Nice Cabin Good Owners Far Away
Well kept. Owners respond quickly and it was a great cabin. The only problem is it says its minutes away from Pigeon Forge etc. We couldn't make it there in less than 30 minutes.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The cabin was spacious for the 5 of us and my daughters 2 four legged children. The cleaning of the cabin is of concern. There were bugs in the chandelier cups and the intake for the upstairs ac was filthy. Our next vacation will include a baby so we will be extra careful. Lastly the televisions did not have the same channel selections.
Our group of 8 (3 kids, 5 adults) thoroughly enjoyed the house! Plenty of space, the hot tub and deck were great and everyone enjoyed the house! We took advantage of the puzzles and games available for use during downtime. The grill is very large and great for feeding a large group! We only used the pool once since we were so busy otherwise, but it was very nice, the workers there were super friendly and the food was very good!
A few minor maintenance issues were quickly dealt with and the owners were very attentive in answering our questions and concerns both before and during our stay. The only things I would note for people to be aware of - sound carries VERY easily due to the design of the house; the TVs are all older style so anyone looking to hook up a gaming system or Firestick, etc will likely not be able to do so; and the driveway is pretty steep! One of our family has a smaller car and chose to park at the top of the driveway (where there is plenty of space and no traffic to worry about). The windy, steep roads (with no guardrails) leading up to the house are a little scary at first if you aren't used to them, but by the end of the week you get used to it!
Plenty of activities in the area to keep busy - we loved the national park, river tubing, local restaurants, alpine coaster, caverns, petting zoo - everything we did was great!!
Overall, a wonderful experience!!
While the space in this house was good for our group (5 adults, 4 kids 4-10) the place was a maintenance nightmare. It is in serious need of many repairs. In addition to the items mentioned in previous reviews, the windows are falling apart, faucets in the kitchen need attention as does the sliding door to the deck from the great room. Ceiling fan in the master bedroom does not work and the cleaners, while not doing a terrible job, obviously don't do edges and corners of the floors or bugs in the light fixtures. Speaking of bugs, we were bitten severely over multiple days by what we believe were bed bugs. This occurred primarily in the main floor master bedroom. We washed the bedding in hot water but still they continued to bite. We've been home for over 2 weeks now and the welts are still visible. When we arrived, the main floor air conditioning unit didn't work. At least this was fixed promptly after a call to the property management company. The coffee pot also didn't work, but was replaced quickly as well. All in all, I would be reluctant to recommend this property to anyone.
Please know that there are and have never been bedbugs in our wonderful cabin. We allow renters to bring there dogs along, so possibly fleas were present during this renters stay. We are in the Smokey's, so red bugs and mosquitos are prevalent in the summer as well. Although our cleaning company generally dose an excellent job, we have addressed these issues with them and they have confirmed no bed bugs are present. Our kids grew up in this cabin and we want you to experience the delight that we have experienced over the years. We are very attentive to our renters and make ourselves available, should something come up.
The day of arrival, check in was 4pm and it was 5:15pm when we arrived. The cleaning people were still there and we were told to get out of the house and wait outside in the heat while they finished. This is how our dreadful vacation started. From dust an inch thick on the furniture, to holes in the walls, to bugs crawling in the bathroom, to mold and mildew on the shower floor in the master, to sliding glass doors that don't lock, to kitchen faucet dripping, to dishwasher not working, to long white dog hair all over the rug in the living room and last but not least, some kind of biting bugs. Today is Monday and I came home last Thursday and my family and I still have whelps on us. Never again will I rent anything from these people. They really don't care.
Our cabin is very well maintained. We had the property professionally checked and no biting insects were found. This renter did have dogs, so it is very possible they experienced flea bites.
Great family memories
Our family had a great family vacation in this home. The home was beautiful and peaceful surroundings. We could drive to many area attractions like hiking, white water rafting, and zip lining. The owners were quick to respond when the AC quit working.
This beautiful mountain home is situated in the mountains surrounding scenic Wears Valley between Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Townsend. It is far enough away from the 'touristy' areas for those who want to avoid them, but close enough to be convenient for those who love the tourist attractions this area is famous for! It is a great area for hiking, rafting, and tubing and is just a few miles from a back entrance to the Smokey Mountains National Park. Situated on 5 mountainous acres, you will have no nearby neighbors and will be able to experience true privacy.
