About Lisa Huston
I live in Portland and love the Columbia River Gorge.
Lisa Huston purchased this House in 2003
Why Lisa Huston chose White Salmon
The close proximity to Portland combined with drier, sunnier climate and fantastic options for stuff to do.
What makes this House unique
The White Salmon River is one of the most beautiful rivers on earth - it is, quite simply, gorgeous! There are so many options for things to do, and great spots to sit and read a book or simply stare at the river and daydream.

We had a great family thanksgiving! Had something for everyone to enjoy!
This was the perfect setting for my women's retreat! The autumn colors were spectacular, and the house provided a cozy place for sharing meals and deep conversations by the fire. The owner was very accommodating, and the caretaker attentive to our needs on site. We were all so grateful for the time we spent there!
This is a large and very well-equipped house in excellent condition and a quiet location a few miles north of Hood River. While the property adjoins the rushing White Salmon River (which adds a lovely sound ambiance), the only downside is the lack of a view.
Wonderful Family Reunion Location
We loved our stay at the Husum Hideaway. The house was filled with extras, and made for a very convenient trip! A well-appointed toy room with board cames, card games, lincoln logs and puzzles kept our kids and kids-at-heart entertained for our 4 days there.
What A Week It Was!
It would take forever to list all the good things about our stay in this wonderful house but I will mention some highlights and a minor nit. Extremely well equipped kitchen with dishes/glassware/flatware for at least 20 could use more wine glasses considering the location (be sure to visit the AniChe tasting). If the weather had been bad and we'd had more kids with us the abundant provided toys/games/entertainment would have been life-saving. Instead we sat on the deck and listened to the river for hours and hours. Then walked a quarter mile up the road to pick sweet corn that tasted just like I remember from childhood. Oh, and there are two separate laundry facilities.
We would definitely come back. Beautiful outdoors and in!
Had everything we needed, and more.

A 10 minute drive will bring you to the Columbia River with some of the best wind surfing and kite boarding in the world. There are mountain bike and hiking trails and a nearby riding stable. There are two more golf courses within a half hour drive.
