Location! Location! Location! This apartment is part of a 'duplex' (side-by-side, QUIET flats) built in the 1920's with separate, private entrances; one bedroom, one bath on each side. Please see VRBO # 455693 for the adjacent rental space. [NOTE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had CANCELLATIONS IN JANUARY and MARCH 2017 in the adjacent unit noted.. THESE DATES WILL FILL FAST WHEN THE COLD WEATHER HITS IN THE NORTH].

The interior remodeling for this side was just completed with new kitchen cabinets and upscale appliances, which include a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with ice-maker, a dishwasher, an electric flat surface cooktop stove with large oven, and a microwave oven. The kitchen also comes equipped with all small appliances and tools needed for the gourmet cook. All floors are solid eco-friendly bamboo, except for the bathroom which is slate tile. The bedroom is a good size and features a queen-sized bed with storage drawers beneath, a four drawer dresser, a mirrored closet space with plenty of hangers. The open living/dining area is spacious and features contemporary style furnishings. The space also contains a work station/computer area with two seats and built-in WiFi.

There is a pet friendly, fenced, rear garden that has a great patio space with separate gas barbecues, and two separate dining tables with seating for four at each. The yard also includes a separate building which contains a clothes washer and electric dryer AND beach chairs for you to use when the occasion arises.

A five minute walk takes you to Arlington Park to enjoy free use of a heated Olympic sized pool, lighted tennis and basketball courts. There is a great walking/jogging trail through the park that leads to a fenced dog park. They also have a great PICKLE BALL League that meets 3 times a week in the gym.

For groceries you can just head to Publix, a fully stocked supermarket, which is just 1 1/2 miles away, or continue on to downtown in order to find the famous Whole Foods store. There are many other options too, like Morton's Gourmet Market (right in Southside Village).

And although the street location is extremely quiet, 'civilization' is about one mile away at Southside Village on the corner of Hillview and Osprey Streets, with shops, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes. For more excitement you can head to downtown Sarasota where Main Street is filled with many diverse shops and restaurants. At the lower end of Main Street you will find the bayfront marina where there is boat dockage, two waterfront restaurtants, and a great walking park along the waterfront. Nearby, a section of the old Ringling Bridge was saved and converted to a fishing pier with a bait shop, and pole rentals available.

A 5-6 mile drive takes you to either Sarasota's famous Crescent Beach on Siesta Key or Lido Beach on St. Armand's Key. Both areas are great for walking and have village-like areas for shopping and dining. If you are a golfer, there are a more than a dozen clubs to choose from (that suit all levels of play) that are within a 10 to 30 minute drive.

We have lived in Sarasota since 1979 and own a small custom remodeling company. Kit and I both grew up and got our college degrees in New Jersey where we met while we were teaching.

KIT purchased this cottage in 2007

Why KIT chose Sarasota

Waldemere Stereet is centrally located and provides easy access to downtown, the bay front, and the beaches if you head west, and going east there are many 'to do' things to partake of including golf courses, major and minor league baseball stadiums, serious shopping, nature parks with birds and aligators, a Big Cat Habitat for rescued circus and zoo animals. You can literally arrive at any of these places from Waldemere in less time than it will take to have lunch.

What makes this cottage unique

We enjoy the look of the 1920's Old Florida cottage on this quiet street, and the fact that we totally updated and modernized the interior.

Particularly special cottage with particularly special owners!

This was my third return to this wonderful, pet friendly cottage and each time I stay just a little bit longer because it is such a relaxing place to be. You couldn't ask for a better location and you want for nothing in this immaculate cottage. An added bonus is having such a terrific couple as Kit and John ensuring your vacation is as pleasant as possible. Staying is such a lovely place only adds to all that beautiful Sarasota has to offer. As always, looking forward to my next visit!

Little paradise

This cottage is absolutely amazing. From the first moment we felt so comfortable and we fell in love instantly. The pictures can't even show, how beautiful this cottage truly is!

