what stories the 50 year old rhododendrons could tell, as you sit and gaze at the blooms. As the seasons transition into summer, enjoy the spacious back yard with a game of kickball with the kids. In fall watch the apple orchard carefully for deer grazing for apple drops or the occasional black bear looking for a treat as you appreciate the beauty of the leaves as they change color. When the weather turns cold and snowflakes start blowing, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate as you sit by the gas logs and turn on the lights to the Christmas tree that Michelle puts up every year. Appreciate the fact that you didn't have to put any effort into installing lights on the roof or garland on the porch railings, but that you do get to reap the benefits of a house beautifully decorated for the Christmas season.

Long Branch Guest Cottage has a spacious living room with gas logs, flat screen television and wireless internet. The galley kitchen has stainless countertops, all new stainless appliances and the original cast iron 'farmhouse' style sink. The dining room is light and airy with lots of windows for viewing wildlife and enjoying time with family. The cottage has two bedrooms with luxury sheets and quilts. The master bedroom with king bed ties into a beautifully tiled bathroom with a soaking tub large enough for two and an artistically tiled shower. The main bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower and bathroom sink complete with lots of luxurious towels. The second bedroom with king bed boasts plenty of light from large south and eastern facing windows.

Situated on 3.5 acres, enjoy viewing all of the wildlife from the covered porch, or grill out while the kids play a game of tag in the large yard.

Luxury towels and linens provided

Conveniently located 20 minutes to Asheville, 15 minutes to Weaverville and 5 minutes to downtown Marshall.

Superb cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most peaceful places on earth. My family and I really enjoyed it. Michelle is a superb host and the bread is delicious. The cottage is exactly as advertised plus a few more perks. This cottage was cleaner than most homes that people live in. Wonderful stay

Absolutely lovely! Very clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts were the best. We were stranded in an ice storm about 40 minutes away from the cottage, Michelle and Chad offered to come and get us, thankfully we did not need to take them up in their generous offer. The cottage is absolutely beautiful, clean, and so very comfortable. And of course, they were fresh bread and eggs that awaited our arrival. Thank you so much Michele and Chad for your gracious hospitality.

Felt like home as soon as we walked in ! Beds were so comfy. My husband loved the recliner in the living room as he has a bad back. Everything we needed was there, I would definitely return

Very clean and charming place in beautiful private area.

  • 5 of 5

The house was charming and exceptionally clean with newly renovated bathrooms and kitchen. The owners were so helpful with any requests made, and left a fresh baked loaf of bread and fresh eggs for us to enjoy. The bread was delicious. Very lovely farmhouse with comfortable beds and nice fireplace that made us feel like we were visiting family. Very enjoyable stay with very nice hosts.

Very quaint and quiet

  • 5 of 5

All the amenities and very clean.. Home made bread that was delicious and fresh eggs which were also delicious. Location was very convenient to Asheville. We loved Weaverville also.

The only complaint I would have is that the bed was just a little too soft for me. I have a bad back so it was hard to get comfortable. I definitely would recommend this house to anyone. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fort Mill, SC

Very peaceful and inviting!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was everything we hoped it would be and more. The owners stayed in touch and let us know they were just a text or call away if we needed anything(which we did not). The check-in and check-out was easy and very convenient. We were there for a weekend getaway for my wife's and sister-in-law's birthday and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and want to stay here every time we visit Asheville. The house was very updated and modern but still had a lot of the original charm from when the house was first built. We usually stay in a hotel when we visit Asheville but this was by far better than any hotel we could have ever stayed in. It was quaint with a lot of charm but still had more than enough room for the 4 of us. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit. The pictures are great but still doesn't do it justice. You must rent it to see it for yourself.

Along with the rafting, the French Broad has one of the best Smallmouth Bass Fisheries east of the Mississippi! Fabulous trout fishing is close by (be sure to check out the Laurel River and its catch and release section). Marshall, NC is a short five minute drive, (drop into Penland's Dept. store- a throw back to a time when chain stores didn't exist) along with Zuma Coffee shop for great wraps and cookies (live bluegrass on Thurs. night- look for grammy award winner Bobby Hicks and his 5 string fiddle) and Pork and Pie for fresh baked pizza. Downtown Weaverville, NC is only fifteen minutes away, with great dining and shopping (Curtis Wright Outfitters). Bring your family to one of the most central locations in the area for whitewater rafting, horseback riding, skiing/snowboarding, shopping, and dining, with so much to do you'll have to return several times to experience it all! All while enjoying a relaxing stay in a rural setting- you'll be amazed that you are so close to the hustle and bustle but so far away as well.
