This home is in a great location in Venture Out with easy and quick access to open water. We're also on a wide point in the canal (see 4th photo taken from our porch looking out into the canal). As the new owners in May 2014, we updated with fresh paint and all new family room furniture, including a very comfortable leather couch and small size leather recliner. There's also a new flat screen tv in the family room and flat screen tvs in each bedroom. Cable with an upgraded channel package and WIFI are included. We've added a good bit of new bedding, including pillows/sheets/mattress pads. A new refrigerator was installed in 2013, a new dishwasher in 2014, and a new air conditioner in 2017. We have three bikes, two with baskets if you want to ride over and buy anything at the marina store. The home is a two bedroom, two full baths cottage - perfect for 2 to 4 people (any more than 4, it's too crowded. Therefore, we accept up to 4 people only). It's on a wide deep water canal with a 35’ dock and an open water view. And only six houses from that open water!
The house is a charming and happy place. It has true Keys character, as it was originally decorated by a spirited artist and an array of tropical colors abounds throughout. You'll feel like you're on a vacation in the Caribbean even if it's raining. The kitchen comes fully stocked with all the utensils, dishes, pots/pans, and small appliances you need to prepare a gourmet meal (including a standing Kitchen Aid mixer). You'll be impressed! There are plenty of quality linens and towels for a comfortable stay. Rattan ceiling fans are in every room and the floor is completely tiled throughout. A small dorm size, upright bait freezer is installed under the deck. We also have a fishing rod holder near the guest dock box for your rods. Even though we have a responsive onsite property manager, we are active owners, coming down twice a year to make sure the contents of the house and grounds are being maintained and in tip top shape! *****PLEASE NOTE, AS OF 4/27/2018, we still have a couple of items to take care of on the OUTSIDE of the home courtesy of Hurricane Irma. We are missing the awning covering the back deck (we hope to be replaced late 2018, it's hard to find someone to do it!) and therefore, have installed two large umbrellas for shade. Bahama shutters covering the windows on road side of the house will also be replaced late 2018.
The 35' seawall has a swim ladder, dock posts, cleats, fish cleaning station, and a concrete picnic table. The deck has a view of the ocean and two picturesque canals. You get to see the sunrise on your left and the sunset on your right (one of the prettiest panoramic sunset views in Venture Out in my opinion!). An electric grill is provided. We have a dock box containing swim noodles, snorkel equipment, a couple of beach chairs, and a few tennis rackets.
Please note that there is an entry fee for our gated community that you will have to pay at the front gate. This gives you FULL access to all of the resort’s amenities. The resort amenities include: 24 hour security, lighted tennis courts, Olympic-sized heated pool (the cleanest pool I've ever seen!) kiddie pool, spa Jacuzzi, ping pong, bocce ball courts, shuffleboard courts, golf putting area, lighted basketball court, children's playground, pool table, darts, marina complete with two boat ramps, a free pressure washer, gas, store, ATM and fish cleaning station, open water picnic areas, ocean front tiki hut, lending library, post office - and MORE - all in a wonderfully managed community where you can feel safe and secure.
There is no charge for launching your boat at the Venture Out Marina. It's also a great spot for kayaks. You can swim or fish from the open water areas. And there is a big TIKI HUT on the open water where picnicking is perfect.
Within several minutes there are some great restaurants. A couple of our favorites are the Square Grouper (right here on Cudjoe Key!) for all you gourmet foodies out there and Boondocks on Ramrod Key for a more casual, open air atmosphere with tons of flat screen tvs for watching your favorite sports teams. Boondocks also has a mini golf course for added fun. Last but not least, between Cudjoe and Summerland Key, is a fantastic little bakery called the Sugerloaf Food Company. Excellent high quality gourmet desserts and sandwiches, open for breakfast and lunch. And of course, Key West is only 20 minutes away for first class shopping and dining.
The Marina Store within walking distance in the resort stocks many necessities, such as soft drinks, beer, and wine.
SORRY, THIS IS A NO SMOKING / NO PET HOUSE.
