About Jill and Jerry Baker
We are empty nesters with two adult, professional children. We met while attending the University of Colorado in Boulder and were married in 1986. We have raised our kids here and they too are huge outdoor enthusiasts. From their earliest days they have skied, biked, run, camped and fished in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. We make a trek to the mountains most weeks and feel truly blessed to enjoy all that our state has to offer. We hope you feel the same way when you visit our home in Crested Butte.
Jill and Jerry Baker purchased this House in 2013
Why Jill and Jerry Baker chose Crested Butte
After owning a property in Summit County for 18 years we became disenchanted with the touristy, year round crowds, local traffic and crazy commute times on I-70. We decided to explore the abundant resort towns in Colorado looking for a more authentic feel and down to earth ski town experience and landed in CB! After spending a summer week in CB and falling in love with the natural surrounding area, we rented long term to see if we loved the area year round. With a resounding yes, we knew this was where we wanted to vacation and retire. It took us 9 months to find a perfect mix of a Historical property with eco-friendly construction, green materials and with high efficiency HVAC systems. (Thoughtful construction leaving a minimal footprint on the environment was very important to us!) The Historical section of the home gave us a piece of the mining history of CB we were drawn to with new open spaces to fit all of our families needs. The new, empty home provided a palette to create our dream mountain home. We wanted to design the home to be airy, light , comfortable and fun. The stodgy and overdone design of the typical mountain home featuring antler chandeliers, browns, dark reds, dark greens and heavy curtains were a look we wanted to avoid. We opted for a take on a Bavarian 5 star hotel with greens, pinks and comfortable down furnishing and bedding to sink into. The old and new sections of the home delight the eye and allow the occupants to feel a part of history of CB while luxuriating in the newest and best of comfortable living. In my design I always look for a few key pieces to delight and surprise the visitor. I hope you will easily spot my whimsical pieces and smile at the humor intended. Enjoy!!!
What makes this House unique
Aside from the design aspects of our home both inside and out, the proximity of our in-town home to everything CB has to offer makes your stay fun and easy. Once you are here a car is not needed. (A shuttle from the Gunnison Airport is an easy 20 minute ride.) The grocery store and the shuttle to Mt Crested Butte and are two easy blocks away. Historic Elk Avenue, where you find the action is one block away. We wanted to be able to walk and ride everywhere with our family, friends and future generations.

Two weeks at 512 sopris
This was our second trip to 512 Sopris with our sons and their families - 10 of us. We all enjoyed it more the second time! Great house and great location - two blocks from Elk avenue and two locks from Camp 4 coffee. The owner is always available by phone or text and so easy to work with.
We love the private master suite and the well stocked kitchen and appliances.
Thanks Nancy! So great to have your family back again! We so appreciate how respectful you are of our home! I hope you come back. Thanks for visiting CB! :) :) :)
Great home and location - Owner was great
We stayed at this home for Spring Break 2019. The home is a great in town location. Walk to everything with ease. Ample space for our group. The downstairs has 4 Full Size bunks to sleep 8 kids of all ages. Kids loved having their own space. Owner was great and communication was easy. The home is STOCKED with plenty of towels and cooking items. Would definitely rent this home again. Thanks for allowing us to stay.
Charming Cozy and Historic
Such a beautiful, well-cared for, well-appointed property. Our children had a wonderful time walking down main street and knowing that "home" (for the week) was close by. Cozy beds - great kitchen. Over all, a terrific spot. Very grateful to the Bakers.
It was great to share our home with your family! Thanks for visiting!
Wonderfull appointed and meticulously kept house in the middle of Crested Butte.
This house was perfect for us, a gem right in the center of Crested Butte.
The house was everything we could have dreamed of! Lots of space inside and out! Perfect location!
We had such a marvelous stay at the Baker’s house. Came to CB for my youngest daughter’s wedding and stayed there with 9 adults and 3 babes under 2. Welcomed with lovely treats! The house layout is so great with super comfy bedrooms tucked away from beautifully decored living spaces. Weather was perfect so we enjoyed being outside on the back deck and hanging around the firepit at night. It was the first time to CB for many of our party so being so close to Elk was key. I really couldn’t have imagined a better time! Thank you for sharing your CB paradise!
This is a beautiful home in a GREAT location in downtown Crested Butte!
This house if beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. We stayed there for close to a week with our adult children and grandchildren. It was great to have the bicycles to cruise around town with. Really no need to even have a car. There is a convenient shuttle that can take you up to Mt. Crested Butte as well as around town. The grocery store is just a couple of blocks away and Elk street is one block away with all of the shops and restaurants. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook. Additionally, the bathrooms are stocked with soap, shampoo/conditioner, and body lotion.
So fortunate to have amazing renters like you! Thanks for coming to our home in CB!
