About Heidi Benzonelli

This is Heidi's 4th local vacation property, all have their own unique charm. An Engineer and Building Scientist by trade, Heidi is the Owner of Eureka Vacation Rentals and the President of Westside Community Improvement Association, a neighborhood group that is resurrecting an abandoned neighborhood school (Iefferson) and building a free public park and community center just down the street from this home.

Heidi has a commitment to neighborhood improvement and historic preservation which is exemplified by her properties and her work.

Why Heidi Benzonelli chose Downtown

Heidi owns the Pink Craftsman nextdoor and could notbear to see this one stand empty ornot be loved. The 2 properties (the Pink Craftsman and The Ship's Inn were historically adjoining properties, built by the same master shipbuildier and owned by the same family. It only made sense to adopt the Ship's Inn into the Eureka Vacation Rental Family

What makes this estate unique

The hidden treasures of this home are in the details of the wood work, the beautifully preserved woodwork and Victorian Craftsmanship.

Beautifully maintained property. Comfortable and homey. Great location..

We had three generations and all were happy with property. Young grandchildren saw a glimpse of history or "the old days". Close to all necessities and Highway 101 for sightseeing. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful Historical Building

  • 5 of 5

The vibe in this home is welcoming and relaxing. We spent time in each room pointing out the the details. The chandelier ceiling plates alone are spectacular.

I personally enjoyed the back garden seating area. The only guest that may have enjoyed it more than myself was my little dog.

Heidi is helpful and only a call away if needed, and at the same time, does not crowd the tenants. I appreciate the freedom while staying in anothers home.

This house is stunning!

  • 5 of 5

I love everything about this house, the beautiful wood, antiques, the roses, its history. When we arrived I wandered throughout, exploring all the rooms, in amazement. We cooked in the roomy kitchen, sat around the table telling ghost stories, and had a great time sneaking up on each other (lots of places to hide), and bursting into laughter!

Comfortable, warm and cozy - will definitely come back!

Owner's Response: Mia and family, I am so glad you loved this home, it is one of my very very favorites. It is just impossible not to think about the rich history and imagine what it was like during the early years in Humboldt. We can not wait to host you again. Heidi

Great Victorian

We enjoyed the old Victorian home! We had all the space we could possibly need. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked for all cooking needs. Style and decor really sent you back in time. Loved it!

Beautiful old home, the kids loved it!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a few days while visiting family and the local coastline, 5 of us including little kids, and everyone loved it. Some of these large old Victorian homes can be hard to heat, but this one was very comfortable despite the chilly weather, and warmed up very quickly. We liked the large kitchen and made use of the laundry room, and had more bathrooms than we needed. The giant ship's wheel in the entryway was a big hit with the children. The property managers were helpful, but we didn't need anything. I only regret that we couldn't get the player piano in the front parlor to play by itself. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I save that rating for only the most fantastic, over-the-top accommodations. This one I can recommend wholeheartedly!

My family truly enjoyed staying at this house. We slept soundly. Though, I think our 11 year old was disappointed that it wasn't haunted. At least we didn't hear or see anything out of the ordinary. LOL. Lovely historic Victorian charm. Really a neat find and grand experience. Having a washer/dryer to use was a HUGE plus! I will have to add that some people may find the kitchen less than desirable (renovation/remodel-wise) but the fridge was clean and operational as was the stove and microwave. It worked for this family! We would definitely stay again. This is an excellent base for exploring the greater Humboldt/Redwood area - especially if your family is not into pitching tents or staying in cabins. If anyone wants to experience historic Eureka this is IT!
