Why Maurice Maio chose Mission Beach

We fell in love with the location at Pismo Ct. in Mission Beach - great ocean view, roof top deck and more!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Maurice and his team are extremely responsive and communicative throughout the process and trip. San Diego does not get much rain and it got pounded with rain which caused a leak in one of the bedrooms. Maurice and Emily came right over and addressed the issue. For the inconvenience, Maurice took care of us and put us up at another one of his houses on the beach immediately. Thank you SO MUCH Emily and Maurice for being such a great host and making sure my family had a great vacation all around!! We can't wait to come back!

Not what you pay for.....expected cleaner@least!

  • 1 of 5

I knew this place was an older home but I didn't expect to feel like I was staying in the western first off it wasn't very clean I had to go thru the entire home and nf sanitize everything including the bathrooms & bathtubs I found what appeared to be pubic hair, the floor was unswept & mopped the bed didn't fit the frames right they overlapped the frame and there was barely enough space for your luggage no closets or any where to hang anything up, there was no ventilation in any of the bathrooms don showers were very steamy and hot there are windows you could open in there but then the neighbors could see directly in. Dining space says & has a table&chairs that seat 8 but really there's only enough room for 3-4 ppl. There is an ant problem in the dining area as well. But it was extremely close to the beach just steps away & had a good view from the rooftop. Mind you it's 3 stories all together but very tight living space. And on top of all that they expect for you to clean the entire house besides picking up after yourself syrup all the linens and wash a load before you leave and then charge you an unnecessary cleaning fee. So if you decide to stay here make sure to bring your cleaning supplies I guarantee you'll need them.....

Perfect House for Groups

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for Spring Break, and it was absolutely perfect. Having 3 comfy beds and 2 additional futons, along with 2 showers and another half bath makes it great for large groups. The kitchen had everything we could have needed. And you can't beat the rooftop deck with the grill! Definitely the best feature of the house. It's a skip away from the boardwalk and has an outdoor shower which helped keep the sand down in the house. Would come back again in a heartbeat.

Not nice at all.

  • 1 of 5

Well the ants seemed at home. I have been staying in Mission for over 15 years and this is by far the least appealing place I have stayed. The beds are not comfortable. The place is very small. The furnishings are all very cheap. I felt like I was in a dorm room. The roof top deck is very nice, but don't use the grill. It is completely rusted. But the ants all over the place seemed to really like it.

Wonderful location - House was basic and okay - Had a nice time

  • 3 of 5

The location of this house is excellent. It is a one minute walk to Mission Beach and a slightly longer one to the bayside. This part of the peninsula was nice because it was not quite as crazy as Pacific Beach in the north or the Belmont Park area in the south. The house was a little different than we expected. What serves as a living room was on the second floor with two futons for couches. The only outdoor seating was on the roof or in small outer decks with no view. It was hard to get up to the roof and it was a bit cold and windy, so we didn't really use it. Bedrooms were small. The beds were comfortable and there was a TV in each room. There were six of us there. Two were children who slept on the futons. It was nice to have 3 bathrooms. Having the garage was really nice as parking elsewhere was very tight. We managed to park two cars in there (a tight fit). Furniture and decorations are very basic. There are not a lot of amenities in the house. The essentials are there. We called because a towel rack came off the wall. They responded quickly and also addressed a missing remote and screens missing from some windows. We would love to return to the area and might rent this house again. However, we would prefer one with a real living room and an outdoor patio like the two rental units on the sides of this one.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Great location 1 block out the front door to the beach. 3 bedrooms plus 2 sleeping beds / couches in the family room. Tight in the kitchen for a group larger than 6. Tight parking - 2 cars max. Very limited parking options after that - $65.00 a day for parking at a nearby (.5 mile) hotel or public parking that is somewhat sketchy. Overall a great location and a decent place. Thanks for a great stay.

Smelly & Springy Beds...not the place for me!

  • 1 of 5

If you are looking for a really nice house with lots of space, this is not for you. If all you care about is location and don’t mind being super cozy with your housemates, this might be your place. First, the parking is super tight. You drive down an alley and have to squeeze into the garage. My step-mom was scared to do it so someone had to do it for her every time she returned. The beds were REALLY uncomfortable. Imagine sleeping on several springs poking through your back. I’m pregnant and wanted to cry the first time I laid down, knowing I had to spend three nights there. Lots of little things were wrong with the place; lights that didn’t work, toilets that ran continuously and clogged, etc. It’s not a very well maintained place. When we first checked in, my dad swore he smelled puke in the “living room,” but we all teased him saying he was imagining things. By the second day, a few of us could smell puke. On our last evening there, the smell became unbearable. We spent a good portion on the last night of our family trip searching for the origin of the smell. Some thought it was in the wall, the floorboards, the curtains, a chair, the vent, etc. We never did find it, but let me tell you, it wasn’t pleasant. I wish someone would have told us there was no recycling because it felt horrible to toss everything in the trash (which was more than half full when we got there), causing us to run out of trash space. Overall, I would say steer clear of this spot.

Owner's Response: Leigh we're so sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the property, and we wish you would have contacted us at ANY point during your stay. We have the highest reviews, and always want to make sure everyone's stay is pleasurable. We would have responded immediately, and would have done anything we could to remedy the situation. I'm not sure if you've been to Mission Beach before, but all of the properties are situated very close together. Most properties don't provide parking, so it's somewhat of a luxury to have a garage. This is the first we've heard of any fowl smells, and we'll be sure to let our housekeepers know. What bed was uncomfortable? The owner had just stayed there before your arrival, and replaced a lot of the mattresses, so we're surprised to hear that they weren't great. I absolutely share your frustration regarding the recycling situation, and wish there were far more bins. We contacted the City over a month ago and paid for them to bring another bin, however they said it takes approximately 10 weeks, so hopefully we'll receive a new one soon. I wish you would have let us know of the lights and running toilet. We have maintenance personnel that are on-call 24 hours a day, and would have been there immediately to fix/replace anything that was needed. Regardless, we hope that you enjoyed the time with your family at the beach, and hope to see you sometime in the future.
