Mark grew up in the Cedar Grove area and on the farm where we now live. We are 5th generation on the farm. We have a working dairy farm -milking 130 cows and a herd of 26 llamas and 2 alpacas and a dog, Samson, and a few farm cats. I was born in Germany and moved to America with my family when I was 6. We moved to Iron Mountain, Michigan, where we learned to speak English and American way of life. I moved to the huge city of Sheboygan after graduation where Mark & I met.
We bought land from Mark's parents on the east side of I-43 and east of Mark's parents farm. We lived there until Mark's parents retired from farming and Mark took over the farm. Mark's parents moved into our house and we moved into the farm home. We currently live and work on the farm, which is about 4 miles from the vacation house. Can you tell we LOVE this area!!!!?
Mark & Brigitte DeMaster purchased this chateau / country house in 2014
We wanted to purchase this property back because we LOVE the location and Brigitte's dad helped build it. It was our first home, and lots of great memories here with our kids being little.
This home was peaceful, comfortable, clean! The owners were so dear. On our arrival we were greeted with homemade muffins & cheese curds made from the milk of their cows. The backyard had a fire pit & we spent each evening gathered around the fire! Even though we weren't right on Lake Michigan, it was just around the corner. The nearby state park, Kohler- was a great place to visit! Would we go again? Absolutely!!!!
We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend with our two dogs. We loved the serene tranquil atmosphere of the home. If you are looking for a place to unwind, this is the place. The owners could not be any nicer. We greatly appreciate all the homemade goodies too. Do yourself a favor and take some time, sit back and enjoy all that Wisconsin has to offer. The sounds and scenery are something you have just got to see for yourself.
Came out to get away from it all for the holiday weekend and this home did not disappoint! As many other reviewers have wrote, the hosts are so welcoming and ready to help with questions and suggestions. It is indeed easy access to get to Cedarburg, Sheboygan, Green Bay, etc. We went to Cedarburg for their Oktoberfest which was a great time and highly recommended. The home has everything you could need and is spacious enough to accommodate a good size group. The surrounding property itself is large and privately set back from the street so lots of open green space around to relax and take in the fresh air/wildlife. The home had cable TV, dvd and a sound system so we were able to watch NFL games, movies and just channel surf is we wanted to. All in all the house is super cozy and we'll definitely come back again in the future to get away. Thanks!
This was a perfect location to enjoy Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Port Washington. The home was very clean, had everything one would need, and located in a beautiful, quiet area. The main purpose of our trip was fishing in Port Washington, about a 20 minute drive, and it was wonderful to be able to grill our own fish each night. We also were fortunate enough to get go visit the llamas and take home some Bahr Creek Fiber Studio coffee cups! We hope to come back sometime soon!
This house has great space for everyone and fully equipped for everything you need from cooking to making smores at the fire to relaxing in the evening with games or big-screen tv. Being so close to the lake is great and the amount of animals you can encounter around the house and nearby trails is lovely. The hosts are so welcoming and ready to help with questions and suggestions. It is easy access to get to Sheboygan, Green Bay, etc. So much to see and do in the are. My family of 5 loved it for our long extended stay -- it was truly home away from home.
It is only 14 miles from the village of Kohler and the Kohler design center, Kohler Market shopping area, Black Wolf Run. Elkhart Lake is 25 miles away and June Sprints.
Breaker Bay Water Park at Blue Harbor is only 15 miles and beautiful Lake Michigan Marina and parks are wonderful places to visit. To the south there is Harrington State Park, a wonderful place to hike around the quarry and along Lake Michigan. We are very close to Lake Michigan but there is no public access within walking distance. It is all private property along the beach. sorry.
