About Eleanor

We built this secluded cabin to enjoy the fresh mountain air and breathtaking beauty of western North Carolina. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of more harried city environs provides an important life affirming respite for us. We hope you enjoy Spillcorn Falls as much as we do!

Eleanor purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Eleanor chose Marshall

Growing up in Eastern Tennessee means you are never far from the mountains. I had this property for over a decade before I finally took the step to build the cabin. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable spot to be nestled to enjoy the surroundings.

What makes this cabin unique

The front porch is our favorite place to hang out. A quiet nap on the daybed after a day of hiking or gathering for a drink before dinner, everyone gravitates there. No wonder-the magic sound of the falls makes you feel you are right in the middle of nature. And you are!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This is our favorite getaway that we have ever been to! The house is incredibly clean, cozy, and inviting. The rushing river outside is the perfect medicine for complete rejuvenation and replenishment. Eleanor is absolutely wonderful to work with, and we feel so loved each time that we stay here. We can't say enough positive things about this sacred retreat space, and we can't wait to return as soon as possible!

Quiet, secluded mountain cabin

If you are looking for a picturesque location off the beaten path, this place is wonderful. Perfect for 2, 3, or 4 people. The kitchen is well equipped. We loved the screened porch and watching the wildlife. Raymond the caretaker is extremely helpful.

Spillcorn Seclusion Magic!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is one of the most peaceful, satisfying vacation destinations I've ever had. Whether eating breakfast at the porch table listening to the morning bird songs, or rocking on the screen porch for happy hour, accompanied by the rushing water and falls gurgling, the ability to enjoy the outdoors from INSIDE is wonderful. We weren't able to use the firepit, placed right at creekside, but look forward to that on the next visit.

As for the cabin's interior, a very usable layout with simple but comfortably elegant decor was homey but uplifting...and was decorated with awesome artworks. Treat yourself, and choose SPILLCORN FALLS. And if you feel like winding down the road one day for lunch, Marshall, NC, the closest town, has a few tasty restaurants, a coffee shop, a bakery. and authentic retro "department store" and hardware store, AND a lovely crafts store featuring local artists. Get going!

A good place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I loved the wooden floors and ceiling at this lovely, clean and private cabin. I walked the long driveway every day between rain showers. The kitchen was stocked well with dishes and cooking utensils. Don't stay here if you like to be close to the action because this place is made for peace, quiet, and total relaxation. Bring a book or two so you can enjoy the screened in porch overlooking the creek. Like I mentioned before, it is a nice place to stay.
