Overview

About the property

Beautifully Remodeled Cottage Located 20 Minutes From Asheville

Long Branch Cottage was built in the late 1940's by cabinet maker Guy Rice. Sankey and Irene Bradley purchased the farmhouse and surrounding property in the 1960's and it remains in the Bradley family today. Beautifully remodeled in 2013 by Chad and Michelle Bradley and Chad's mom and dad, Charles and Linda Bradley, the house is located in Marshall, North Carolina. It is situated in a rural, picturesque setting, where cattle graze in pasture fields and neighbors still stop to say hello. The house now includes all of the latest conveniences with stainless steel appliances, exquisitely tiled bathrooms with tiled showers, and even a large soaking tub. No detail has been overlooked, even down to the handmade shower curtains.

Sit on the front porch and go back to a time gone past, when things were just a little slower. In early spring enjoy apple tree blossom in the 40 year old orchard established by Chad’s grandfather, Sankey Bradley. Wonder at what stories the 50 year old rhododendrons could tell, as you sit and gaze at the blooms. As the seasons transition into summer, enjoy the spacious back yard with a game of kickball with the kids. In fall watch the apple orchard carefully for deer grazing for apple drops or the occasional black bear looking for a treat as you appreciate the beauty of the leaves as they change color. When the weather turns cold and snowflakes start blowing, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate as you sit by the gas logs and turn on the lights to the Christmas tree that Michelle puts up every year. Appreciate the fact that you didn't have to put any effort into installing lights on the roof or garland on the porch railings, but that you do get to reap the benefits of a house beautifully decorated for the Christmas season.

Long Branch Guest Cottage has a spacious living room with gas logs, flat screen television and wireless internet. The galley kitchen has stainless countertops, all new stainless appliances and the original cast iron 'farmhouse' style sink. The dining room is light and airy with lots of windows for viewing wildlife and enjoying time with family. The cottage has two bedrooms with luxury sheets and quilts. The master bedroom with king bed ties into a beautifully tiled bathroom with a soaking tub large enough for two and an artistically tiled shower. The main bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower and bathroom sink complete with lots of luxurious towels. The second bedroom with king bed boasts plenty of light from large south and eastern facing windows.

Situated on 3.5 acres, enjoy viewing all of the wildlife from the covered porch, or grill out while the kids play a game of tag in the large yard.

Luxury towels and linens provided

Conveniently located 20 minutes to Asheville, 15 minutes to Weaverville and 5 minutes to downtown Marshall.

Very peaceful and inviting!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was everything we hoped it would be and more. The owners stayed in touch and let us know they were just a text or call away if we needed anything(which we did not). The check-in and check-out was easy and very convenient. We were there for a weekend getaway for my wife's and sister-in-law's birthday and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and want to stay here every time we visit Asheville. The house was very updated and modern but still had a lot of the original charm from when the house was first built. We usually stay in a hotel when we visit Asheville but this was by far better than any hotel we could have ever stayed in. It was quaint with a lot of charm but still had more than enough room for the 4 of us. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit. The pictures are great but still doesn't do it justice. You must rent it to see it for yourself.

Charming cottage in a relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

We were impressed the minute we walked in. This has been a very well cared for cottage and it was so clean! We appreciate all of the effort that was put into making this place comfortable and easy to wind-down in. We did read reviews that suggested bringing bottled water for drinking/coffee and so we picked some up before getting here. The water is full of iron, as to be expected in the mountains here, but was not a hindrance. We rent huge 4000+ sq. ft. houses every year for family gatherings and none compare to this cute little cottages cleanliness and ease of use! Thank you for blessing our family with a great weekend away.

Cozy Mountain Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Long Branch Cottage last weekend! The house was clean, cozy, and inviting, the kitchen well-equipped, the beds, pillows, and linens super comfy. Proximity to Asheville and Hendersonville was perfect as was the rural setting of the house with lovely grounds and friendly cow-neighbors:) Owners Chad and Michelle were totally accessible and went out of their way to welcome and accommodate us - even providing delicious homemade bread and eggs for breakfast! We will certainly book this property if our travels take us to the Asheville area again! Thank you!

Cozy little cottage with great amenities and friendly hosts

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I needed a break from the realities of the world, and this wonderful farmhouse fit the bill perfectly. We happened to stay during perhaps the only cold week of our 2017 winter, but suffice to say, this little house can hold its own to the wintery elements.

For those wanting (or perhaps needing/requiring) hi speed internet (WiFi), this place has it. Speed tests had excellent up/down stream speeds. I'm a computer nerd, so this impressed me probably more so than my wife.

One thing to consider (and this is not the fault of the owners by any imagination) is that cellular service in the mountains of North Carolina is sometimes very spotty. If you rely on your phone for its GPS capabilities, you'll likely want to use the house's hi speed internet to download offline maps of the areas that you want to visit before heading out.

As for the owners, they are very hospitable. There was one minor issue that really didn't impact our stay at all, but nevertheless, Michelle and Chad went above and beyond to take care of it for us! Thanks again for your help.

All in all, we would highly recommend this rental. It is quiet and peaceful. The gas logs make for a warm and relaxing time on a cold winter night.

Rent this house. You'll be happy you did!

Peaceful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Long Branch for 2 nights. It was a great location for exploring the small towns that are north of Asheville. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and we found it exactly as advertised. I thought that the rooms were even larger than the pictures depict, so that was a nice surprise! The cottage is very bright and warm feeling; the only room that was somewhat dark/(faced north?) was the Master. I was in the area for a Half Marathon in Marshall, so the location (about 7 minutes to town) was great for an early morning, and the fresh bread and eggs made for an easy post-race breakfast! We also visited Weaverville and Mars Hill where we ate at a great burger spot. My only small negative is that the water is very hard and high mineral content; I think it's iron, so you might want to bring bottled water to drink and for coffee and cooking. Also a colander if you plan to cook pasta! Thank so much for the great place and we'd definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Located a short 20 minute drive to the great dining and shopping of Asheville, NC (be sure to visit the largest private residence in the USA- the Biltmore House!). 12 Bones is a must eat- for truly Presidential Approved BBQ and Papas and Beer for the best Mexican this side of El Paso. Historic Hot Springs and the rejuvenating Hot Springs Spas is conveniently accessible via a scenic drive down HWY 25-70. Miles and miles of hiking trails await in the thousands of acres of national forest (the Appalachian trail crosses less than 15 miles away). Mountain biking is less than 10 miles, as is the French Broad River and its great mix of whitewater (lower section) and calm water (upper section) rafting. Along with the rafting, the French Broad has one of the best Smallmouth Bass Fisheries east of the Mississippi! Fabulous trout fishing is close by (be sure to check out the Laurel River and its catch and release section). Marshall, NC is a short five minute drive, (drop into Penland's Dept. store- a throw back to a time when chain stores didn't exist) along with Zuma Coffee shop for great wraps and cookies (live bluegrass on Thurs. night- look for grammy award winner Bobby Hicks and his 5 string fiddle) and Pork and Pie for fresh baked pizza. Downtown Weaverville, NC is only fifteen minutes away, with great dining and shopping (Curtis Wright Outfitters). Bring your family to one of the most central locations in the area for whitewater rafting, horseback riding, skiing/snowboarding, shopping, and dining, with so much to do you'll have to return several times to experience it all! All while enjoying a relaxing stay in a rural setting- you'll be amazed that you are so close to the hustle and bustle but so far away as well.