The cottage was very clean, beautifully furnished and filled with absolutely everything you could need for a vacation (even umbrellas, beach chairs, beach towels etc.). There is not one thing Kat and John didn't think of.

The location was also perfect. Everything you need (beaches, supermarkets, restaurants etc.) is close by.

Furthermore John and Kat were so helpful with all informations around the condo and leisure activities. They even left us little presents. To make a long story short, they were wonderful hosts.

The only problem with our stay was, that it wasn`t long enough!

We have to say a BIG thank you to Kat and John for having us. We would love to come back in december but unfortunately everything is booked out. But we will definitely come back next year.

Perfect in every way!

Even after reading the wonderful reviews, Kit and John's home and hospitality were beyond our expectations. They were there to greet us upon our arrival and gave us a tour of all the cottages amenities. We immediately felt right at home. The cottage was abundantly equipped with all the essentials and more. The beautiful contemporary decor was immaculate and there was ample storage throughout. John's biscotti was the best and a great addition to our morning coffee. The property is situated almost exactly between Lido and Siesta Key beaches and is dangerously close to Trader Joe's. We would definitely choose to stay here again!

Wonderful stay again!

This was the second time for me to stay in this cottage. This time was other side of unit but it was wonderful as well.

Kit and John are great owner. They made sure that I got everything I needed and received wonderful customer service.

It is close to everything, it was perfect for me and my children.

I will look forward to come back again.

Simply Wonderful

My wife and I stayed at this property for our anniversary not too long ago and the residence was simply wonderful. The property, while nicely portrayed online was even better in person. The decor, cleanliness and functionality of the space was wonderful and ideal. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to feel like a Food Network chef. There are two outdoor grills for each of the apartments, and an outdoor shower for washing off sand from the beach trips prior to trekking it through the house. They also have a laundry room which is convenient so that you don't have to pack your dirty clothes with you clean clothes when its time to leave. The location is central to just about everything, maybe 10 mins or less from shops, restaurants, beach, parks, etc... The residential neighborhood is safe, quiet at night, and is great for walking or jogging. We particularly loved the Olympic size community pool about two blocks away as we went in the mornings and it was not crowded. The hosts were very accommodating, sending one or two texts throughout our five day stay to let us know that they were available if we needed. Upon arrival, we met the host couple who greeted us and made us feel at home, providing us with additional information about the area, things to do/see, etc... Next time we are in Sarasota, we know exactly where we are staying!

Insanely Great!

We stayed for 1 week and had a great time. We felt at home the minute we moved in.

Everything is as advertised - but in reality it is even better.

There is everything you need and enough additional in storage for your stay. (Towels, Detergent, Soap, Kitchen Paper...)

The interior is put together tasteful and everything is clean. John and Kit are cosmopolitan minds and understand a traveler's needs - and if there should be anything left to do they will go the extra mile to help where they can.

It is a safe neighborhood and you can park right in front of the apartment which was handy for our many trips to the different beaches.

We look forward to return some day, thank you so much.

Wir waren 1 Woche dort und fanden es großartig. Wir haben uns sofort wie zuhause gefühlt.

Alles ist wie beschrieben - und in Realität sogar noch besser.

Alles was man braucht ist vorhanden und von allem etwas in Reserve. (Handtücher, Waschmittel, Seife, Küchenpapier...)

Die Inneneinrichtung ist geschmackvoll und alles ist sauber. John und Kit sind weltoffen & bereist und wissen, was man als Reisender braucht-

und wenn etwas nicht in Ordnung sein sollte, sind sie erreichbar und hilfsbereit.

Das Appartment liegt in einer sicheren Gegend und man kann direkt davor parken - was praktisch für unsere vielen Ausflüge zu den tollen Stränden war.

Wir hoffen eines Tages wieder zu kommen - vielen Dank an John & Kit.
