About the property

Lakefront,3BR, 3BA, Private Dock, Stone Fireplace, Covrd Deck, Lakesde Firepit

UNLIKE MOST LAKE GLENVILLE PROPERTIES, OUR HOME IS TRULY LAKEFRONT WITH ONLY 25 FEET FROM THE HOUSE TO THE DOCK. Our home has a private dock, 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 family rooms, a bonus bunk room, 2 covered decks, cathedral ceilings, wood burning stone fireplace with gas starter, Wifi, flat screen tv, a pool table, and parking for 3 to 4. Our home is located on Lake Glenville, near both Cashiers, NC(5 mi) and Highlands, NC(10 mi). Because of the high elevation, Lake Glenville has cooler summer temperatures that usually hover around 80 degrees.

Why Kay Knight - Manager, Chastain Knight Properties, LLC chose Smoky Mountains

We love the cool summertime temps of the highland plateau. The vegetation is beautiful…almost rain forest like. The high mountain views and hundreds of waterfalls are amazing both summer and winter. Our family resides in the Atlanta area and enjoy mountain getaways whenever we can find time. We love both summer and winter at Lake Glenville. In the summer our favorite thing is boating, hiking, swimming in the lake and mountain streams, golf, and shopping. During the winter we play in the snow, sled, & ski. Our lake house is the most relaxing place we know and is truly a piece of heaven for us.

What makes this house unique

We just can't say enough about the cooler summer temperatures. Atlanta summer temperatures can be oppressive. There is nothing better than relaxing on the deck in a spring chair, listening to the stream trickle, in the perfect temperatures of our mountain lake house.

FISHING Western North Carolina is known as 'The Fly Fishing Trail' with the best trout fishing in the Eastern U.S. Jackson County, home of Lake Glenville, has a mapped trail of several locations for excellent fly fishing. Or if you are a novice who just wants to try you hand, take a walk down our lane to Norton Creek and cast away. Norton Creek is stocked and maintained by Trillium, just north of our property. Lake Glenville is also excellent for fishing with 26 miles of shoreline and natural fish habitat. You can find additional information at Signal Ridge Marina, online, or at Brookings store in Cashiers. GOLF The four closest courses anyone can play without membership are Trillium Club, Sapphire National Club, High Hampton Resort, and Olde Edwards Resort. Our other favorite is Sequoia National (a Robert Trent Jones II course) at Cherokee, NC, about 45 mins away. Our cool temps make golf an excellent choice and one of our favorite pass times!

Perfect home with a perfect view for this family of 5!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 weeks with our 3 kids in this beautiful mountain oasis. We enjoyed the spacious and cozy home with an amazing view of the lake. Our kids loved the downstairs 'kids' floor' with triple bunk beds, a pool table, and dart board. They also loved fishing off the dock and kayaking straight from our property. With a waterfall right around the corner from our dock and Cashiers a short car ride, the location on the lake was very convenient. We also had plenty of room to have another family of 4 visit with us for the weekend. Overall, we give this an A+.

Great Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in June with our family of 5. The house is great and we loved being on the lake. We all enjoyed kayaking and the fire pit. The house was clean, comfortable beds, and well equipped kitchen. The back porch is a beautiful place to relax and we ate most our meals out there too.

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

This home was amazing. Our family truly enjoyed our visit. Kay was very helpful and kind and responsive with questions we had and information about the area. Our children loved the kayaks and we visited the beautiful waterfall 5 minutes away by kayak. We even had a picnic one day on the rocks by the falls. They also enjoyed swimming at the dock and a couple of nights we had a bon fire and smores at the fire pit by the lake. The home and area were very peaceful and the perfect spot for our family reunion.

Lovely stay on Lake Glenville!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the lake in this very spacious and well-equipped home. The location was great -- on the lake, but close to Cashiers. I stayed in the home with my husband, 3 kids (ages 9, 11 and 13) and my mother-in-law for a week in August 2016. The kids loved playing in the lake, and we all had a great time exploring in the kayaks that come with the house. There is a waterfall in the next cove over -- a quick 10 minute kayak trip! We also rented a pontoon boat from Signal Ridge Marina one afternoon and took the kids tubing. The house was actually larger than we expected -- there's a master bed in the loft upstairs, with a master bathroom. Two bedrooms with queens on the main level, and a bunk room in the basement. The steps down to the lake are quite steep -- the kids bounded up and down them many times, but they were a challenge for my 80 year old mother in law. We had a great week, and hope to go back again one day!

Owner's Response: Dear Amy, We are happy you "loved" our lake home! We love it there too. We never run out of new things to see and do. I hope your family took advantage of the links on our VRBO site for instructions. We also think it's the perfect spot for families. It was our pleasure having you and we hope you will come again. Best Regards, The Knight Family

Practically perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

Like Mary Poppins, this house is practically perfect. This is one of those houses that you can't wait to rave about but you hesitate because you don't want to let the secret out and risk not getting your reservation next year. But since we do like to mix up the vacations each year, I can't guarantee we'll come back in 2016, although my personal preference would be to spend every single vacation in this house.

It's close enough to town to make daily grocery runs easy. It's distant enough to make it peaceful. The owners have thought of virtually anything you would need or want. We cooked at home all but one night and had every tool necessary. The gas grill works great, there is plenty of comfortable seating indoors and out, the stereo and TV are easy to manipulate, and the porch sublime. The girls loved the privacy of the basement; it's a kid's dream. Beds are perfect, bathrooms plenty big, linens and towels clean and good quality.

Finally, the lake. It was everything a person could ask for. I had feared the water would be a bit too brisk for extended enjoyment but it was absolutely perfect. Warm but still very refreshing. Could have stayed in it all day. The kayaks were well used and very much appreciated. The entire lakeside arrangement was so beautiful and well-thought-out. I just wish I had brought my Sunfish but will certainly do so on the next visit.

The owner was terrific with communication and the Homeaway app that puts all the house information on your phone was very helpful. In short, if you don't rent this house, you're missing the best vacation and vacation value in the NC mountains. On the other hand, please consult with me so you don't take my week.

Lake Glenville is located in the Smokey Mountains at the southern end of the Appalachian Chain. It is the highest elevation lake on the east side of the Mississippi River at 3800'. It is fed by 5 mountain streams that feature gorgeous waterfalls at their point of entry into the lake. Because of the elevation, the summertime temperatures are very pleasant and rarely reach above 84 degrees. The evening temperatures dip as low as the upper 50's and are great for enjoying a small fire or wearing a soft, cuddly sweatshirt.

Our Home is located a about 1/4 mile off of North Norton Road, 5 miles from Cashiers, NC. Norton Road intersects Hwy 107 at the Blue Ridge School just outside Cashiers, or Hwy 64 just north of Whiteside Mtn., north of Highlands, NC. Experience the magic of Western North Carolina's high country and the traditional Southern Appalachian resort towns of Highlands and Cashiers in a spectacular Smoky Mountain setting. Our home is nestled among hemlock trees on a clear mountain lake and is the perfect Smoky Mountain cabin for your next vacation. Nearby Cashiers, NC (5miles) is a wonderful town with great shopping and restaurants. Just a little further is Highlands, NC,(10 miles) also with great shopping and restaurants. Just down the mountain about 30 minutes away are Franklin, NC, and Sylva, NC, also great cities to visit. We often take day trips to Ashville, NC, where the Biltmore Estate is located or to Smokey Mountain National Park where we ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit Cade's Cove & the Cherokee Indian Village. There are countless other activities and sights in the area. You won't ever be board unless you want to be...
