Gorgeous Views / Design Marais Loft

Bedrooms 1
Space 355 sq. ft.
Property type apartment

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

Welcome to the cozy loft/apartment where I lived for the last 8 years!

I look forward to welcoming you in Paris and will do my best for you to have a wonderful experience.

A very nice, bright, clean and tidy, newly renovated 4th floor apartment with gorgeous views on National Archives and private mansions, located in a 17th-century Marais building with old, exposed, structural beams, in a charming, very central and safe area.

Located a couple a meters from the National Archives (where Sofia Coppola shot scenes of her movie 'Marie-Antoinette' in 2006)

Among the famous inhabitants of the street were Madame de Sévigné and Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais who lived there from 1756.

The building is at the corner of two beautiful, historical streets of old Paris, with great views from the windows on:

Hôtel de Saint-Aignan (now the Museum of Jewish Art and History)

Hôtel de Montmor, one of the most exquisite Parisian private mansions, built in 1623, now hosting a top-model agency and two famous art galleries (Marian Goodman & JGM)

Hôtel de Clisson & Hôtel de Soubise (now National Archives)

The loft sleeps 4 people comfortably in 2 distinct spaces:

- 1 queen size (140x190 cm), very comfortable, high quality bed (spring mattress) in the bedroom,

- 1 king-size (160x200cm), very comfortable, high-quality leather sofa - fold out bed in the living room.

The bedroom and the living room can be separated by unfolding a specially designed wooden screen. When the screen is kept open, the apartment is a spacious loft.

Upon special request, an extra, single mattress can be added for a 5th guest.

The 4 windows are soundproof and have light-blocking curtains, tropical solid wooden floor.

3 windows are on one side of the building, the 4th one is on another one, allowing a nice cross breeze between them when open. Heat is never extreme in the apartment, but a complimentary fan can be provided if necessary.

Equipment includes:

- free high speed internet/wi-fi and free phone to landlines in the US,

- hairdryer, towel heater

- kettle, toaster, coffee & nespresso machine,

- stove top & cooker hood, washing & drying machine, dishwasher, traditional & micro-wave oven, refrigerator with a freezer section

- iron & ironing board, vacuum cleaner

- I provide linens and towels - they can be changed weekly for long stays

- upon check-in, refrigerator always containscomplimentary food and fresh juice for your first breakfast

About Boris

Thanks for your visit!

I'm a real Parisian, a musician, an actor and a psychologist!

I'm fond of culture & arts in general, in particular classical music and opera.

I lived in NYC, London and Rome.

Having traveled quite a lot, I realize how important a central location and a beautiful view are... That's why the apartments I'm listing here meet these criteria...

I'm very happy to make my two apartments available to the great community, it's a great opportunity to meet nice people from all over the world. Don't hesitate to tell me more about you!

I look forward to welcoming you in Paris.

Boris purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Boris chose Paris Arr. 3 (Marais, Picasso Museum)

When I first visited this apartment, I literally feel in love with the unique atmosphere and views!

Very nice stay!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I spent nearly a month at Boris' apartment while we were doing research at various libraries in Paris. We loved how much light there was in the apartment. And of course, the location is terrific. The apartment is very comfortable, and certainly large enough for two. The divider that splits the room in two was helpful and enabled us to have a bit more privacy. We were there when Paris experienced quite a bad heat wave (in the mid-90s for 5 days with temperatures up to 100!). Boris brought us a second fan, which was very nice of him. The apartment was still super hot, but not much hotter than most buildings in the city where there really isn't much AC. The only drawback was that it could be quite loud in the apartment, especially at night over the weekends. There is a bar in the building right next door, and people were often outside drinking until late into the night. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return!

True Paris

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time I had used a vacation rental by owner property and it will be a new travel must for the future. This apartment was perfect. We are 3 women in our 50's. Our daughters are best friends and 6 years ago mothers and 16 year old daughters had a Paris trip all planned. A volcano in Iceland erupted and cancelled our trip. This trip was a do over minus daughters. I was encouraged by colleagues at work to check out VRBO as it would give 3 of us more room than any hotel could offer. So happy with our choice!

The apartment is situated in the middle of the Marais area. The best place to stay in Paris. You are immersed in the lifestyle immediately! You are surrounded by history, museums, restaurants, transportation and a street around the corner bursting with activity, supermarkets and bakeries. We always felt safe and comfortable. We challenged our way through the metro system from the airport and were met by Benjamin who was getting our apartment ready. We arrived early morning from overseas. The apartment is bright and airy and clean and although the bathroom is small it was just fine for the 3 of us. The beds were very comfy, the windows were high and lovely to look out of. The old historic buildings and rooftops surrounding us were the perfect view. We were always looking forward to our home away from home after full days of walking and sightseeing. We had a little cheese in the fridge and olives, baguette and wine. There is a full kitchen although we did not cook. We would sit late evening with the windows open at our kitchen table and laugh and go through the adventurous beautiful day we had and we would make plans for our next day. We loved discovering the neighbourhood also! There is a winding staircase climb of 4 flights which to us was absolutely charming and not a problem. It is a 17th century building after all! It is all part of the experience! We were very pleased with our stay and I would love to call this apartment my home away from home once again someday!

Exactly what we hoped for!

  • 5 of 5

This loft was a great place to stay! We enjoyed the neighborhood a lot and found the apartment to be just as described. It's clean and quite charming, and made a really nice cozy home base for the four of us (a mom and three teens) from which to explore Paris for several days. There are plenty of cafés, shops, bakeries, grocery markets, etc. nearby. It's an easy walk to the metro and the Pompidou Centre, but enough off the main road to feel a bit more peaceful. The owner, Boris, was very friendly, and he was great about communicating with us beforehand and during our stay. He provided very helpful and thorough instructions about locating the apartment and all the things we might need to know while we were there. No complaints at all. We had a wonderful stay.
