Very impressive house, newly remodeled.
Good time had by all..
Great family reunion property.
We had s lovely time in this beautiful spacious home. The weather was cold and raining majority of the week so it was nice that the 16 of us had plenty of space to spread out and be comfortable. My only wish would be there was a little more beach accessibility.
Nice enough house; misleading advertising
My overall statement is that this house was fabulous in many ways for 11 of us who gathered for a week on the Cape. However, misleading information in the ad meant we ended up being pretty disappointed with some key elements.
The benefits of this property have already been discussed in other reviews and are fairly evident from the ad - big house, lots of different spaces, nice lawn area, plentiful parking, and some nice eating areas.
The three biggest sore spots for us were the beach house, private beach, and views. We selected this property over other less-expensive options mostly because of these amenities, all of which were huge disappointments.
The beachfront "cabana" that is described as "the most special amenity" is now a ramshackle little structure that evidently was damaged by a storm. We actually had to request it be unlocked so we could use accessories to better enjoy the beach. In fact, the main photo on VRBO no longer exists (there is NO area to sit or hang out to enjoy the beach area, take a nap, etc), there are no boats available for use, and there is very little in the way of buckets, beach chairs, etc.
The private beach is sectioned off according to property. As we learned from a neighbor who shooed us off his section, the beach available to this property is covered in sea grass. So after our first morning of accidentally trespassing with children to build sand castles and play at the water's edge, we never really went back to the beach because there was no sand available. Major bummer!
Finally, we anticipated being able to actually see Pleasant Bay from the house, but only one bedroom really had any view of which to speak. The rest of the house could have views if it weren't for the overgrown foliage (and perhaps there are better views during colder months after leaves have fallen).
One other detail is that the kitchen is NOT a "gourmet kitchen" as it is described in this property's main website. The knives were poor quality and dull, and any pans to cook eggs were charred or had Teflon flaking off.
FEW EXTRA POINTS
- Very few hangers in the closets
- Umbrella on upstairs deck broken
- Bedrooms really are lovely
- Only 1-2 bedrooms had window treatments that blocked light
In sum, this house was nice enough, and my gripes have much more to do with misleading information than lack of enjoyment. We did have a great week, but could have enjoyed the same at a much lower cost.
Recently had the pleasure of a wonderful week at this beautiful home; there were 14 of us and space for all. Terrific kitchen to work in and adjoining eating space made for some memorable meal times. Great location about mid-way between Lighthouse & Nauset Beaches. Enjoyed Arnold's for their famous fried seafood and the Wellfleet Drive In flea market was a hit as well. Close proximity to the bike trail was a plus.
Great house for large families
There was plenty of room for 11 of my family. Everyone could be together or have a private space of their own. The beach was great for our daily walks. The lawn areas had room for paddle ball. All in all we had a wonderful week, one that my family will remember. We traveled to the cape from the west coast the beaches and area are so different. We had a lobster dinner and the kitchen was fully stocked to prepare a complete clambake.
