Why Nick Koenigsknecht chose Williamsburg
We reside in the mid-Michigan area and wanted a home under a 3 hour drive, on a beautiful lake, and close to abundant activities. After an exhausting search of lakes and homes we unanimously decided Elk Lake was the place for us, specifically the southern end of Elk.
What makes this House unique
Ideal Location: Under 3 hours from Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Flint. Only 15 minutes to Traverse, Kalkaska and Elk Rapids. Room For All: This home can comfortably accommodate 17 people in beds - the most of any home on VRBO on Elk Lake. With two separate living rooms it is perfect for large families - send the kids upstairs while the adults relax downstairs.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Everything we wanted it to be...
My family and friends joined me for my 60th Birthday week. We had 12 in our multigenerational party from Virginia. For me it was a sentimental return to Northern Michigan, for younger family and friends an introduction to the area. The home owners were excellent to work with and even provided us beach towels as we were traveling from out of state. The home itself was delightful, accommodating both children and adults across families. We rented a boat and docked it easily. We availed ourselves of the amenities to include kayaks, floats, life jackets, bicycles, games etc. We enjoyed several bonfires and s'mores....we took two day trips but otherwise stayed on Elk Lake with one afternoon on Torch Lake. The evenings were stunning and we were outside for most of them playing, talking etc. Loved the back porch. The lake was perfect with a sandy bottom and depths that were ideal for the kids. The location gave us easy access to Traverse City/Mission Peninsula and Glen Arbor/Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (our two day trips). Some of the adults even hit the casino a couple of times which was right down the road. Thank you so much for making your home available to us. This will be a memory we will have for many years to come. If available, I would not hesitate to go back to this lovely home.
Awesome location, beautiful home
The perfect location for a boating vacation in Northern Michigan
50th anniversary down memory lane.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our kids, their spouses, and grandkids (13 in all) on the lake my folks lived on. This home was perfect for our teenage granddaughters using the bunkroom. Our niece, her husband and her niece joined us for three days. The kitchen was great for our foodie son and daughter to make mozzarella cheese and a fabulous cherry crisp from fresh picked cherries. There were enough activities to keep everyone busy. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed fireworks all over the lake on the fourth. We had intended to go to Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, but only made it to the dunes. Too many wonderful things to do at the lake! We would come again!
REVIEW OF STAY AT ELK LAKE HOME
This home was absolutely beautiful. The interior was great and the six bedrooms were perfect for my family - which included my nine grandchildren and eight adults. The beach was incredible, beautiful sand and shallow for at least 100 feet out. Several of my grandchildren literally lived in the water during the week we were there. We rented a pontoon boat from a local marina and tubed, fished, and had a nice time with it. The kitchen was big and had all the necessities that my family needed. The location was close to Traverse City and there were several places to shop in the area. We would definitely consider going back.
We had such a wonderful time here! The home was absolutely beautiful and accommodated our group of 12 perfectly! We would definitely come back here again.
We were looking for the perfect place to accommodate 3 families for a family reunion/trip down memory lane. We used to go to Elk Lake every summer as kids, and I had not been there for 30 years. We found the perfect place on 'Miami Beach' at Elk Lake. The kids (ages 7 - 17) and adults all enjoyed their stay tremendously. The 'small' girls loved hanging in their 'bunk room'. The teenage boys were happy to have their own room. I was 'concerned' there was not a dining room (did not see one in the photos), but there is. The 'chef' in the group loved the kitchen and prepared many fantastic meals for the gang. Having access to kayaks was a bonus. We had planned to do some 'sightseeing' trips to Mackinaw and Sleeping Bear; however, we were enjoying just playing around the property, that we never made it there. We took 2 boat trips to Torch Lake (60 minutes by boat), those were very enjoyable. Jonathan was very accommodating about answering all my silly questions. I have rented a few properties on VRBO, and this was definitely my favorite. Thank you very much!!
This beautiful lake home is 15 minutes from both Traverse City and Elk Rapids. World class wineries, golf, gambling and restaurants are all only a short drive away. If you are ambitious you can even ride a bike on the TART (Traverse area recreational trail) into town. This area is a mecca for outdoor activities from biking, to hiking, to cross country skiing, to horseback riding - it is all within minutes. And of course the Traverse City Cherry Festival and Elk Rapids Harbour Days are always wonderful events to enjoy with the family during the summer.
