About the property

Split-level Mountain Retreat, 4 Bdrm, 3 Full Bath, Parking On Both Levels

Come and relax in the Great Smoky Mountains and enjoy the wonderful view of the mountains from the spacious porch of your home!

The living room is fronted with a wall of windows overlooking three separate mountain ranges. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and welcoming. Light a wood fire (wood provided) and curl up in plush leather chairs and the couch near the stone fireplace with a good book. Gather around the kitchen island for conversation and wine. Or, pull up a chair on the front porch with a steaming cup of coffee and gaze out over the mountains and valley.

Sleeping arrangements include a large master suite with a king bed and private master bath. There are two additional bedrooms furnished with queen beds, and the lower level has comfortable bunk-beds for the kids or an extra guest or two. Both the master suite and the downstairs have excellent mountain views and access to the deck. Three full baths.

You will find skiing, hiking, tubing, white water rafting, shopping, fishing, golfing, the Biltmore in Asheville and much more in the surrounding area. Historic downtown Waynesville has excellent restaurants and shops you won't want to miss. All of this only 15 minutes or less from your front door! A ten mile drive takes you to Cataloochee Valley to see the protected elk (you may see an elk wandering on the road going up the mountain to your home!), an easy 30 minutes to Asheville and all of its amenities, and only 45 minutes to historic Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge!

About Scott Williamson

Growing up in Florida, as a youth, I hiked these mountains and fell in love with their majesty and serenity. As I began contemplating retirement, it only took one trip back to tour the greater Asheville region to know that I'd found my destination. Until I do retire, I plan to spend every moment possible in these wonderful surroundings, but until it's permanent, I wanted to share it with as many other people as possible because I do believe the mountains are magical and have such a restorative impact on the soul. I hope you decide to spend some time in The Treehouse and I hope your experience proves me correct.

Scott Williamson purchased this house in 2013

Why Scott Williamson chose Smoky Mountains

Once settled on the greater Asheville region, I began visiting all the neighboring towns because I wanted to be in the mountains, but with easy access to Asheville. After visiting the major towns in the vicinity, I chose Waynesville because of its location and its quaint thriving downtown. Then I enrolled with two different broker's sites which emailed me house listings meeting my specifications on a daily basis. Houses I liked I saved and at multiple times I had up to 30 houses in my saved folder. But as purchase time approached, we became very specific about what we wanted in a house, down to the elevation, the living/dining/kitchen great-room approach, nice master suite, fireplace, full baths, large garage, AMPLE deck, and of course, a stunning year-round southern exposure view. The property list dwindled significantly, and after visiting eight potentials, we came to this property and it quite simply met every requirement we desired. We have done some updating and plan some additional updates (cosmetic) to get an even more Treehousey feel to it, but any opportunity to look out the wall of glass overlooking the valley surrounded my those gorgeous mountains just reinforces that we made the right decision.

What makes this house unique

The great room makes up the living, dining, and kitchen areas so that entertaining is easy, all of which overlooks the beautiful mountain vista. The master suite is large with king size accommodations and separate master bath with custom walk-in shower. The two guest rooms accommodated with queen beds are ample and each has its own closet storage. Situated between the two is another full size bath. The downstairs is equipped with two sets of bunk beds (can sleep four kids or two adults/two kids - sorry, no adults on upper bunks!), a full size attached bath and a separate TV with DVD player in case the kids want to escape from the adults. Both the master suite and the downstairs loft have expansive mountain views and access to the deck on their respective levels. The split-level driveway makes access easy to each level of the house. There is a washer/dryer in the downstairs bath for your use and convenience. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, baking accessories, common spices, dishware and cutlery, and major kitchen appliances.

Thanksgiving Retreat

  • 5 of 5

At a very stressful time in our families' lives, this was the perfect place to give us some time away. The cabin sets at the end of a road so we were able to let our dogs and grandchildren run around without other car worries.

We have stayed in the Smokeys for over 20 years and this place has one of the most spectacular views we had ever seen. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and we were able to do it all with the equipment on hand. The only extra we brought was our keurig to make instant cups of coffee or hot chocolate. Even the weather cooperated and was perfect.

Everything was as promised in the reviews and listing. Our two granddaughters had the basement to themselves and loved it. We made use of a couple of videos on the shelves.

Our trip was cut short by an emergency but this was the perfect reprieve that we needed. Thanks for making your home available. We treated it with the same respect we treat our own things, because it was so nice, how could we do anything different.

Beautiful surroundings of color in the mountains.

  • 5 of 5

This home had all the comforts of home in a beautiful setting on the mountain side. We were there Oct. 15 thre 22, and the color was amazing. We enjoyed a very nice luncheon at the "Sweet Onion" restaurant and toured the craft shops in both Maggie Valley and in Waynesville. The house is supplied with all the cooking, cleaning, and entertainment items that you will need. I would definitely go back there again.

The home was beautiful -- in a beautiful location -- and in excellent condition. The location was close to all that we wanted to see. Highly recommended.

Spectacular Mountain Home Rental

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a Thanksgiving get-a-way with our Daughter's family. The view of Maggie Valley and surrounding Smoky Mountains is spectacular, even with all the leaves down for the year. The home has a perfect double bunk bed lower level for kids and easy fit for the 7 of us. Could easily support 4 more and two to three families. We found the home had a well equipped kitchen and the open family room/kitchen that has a vaulted ceiling with an entire wall of windows facing generally west into the Smoky Mountains. Spectacular sunsets. Access via Utah Mountain road is mostly paved with a short 1/4 mile gravel road section. Property has a paved driveway. Part of the access road is steep, so if you rent in winter, you will need good tires and 4-wheel drive. Little chance of snow in November, so access was no issue for us. Owner provided good directions and check-in/out guidance. Grocery store and general shopping is about 6 miles away south on U.S. 276 just into Waynesville. Gas and some decent restaurants closer in Maggie Valley. Bottom line, I give this place 5/5 stars and we would rent it again. - Mike Howland, Omaha, NE

The Tree House is "Tree-mendous!"

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to bring our families together! Our children were married a year ago. One set of parents flew in from California, our married children from Winston-Salem and the other parents from Georgia. Three families shared this enchanted place of America - beautiful views from a beautiful house! We could not have found a more perfect spot for our families to share our first vacation together. We hiked, went sightseeing, cooked and shared generations of family stories. We will always have wonderful memories of the Tree House and look forward to returning!
