About the property

Spring and Summer are here!! Nothing Beats a Weekend on the Water!

Come visit the puuurtiest spot in the ♥ of Texas! Visit us on Lake LBJ!

We call our place Pelican Point on Lake LBJ, because pelicans and sea gulls from the coast and other wintering birds visit here in the winter. But there's lots of bird watching year round.

Lake LBJ, one of the Highland Lakes of the Texas Colorado River, is the largest constant-level lake in the US.

Kingsland is at the confluence of the Llano and the Colorado Rivers. Pelican Point is on the Colorado arm― the prettiest part of the lake.

Kingsland is the Heart of the Hill Country:

60 miles west of Austin; 10 miles from Longhorn Caverns, Lake Buchanan, Lake Marble Falls, and Inks Lake; 25 miles from Johnson City; 38 miles from Enchanted Rock; 53 miles from historic Fredericksburg. Close to a dozen surrounding vineyards.

This architect-remodeled apartment is clean, well-lighted and up-scale― only 20 feet from the water, shaded by five beautiful oaks.

Pelican Point is that special place on the water where family memories are made and held dearly.

2 bedrooms and 2 baths, a chef's kitchen/bar, large open living/dining area with lots of windows, and waterfront porch with a gas grill and ceiling fans. High-speed (for Kingsland!) 24mbps WiFi, 55" TV.

Located on a peninsula on a very nice stretch of water in a very nice neighborhood, it's convenient to Kingsland for groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc. It's on a Big Bend of the Colorado River, offering sweeping water views.

The Master Bedroom has a queen bed and private bath (sleeps 2). Second Bedroom and Bath has a queen bed and a pair of extra-long bunk beds suitable for adults. This room can sleep 4.

Please note that the quoted rates are based on two-person occupancy. Pelican Point is such a great place for a romantic get-away for couples that we want it to be affordable for those special anniversaries and birthdays where three's a crowd. The surcharges for additional guests are modest. This way you're only being charged for the number in your party― not paying unnecessarily for maximum occupancy every time. It's fairer, more flexible, and still a great value we're told.

A kayak is available. There's also an 8' wide boat slip with lift and another slip with lift for 2 jet skis if you want to bring them or rent them locally.

We love dogs. We're not set up for them at this time, but we soon will be, so please check with us.

Here's a good question! So, you're happily vacationing on the first floor. Who's on the 2nd floor, how noisy are they, and what's the access between floors?

The house is one apartment downstairs and one upstairs, and there's no access and no noise between floors. The floor between is solid concrete (road bridge girders!). The owner and/or a few friends may be upstairs (mostly only on weekends), but you're hardly aware of it because you're too busy trading stories about how awesome the lake is.

About Steve Kubenka

I'm a practicing architect (mainly residential) in Austin since 1981.

Why Steve Kubenka chose Kingsland

We've been coming to Lake LBJ since the mid-1980s when my father-in-law started renting summer homes here and then bought one in 1989.

We love this beautiful constant-level lake so much I just had to have a home here, too!

What makes this apartment unique

In the early days of our visits to Lake LBJ, we stayed in homes near Horseshoe Bay on the southern end of the lake. That part of the lake is great for sailing but is usually too choppy for skiing. So we'd always boat up several miles to Kingsland and ski the calmer Colorado River arm of the lake. The Colorado arm is the prettiest most verdant part of the lake. Why spend hours and gallons of gas getting up there every time you wanted to ski? Why not just live there, right?

Beautiful spot on the lake. We didn't want to leave.

Our stay at Pelican Point was wonderful.

The house was perfect for our family. Smart plan: beds and bathrooms just large enough to serve their functions while most of the floor plan was devoted to common areas. Nice kitchen,TV/movies watching area, two large tables for meals, games, or work, allowed the four of us to be together or have room to spread out.

Relaxing hours were spent at the table outside enjoying the view of the lake with the hills in the background. The owner Steve went above and beyond to be sure we had what we needed so we could have a great visit. He even moved his boat so our boat could fit in the larger boat slip.

We celebrated a 7 year old boy's birthday here and made wonderful memories. He caught his first fish off Steve's dock with wriggling worms and Steve's fishing rod. We even found birthday candles in a kitchen drawer. It's as though the owner anticipated a guest's need and provided in advance.

We can't wait to come back. Thank you Steve for sharing your lake house with us.

What a wonderfully well appointed home.

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed here with our dog for the weekend even though we did not take full advantage of all of the amenities that the house offers. My architect sister-in-law loved the modern design and beautiful furniture. The beds and linens are top quality. The AC rocks! This was the most well appointed kitchen in the way of utensils and cookware I have run across in a VRBO (for two guys who are chefs). Steve was extremely quick to respond to anything we needed. Great experience. Thanks Steve.

Great place to stay with family and pets.

  • 4 of 5

This was a great spring break getaway. House is perfectly located near Fredericksburg, Inks Lake, Enchanted Rock and many other day trips. We enjoyed having access to the lake to boat and fish. The yard was also nice for our dog. The interior of the house was clean and nicely updated. Neighborhood is nice too.

Beautiful stay on LBJ

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Pelican Point and we hope to return next summer. It is located at a great spot on the lake. We (and our dogs) loved the large grass yard and swimming area. The house has everything we felt like we needed for a relaxing weekend away. Steve is a wonderful owner who was so kind to us as we kept tabs on our home in Houston during hurricane Harvey.

Great get away

  • 5 of 5

This was everything we needed and wanted in a lake home get away. Peaceful, great location, comfortable and modern living space. It was well stocked with games, books, magazines, kitchen and bathroom necessities. Owner communicated well with arrival and departure information.

Sitting on the patio in the morning, drinking coffee, listening to the waves is a wonderful way to re-group. We also rented a pontoon from Splash boat rentals right around the corner that was a great price, and great customer service. And the neighborhood dogs that greet you are sweet as can be, not scary at all, and our pup made friends with them right away. Would definitely stay here again!
