About the Property

4 bedroom, 3 bath, 1 gameroom with 2 sets of bunk beds

This three story rustic beauty is located on a 1.5 acre lot on the north part of Lake Conroe one half mile from the Sam Houston National Forest. This is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home with awesome views of the lake situated in a tranquil setting. This property was designed for family vacations and gatherings. All of the bedrooms are spacious, as is the entire home, providing ample space for 14 guests. Although the home is sizable, it offers a cozy feel due to it's design and location. The home is eclectically decorated with many antique and vintage one of a kind furnishings. The main living area has two sitting chairs and a leather sofa. The dining area offers a large table with seating for 6 and a functional buffet as well as a player piano. A galley style kitchen opens up into the dining room with a large bar separating the two spaces. Two bedrooms are located on the main floor. Bedroom one offers king size guest quarters while bedroom two offers queen size accommodations. There is a full size bath on the main floor with a shower/tub combination. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, one of these offers a queen size guest room with a walk out deck. The other upstairs bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds, perfect for a kids retreat. Also upstairs is a full size bath with a shower/tub combination. Downstairs, in the walk out basement, is a game room/bedroom, complete with 2 more sets of bunk beds; a favorite of older kids. Also included downstairs is an air hockey table and a full size bath with a walk in shower. A full size washer and dryer are also located downstairs in the utility room. The home is heated and cooled with central air and heat. The home has a large deck on the main floor that wraps around the side of the house, offering great views of the lake from any location. A picnic and garden table are located on the deck along with 10 chairs, providing plenty of seating. Additional picnic tables are available upon request. The property also features a pier and boat house, which has been recently decked in and can be used as a party room and/or fishing platform. An awning is attached to the boat house to provide shade for outdoor fishing in the summer months. Guests are welcome to bring a boat and dock it at the boat house and pier for convenient access to the lake. This part of Lake Conroe is well known for trophy bass and catfish, with one local marina sporting weekly fishing tournaments. Besides fishing, guests may enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking and biking through the forest. Birdwatching is another favorite of our guests. During fall and winter months bald eagles are often seen around the boat house and at the tops of pine trees on the property. For both big and little kids, the property provides plenty of space for games such as soccer, baseball, badminton, volleyball, horseshoes and/or croquet. For those who like to shop, this property is located approximately 15 minutes from Conroe Outlets and 20 minutes from The Woodlands Mall. Board games are located throughout the home and a BBQ pit is also available for use. Both Stow-A-Way Marina and Lochness Marina are within walking distance of this home, they both offer casual dining and Stow-A-Way has a convenience store for those items you may have forgotten to bring with you. Stow-A-Way Marina also offers a boat launch for a $10 fee. The property has ample parking that can accommodate up to 4 vehicles, with additional parking across the street. This home is located just one hour north of Houston, and twenty minutes north of The Woodlands and sure to offer something for everyone to enjoy. This property is not intended for after prom parties, homecoming groups or any other high school celebrations.

About the owner: Owners Dan and Tammie Werring have been married for 14 years and have lived in Willis all of those years. Dan works in downtown Houston and has been with the same company for 35 years. Tammie currently manages the rental property, as well as her family. Full time, let me tell you! We are a fun loving family and really enjoy the tranquillity of living on the edge of the national forest on this beautiful lake.

Why the Owner Chose Willis, TX, USA:
We purchased this rental property because it is so beautiful and it adjoins our orignial property. We didn't want to risk losing any of the natural serenity the lake and surroundings provide. Both our properties offer spectacular views of not just the lake, but of nature in general. Upon buying this property we were able to secure the view and privacy of our original home, while obtaining an additional home with lake access. The rental property was vacant for many years and when the owners decided to sell, we eagerly decided to buy it. We have since then renovated the interior and exterior of the home, and added updated appliances. We are very pleased with the outcome of the renovation. The recent updates make the place even more spectacular. When Dan leaves downtown Houston each day and drives over the bridge just past Stow-A-Way Marina, he feels rejuvenated when he gets to the lake. That daily refreshment is the reason he drives 120 miles a day to and from work. There is just something so calming and peaceful about this area that we both cherish. Previously, we occassionaly rented this property for family gatherings. Business was initially generated either by word of mouth or by people passing by who noticed it was a vacation rental, but now we are in a position to start renting it on a regular basis and are excited to be able to share our unique experience of lake front living with others.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
This property is not only breathtakingly beautiful but it is quiet and peaceful. It is not overly done, there are no big bells and whistles, just relaxation and an overall soothing calmness. The feeling you get when you are sitting on the deck with friends and family is priceless. The stillness of the water, watching bald eagles and blue herons working on their catch of the day, or just watching the fishing boats pass by all help to soothe the soul and rejuvenate the mind. It is a true retreat from everyday living.
