Group Outing

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 couples (12 adults), and this house gave us perfect accommodation, ambience, facilities and surrounding. The upper and lower decks, the master bedroom, the other bedrooms with queen beds, the mattresses, pillows, bed-sheets, bathrooms and kitchens were all of superior grade. The family rooms both on upper deck and lower decks were ideally designed to have group get-together/meetings. This house is designed for a group of any combination, like a group of all adults like us or group of adults, teenagers and kids, everyone would find a place and comfort of their liking. We enjoyed the ping-pong and Foosball as well as large table for our card games. We have stayed elsewhere on lakes/beaches but this house offered perhaps the best accommodation to our group.

In short, everything worked great for us. This house is carefully decorated, well stocked, clean and hygienic. The kitchen, bathrooms, towels, linen etc were in great condition. We all loved this place and look forward to going there again. Last but not the least, the Property Manage Sally was outstanding and prompt in her responses and service. It was a pleasure working with her.

Family get together

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago, with at least 18 people. We enjoyed it. House was nice, clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for all of us to sleep. We had kids from 4-27, and everyone always stayed busy, riding in the boat we brought, or the jet skis we rented, right across the water. The only thing I didn't like was we didn't have use of boat slip, as they had a boat parked in it, with a sign saying, please stay off boat.

Feel like we should've been able to use this area for our boat.

But, overall everyone had a good time, and ready for the next time when we can all do it again.

One more thing, we had left some things behind, like clothes and makeup case, and I called the manager of the house and she had them mailed to me within a couple of days, I really do appreciate her doing so.

Great trip for all of us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review and we were glad that we were able to locate your belongings that were left behind and ship back to you. To be clear on the boat slip issue: The owner leaves his boat on one lift while guests have access to the second lift. There is also additional areas to tie off and moor boats if more than one. This property is on a calm channel and no worry about wave action at all. Thanks again and come back and see us!

Extended family get away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this lake house. I have never stayed anywhere else that the house was as completely stocked; from bathroom to bedroom to kitchen, there was nothing missing. The elevator was an unusual, wonderful and necessary accessory for the elderly members of our family. I would highly recommend this lake house!

Great property

  • 5 of 5

I had reserved this place for a guys golf trip for 10. The house was more than big enough, including room for parking for several big trucks, to accommodate the group. It is rare to find a rental big enough for everybody to have their own bed, but this one came through with flying colors. It was very clean and stocked with most things needed for cooking, eating, etc. Would definitely stay again.

Memorial Day Weekend - Lots of Issues with the House

  • 2 of 5

We had 17 people staying here: 8 adults and 9 kids ranging in ages 18 months through 16 years. There are two living areas, but the top level is clearly meant as the "main" space. The living area has seating for 6, one love seat and a few chairs, which made for a lot of musical chairs. The kitchen counter was great, double levels, with a space for eating, or as we did, for a buffet. The fireplace in the living area is non-working (with a wooden board in front of it and a sign saying as much) and goes through to the master bedroom (we'll get to that room in a bit), making it extremely noisy. The dining area is spacious, and worked just fine for us.

The kitchen, like most rental properties, is poorly stocked. 2 wine glasses, a broken bottle opener, bad knives, etc. The freezer has only one usable shelf. One or two of the knobs on the stove were broken, which made it sort of annoying if you want to, you know, turn it on. We made it work by shuffling the knobs around when we needed to use a different burner. Plenty of plates and flatware.

Ok, the bedrooms. Here's the sticking point for all of us. The beds are uncomfortable. Some have no windows. There are no blankets on the beds, only a top sheet and a bedspread. In the master, the underside of the bedspread was absolutely disgusting. Stained is one thing, but there were actual *pieces of something* on it. The stains are large and brown on the white underside. I went to go find another blanket in the linen closet, but none looked clean. The towels in the bathroom are frayed and threadbare. But really, the bedspread thing is nasty.

Next up is the bunkbed room: one of them was cracked on the bottom, and we didn't feel comfortable putting any of the kids in it. It had obviously been welded in the past, so they knew this was an issue. This made us 2 beds down, which meant that we had some sad kids that couldn't bunk in with the others. I brought this up the morning after we got there and didn't hear back from the property manager until she mentioned it in the deposit return letter. She said that her handyman taped it up, said it was fine, and hoped it didn't affect the stay.

We stay at VRBO's all the time, multiple times per year, and I don't think I've ever written a bad review. This place needs a whole bunch of help.

Owner's Response: When it rains it pours! Literally, record breaking rains and floods greeted our Memorial weekend guests, 2015. Not a perfect scenario for a long awaited family vacation but totally out of our control. Could this have played a part in the less than generous tone of this review? A dirty or stained bedspread is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Rest assured this will not happen again. There was and is a closet full of clean (maybe not brand new) extra comforters, linens, towels etc. all meant for guest use if needed. Had we been given a call or email concerning this issue or any issue for that matter, we would have been more than happy to come by and help resolve and while we were there, take a look at the bunkbed in question, as our guests comfort and safety is and will remain to be our top priority. Unfortunately, these guests decided to wait until after the fact to air their complaints without giving us a chance to rectify. We are a local company and pride ourselves on being available to take care of any issue that may arise during any and all guest stays. We do however want to thank them for pointing out that there are two living areas at this property, yes basically two homes in one. This is why this house is able to sleep 19 in beds, not couches or air mattresses mind you. The listing is very clear, along with pictures and description as to how this is accomplished, no smoke and mirrors. We don't see any benefit in overselling or misrepresenting the product. Very clearly, this is a service orientated business and we are in it for the long haul. Hard to understand that the kitchen, freezer etc.were not equipped to their liking when in fact there are two fully self contained kitchens at this property. Granted items might get moved around from time to time but with minimal effort one can find all one needs and then some. This waterfront property has a proven track record and a very proactive owner who tries very hard to maintain and furnish in such a manner to ensure a enjoyable stay to be had by all. We prefer to take the high road when given a choice and strongly believe that the client is always right when it comes down to resolving any type of problem. There comes a time however, when one must make sure all the facts are presented in whole and not taken out of context to ensure that you, the VRBO community can understand and judge for yourselves the validity of such a scathing review. A review in our opinion, that was totally unjustified.
