Why Kay Knight - Manager, Chastain Knight Properties, LLC chose Cullowhee
We love the cool summertime temps of the highland plateau. The vegetation is beautiful…almost rain forest like. The high mountain views and hundreds of waterfalls are amazing both summer and winter. Our family resides in the Atlanta area and enjoy mountain getaways whenever we can find time. We love both summer and winter at Lake Glenville. In the summer our favorite thing is boating, hiking, swimming in the lake and mountain streams, golf, and shopping. During the winter we play in the snow, sled, & ski. Our lake house is the most relaxing place we know and is truly a piece of heaven for us.
What makes this House unique
We just can't say enough about the cooler summer temperatures. Atlanta summer temperatures can be oppressive. There is nothing better than relaxing on the deck in a spring chair, listening to the stream trickle, in the perfect temperatures of our mountain lake house.

We truly enjoyed our two week vacation on Lake Glenville. The home was in such a great location and had all the right amenities for a perfect stay. Kay Knight was very responsive to any questions and provided all the help we needed. Would definitely book again.
GREAT house and lake location!!!
So much to do - Kids were able kayak and paddle board around the corner to the waterfall. Nice deck. A fire pit lakeside... Two king beds (good matresses) which was key for us going with another family. Easy to get to Cashiers and Ingles if you need it! All of the cook wear we needed. Had a very enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Will definitely try to rent again.
This home was clean with a fully equipped kitchen, and just a short kayak trip around the corner to Norton Falls! Another positive is that it's located on a cove, so there is not much boat traffic. We saw homes on busier areas where it looked impossible to sit on the dock without getting pummeled by wake.
Kay was incredibly helpful and responsive. I will be a repeat customer.
Great house and area.
Kids kayaked and swam to waterfalll. Beds and furniture were very comfortable and view was outstanding. WiFi is in and out but that’s to be expected in the mountains. AT&T phones worked rarely but Verizon always did. Bunk room and den downstairs were great to have separation from kids. We couldn’t have had a better time.
A fun family home!
We spent Thanksgiving week in this home; enjoyed waking up to the beautiful view of the lake each morning. What a treat to have firewood stacked on the hearth when we arrived and bottles of water in the fridge! We especially liked having the teen space on the lower level so they could play their video games, play pool, have their own bathroom and bunk room, and easy access to the fire pit and lake. Master suite was great for husband who didn't feel well as he could hear all that was happening on the main level and contribute as he was able. Kitchen was well stocked for making a Thanksgiving dinner. We loved the Farmers' Market in Cashiers, hiking near Whitewater Falls, and visiting all the sites in the area. The kids want to come back in the summer to take advantage of the lake.
great location / great house for families
peaceful, private and access to the lake and waterfall around the corner - kids spent the entire week on the water in the provided kayaks, or in the lower level bunk rooms / game room - great for mom and dad :) Rented a boat from Signal Ridge for a couple of days which gave us access to the entire lake and the other waterfalls. Steps down to the lake are cumbersome for older guests, but that is true of just about every lakefront home on Glenville Lake. Cashiers and Highlands have lots to offer for those who are not into the water as much. Kay was terrific to work with and checked in throughout the week to ensure we were doing well.
Lake Glenville is located in the Smokey Mountains at the southern end of the Appalachian Chain. It is the highest elevation lake on the east side of the Mississippi River at 3800'. It is fed by 5 mountain streams that feature gorgeous waterfalls at their point of entry into the lake. Because of the elevation, the summertime temperatures are very pleasant and rarely reach above 84 degrees. The evening temperatures dip as low as the upper 50's and are great for enjoying a small fire or wearing a soft, cuddly sweatshirt.
Our Home is located a about 1/4 mile off of North Norton Road, 5 miles from Cashiers, NC. Norton Road intersects Hwy 107 at the Blue Ridge School just outside Cashiers, or Hwy 64 just north of Whiteside Mtn., north of Highlands, NC. Experience the magic of Western North Carolina's high country and the traditional Southern Appalachian resort towns of Highlands and Cashiers in a spectacular Smoky Mountain setting. Our home is nestled among hemlock trees on a clear mountain lake and is the perfect Smoky Mountain cabin for your next vacation. Nearby Cashiers, NC (5miles) is a wonderful town with great shopping and restaurants. Just a little further is Highlands, NC,(10 miles) also with great shopping and restaurants. Just down the mountain about 30 minutes away are Franklin, NC, and Sylva, NC, also great cities to visit. We often take day trips to Ashville, NC, where the Biltmore Estate is located or to Smokey Mountain National Park where we ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit Cade's Cove & the Cherokee Indian Village. There are countless other activities and sights in the area. You won't ever be board unless you want to be...
