About the property

Direct access to the Gulf without all the main River boat traffic!

The 2017 Scallop Season is right around the corner starting July 1st through September 25th. Fresh Interior Painting and a newly redesigned back yard. Come stay in this 2007 split plan home on stilts right on mason creek in olde homosassa hideaway waterfront. The 2nd level is approximately 1600 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The 2nd level is only accessible by stairs in the front and in the back of the property. There is 70' of private dock in the backyard. Minutes to the gulf of Mexico and the main homosassa river by boat. Great place to go kayaking, canoeing, boating, bicycling or just sitting on deck watching the boats go by or an awesome sunset over the marsh. You might even see a river otter or a dolphin right out the back door. Minutes to one of the best wild life state parks in Florida. There is a bird observatory within walking distance from this location. In the winter, you can swim with the manatees in the springs, and snorkel for scallops in the summer. Two blocks from free public boat ramp. Plenty of boat trailer parking at the house. This home has two sets of sliding glass doors onto the back deck. Lots of windows and natural light inside. Covered parking available.

It's like living in a tree house on the water! Best of both worlds!

Please send inquiry for availability and rates. Office on premises.

Thank you.

About Tammy

I am originally from the St. Petersburg/Gulfport area. I have been coming to Homosassa for years. My parents build a house here many years ago. I bought this lot in 2004, finally building this home in 2007 just two blocks from my parents. I have been here full time since 2007 and just love it! My mother has since past away, but she lives on everyday in that she brought me to this place and made it all happen.

Tammy purchased this house in 2007

Why Tammy chose Homosassa

It's like entering another world when you pull into the driveway after driving in 5 miles of scenic road with no traffic lights. You don't hear any sirens or screeching tires. Sometimes when the wind is blowing just right, you can hear the drowning sound of the diesel engine from the shrimp boats coming back into the river from working all night catching your next lunch at the Freezer! On a clear night and because there are no city or street lights, you can see a bazillion stars at night.

What makes this house unique

I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Thank you for reading!

Great house but tricky canal

  • 3 of 5

Great house and location to the bay for scalloping! House was clean and had all the amenities you would need. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because the canal out to the bay is very tricky! Lots of rocks and shallow areas that will mess your boat up if your not careful. We got stuck twice and had to push the boat. If it wasn't for that we would go back every scallop season.

Owner's Response: Hello - thanks so much for your review. It is appreciated. Yes, the channel out to the Gulf can be tricky and I'm so sorry you got stuck. We take safe boating very seriously and have shown the channel to the Gulf as well as to the main river to many guests without any issues. We recommend using GPS way points and tracking to avoid getting off course. Although you arrived 2-3 hours early on Friday, we were able to show you the way out with our boat. We also showed you again on Saturday morning. We realize your stay with us was short and your experience wasn't perfect, but would like to ask that you reconsider coming back. We would be happy to show you the channel again and would strive to make your next boating experience better. We believe that once you are comfortable with the waterway, you will love it as much as we do. Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My daughters and I really enjoyed our stay in Homosassa. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was quiet. We had a great time and would be willing to recommend this place to anyone who was looking for a vacation getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed the month of March at this lovely, clean home. We boated, fished and kayaked. Tammy and her husband were very gracious, helpful with info, and Tammy responded to questions and requests promptly. We hope to return again. Would recommend this home to our friends and family. Thank you Tammy for the wonderful experience of "Old Florida"!

Comfortable home in a beautiful part of Florida

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for six weeks and enjoyed our stay. Clean, comfortable home in a pleasant

neighborhood where you can walk or bike with very little traffic. Boat launch is within a

half mile, several local eateries are within two miles and the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park (a must to see the manatees) is approx. four miles from the house. The owner was very responsive to our questions, thank you, Tammy. We hope to return to this lovely home.
