About Eleanor

We built this secluded cabin to enjoy the fresh mountain air and breathtaking beauty of western North Carolina. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of more harried city environs provides an important life affirming respite for us. We hope you enjoy Spillcorn Falls as much as we do!

Eleanor purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Eleanor chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Growing up in Eastern Tennessee means you are never far from the mountains. I had this property for over a decade before I finally took the step to build the cabin. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable spot to be nestled to enjoy the surroundings.

What makes this cabin unique

The front porch is our favorite place to hang out. A quiet nap on the daybed after a day of hiking or gathering for a drink before dinner, everyone gravitates there. No wonder-the magic sound of the falls makes you feel you are right in the middle of nature. And you are!

Our family of 5 had a fantastic stay at Spillcorn Falls.

  • 5 of 5

The property was a great place to stay with our kids ages 2, 5, and 8. They played for hours in the creek, chased the butterflies, and ran in the meadow flying airplanes. We ate by the campfire, roasted marshmallows, and played games on the screened in porch. The house is very tastefully decorated. Everything is well thought out and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would plan on renting this property again.

Everything you could ask for

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say thank you enough for this beautiful cabin and the perfect peaceful location. Our family wanted a quiet, relaxing, and comfortable place to stay and Spillcorn Cabin far exceeded our expectations. The cabin itself is immaculately decorated and updated and very clean. The property is breathtaking especially in the early mornings when the sun first breaks through onto the creek. We had such a fun time with our 6 year old exploring the creek and the giant rocks on the property. The location is the wonderful because you definitely get the feeling of being "out in the mountains' but also have Mars Hill and Marshall within 20-25 minutes to get groceries or go exploring in town. Eleanor was wonderful and easy to work with and the cabin caretaker was super nice and made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be returning to this NC mountains treasure!! Thank you for having such a fantastic place.

Love the house and creek. Kids loved exploring. Very clean and had eveything we needed. Extremely relaxing. Is very secluded and 30-40 min away from restaurants, shops etc so if we come back will cook more at the house. Enjoyed our stay very much!! It was perfect.

Beautiful and peaceful cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful and peaceful cabin. The only problem that I had is that I wasn't able to spend as much time in it as I would have liked as my grown son and I were attending the Wild Goose Festival in Hot Springs. I am extremely picky about having the places that I stay be comfortable and clean and this cabin was exactly that and more. The pictures are true to life so there's no worries that it doesn't look as described. The roads to the cabin are very twisty and has hard turns so do be aware of that. It's a little disconcerning when you first turn in because there's an abandoned cabin at the front of the driveway but keep driving along the path and you'll see this charming place. The sound of the creek in front is amazing and the screened in porch allows you to sit out long after dark and just listen and be at peace.

Owner's Response: So glad you were able to take in the area. The abandoned cabin on the property was inhabited by a family who once operated a sawmill. We love it's stone fireplace and would like to preserve it. Right now it just sits.

Beautiful cabin and setting!!

  • 5 of 5

We vacationed at this cabin last year and loved it so much we returned this year. We absolutely love the cabin, it's beautiful, well furnished, tastefully decorated and clean. The setting is wonderful located in the woods by a stream. We toasted marshmallows by the fire pit, enjoyed the large screened in porch. The area also has lots to do. We went zip lining (your recommendation), white water rafting and also ventured to downtown Marshall to Zuma Coffee for blue grass music and watching the locals dance. What fun. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cabin. We have recommended this cabin to our friends.
