Los Alamitos, CA

pretty good cabin.

  • 3 of 5

It has three floors so that means the top floor gets very hot in the summer. Bathroom floors were a bit dirty.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately 98% of homes in Big Bear do not have A/C . Although it can get warm during the daytime it cools off at night to the forties and fifties. It makes me wonder how the pioneers made it when they crossed the country in covered wagons when it was hot ? This is not an excuse, but my housekeeper has to have a vacation once a year so we had a back up house cleaner I thought I could trust, but I guest not. This will not happen again

Ski trip to Big Bear Mountain

  • 3 of 5

Property was walkable to Big Bear Mountain ski area. We liked the multiple floors for various gatherings in a group of 6. Mike the host was not the best at communicating and got a bit nasty when we needed a gas bottle exchanged on the gas BBQ. He forced us to walk up the hill to meet him, and schlep the bottle back to the house. That wasn't a good experience. Mike was also a bit nasty prior to arrival when asked for directions. He made a stink about providing location and directions and only provided them after multiple email requests. Not sure what that was about.

Owner's Response: To start off the guest was given the location of the property in the check in instructions-no other guest have problems finding the cabin. After they arrived I received a nasty phone call with him shouting at me on the phone about the cabin being dirty which I knew was incorrect. Upon further questioning what he called dirty was in fact a 2 inch piece of paper he found in the trash can. Then he complained about the propane which was half full but he wanted more. I told him I had a bad knee and if he wanted more he would have to walk next door to the garage and he complained all the way in a sarcastic voice. At that point I felt like writing him a check for the full amount of his rental including all fee's so I could tell him to get out. After all this he never used the BBQ. During the rest of there visit they were drunk most of the time and making a lot of noise and doing a lot of shouting I almost called the police. I live next door and could hear them -the lots between the cabins are 13,000 square feet -so the cabins are not real close to each other.. After they checked out I did a walk through and noticed they knocked the sliding glass shower doors of the track and pulled one of the kitchen door hinges out. They will never come back here again and I would not recommend them to any other owner of a vacation rental .
