Elk Lake is one of the premier lakes in the Midwest. Torch gets all of the press, but ask the locals and most say they prefer Elk Lake for its quietness and charm. There are 12 sq. miles of beautiful aqua blue water to explore on Elk Lake. If that is not enough, you can head up the chain of lakes to Skegemog, Torch, Clam, or Bellaire Lake.
This home is located on the southern shore of the lake. The entire lake bottom is sandy and the water gradually drops off on the southern end. You can walk out about 100 yards before the water is over your head. One of the better panfishing spots on the lake is only about 150 yds from the dock.
The lakeside deck is covered and runs along most of the length of the house. A gas grill is adjacent to the deck. There is a picnic table and chairs for everyone to escape from the sun if need be. A large fire pit is lakeside to relax at during the evening and take in all of the stars.
The home was renovated in 2006 and now has 6 well appointed bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a dining room, and two living areas.
The lower level features a master suite that looks out onto the lake and a kitchen with granite countertops and a commercial Jenn Air Range. The dining room off the kitchen seats 8. Additional seating for meals is available at the breakfast booth in the kitchen, upstairs at the game table, and outside at the picnic table. Also on the lower level is a guest bedroom with an attached full bath, a living area, and french doors leading out onto the large covered porch lakeside.
The second story has 4 bedrooms (one is a bunk room that sleeps 8), 1.5 baths, a living area, and a game table overlooking the lake.
The lakeside yard is grassy, with plenty of room for bocce, croquet, and kids to play. The road side of the house has a second large covered porch. There is a play-set complete with swings and a slide in this part of the yard.
There is a boat ramp less then a mile away that you have access to.
The home is heated and cooled with forced air.

About Nick Koenigsknecht
This home is owned by myself, my brother and our wives. It was purchased jointly as a vacation home for our families in 2012 and has been thoroughly enjoyed over the last couple years.

Why Nick Koenigsknecht chose Williamsburg
We reside in the mid-Michigan area and wanted a home under a 3 hour drive, on a beautiful lake, and close to abundant activities. After an exhausting search of lakes and homes we unanimously decided Elk Lake was the place for us, specifically the southern end of Elk.

50th anniversary down memory lane.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our kids, their spouses, and grandkids (13 in all) on the lake my folks lived on. This home was perfect for our teenage granddaughters using the bunkroom. Our niece, her husband and her niece joined us for three days. The kitchen was great for our foodie son and daughter to make mozzarella cheese and a fabulous cherry crisp from fresh picked cherries. There were enough activities to keep everyone busy. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed fireworks all over the lake on the fourth. We had intended to go to Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, but only made it to the dunes. Too many wonderful things to do at the lake! We would come again!
REVIEW OF STAY AT ELK LAKE HOME
This home was absolutely beautiful. The interior was great and the six bedrooms were perfect for my family - which included my nine grandchildren and eight adults. The beach was incredible, beautiful sand and shallow for at least 100 feet out. Several of my grandchildren literally lived in the water during the week we were there. We rented a pontoon boat from a local marina and tubed, fished, and had a nice time with it. The kitchen was big and had all the necessities that my family needed. The location was close to Traverse City and there were several places to shop in the area. We would definitely consider going back.
We had such a wonderful time here! The home was absolutely beautiful and accommodated our group of 12 perfectly! We would definitely come back here again.
We were looking for the perfect place to accommodate 3 families for a family reunion/trip down memory lane. We used to go to Elk Lake every summer as kids, and I had not been there for 30 years. We found the perfect place on 'Miami Beach' at Elk Lake. The kids (ages 7 - 17) and adults all enjoyed their stay tremendously. The 'small' girls loved hanging in their 'bunk room'. The teenage boys were happy to have their own room. I was 'concerned' there was not a dining room (did not see one in the photos), but there is. The 'chef' in the group loved the kitchen and prepared many fantastic meals for the gang. Having access to kayaks was a bonus. We had planned to do some 'sightseeing' trips to Mackinaw and Sleeping Bear; however, we were enjoying just playing around the property, that we never made it there. We took 2 boat trips to Torch Lake (60 minutes by boat), those were very enjoyable. Jonathan was very accommodating about answering all my silly questions. I have rented a few properties on VRBO, and this was definitely my favorite. Thank you very much!!
Elk Lake Gem
Awesome weekend up north with our extended family in this great rental on Elk Lake. The house was beautiful, slept 17 comfortably, very clean, and well stocked. Close to many activities in Elk Rapids (10 min) and Traverse (15 min). Groceries nearby, rented a pontoon from Elk Lake Marina, and paddle boards from Adventure Rental. Mission peninsula and wineries were great. The sunsets and sunrises were stunning. Beautiful sandy bottom beach, boat launch nearby, and quiet/calm waters on the south side of the lake. In a word…TERRIFIC. We will definitely be renting this place again.
This beautiful lake home is 15 minutes from both Traverse City and Elk Rapids. World class wineries, golf, gambling and restaurants are all only a short drive away. If you are ambitious you can even ride a bike on the TART (Traverse area recreational trail) into town. This area is a mecca for outdoor activities from biking, to hiking, to cross country skiing, to horseback riding - it is all within minutes. And of course the Traverse City Cherry Festival and Elk Rapids Harbour Days are always wonderful events to enjoy with the family during the summer.
