This is a guest room separate from the main house known here in Ponderosa as 'The Aspen Ark'. Since it faces a large meadow surrounded by Aspen Pines.
This is an unusual architectural masterpiece built in the 70`s, then known as 'The Bear Cave'
The room is not a cabin but is a very private guest hotel room adjacent to the main house. There is a microwave, toaster oven, mini fridge and coffee maker.
A step above camping with a full size bathroom, giant shower, nice king size bed and sofa. Dishes and utensils are available in the room.
Very private since the viewing areas are on the opposite side of the property
looking into the Sequoia National Forest.
Located at the top of the Sequoia National Forest near Quaking Aspen Meadow and Peppermint Creek Campground, this retreat is only 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles. This is a mountain meadow guest house and unlike other properties in the area is available all year. Activities include Cross Country Sking ( with rentals available) Dog Sledding, Sledding, Snowmobiling, ATV, Fishing, Hiking, Hunting and Mountain Biking the famous Nelson Trail and Freeman Grove Trail. I pick up riders downhill in Camp Nelson. This is a guest house cabin located adjacent to the owners home at the end of a culdesac with forest access on three sides. Very private with access to Needles Lookout just behind the property, Freeman Grove, Dome rock, Peppermint Creek and The Golden Trout Wilderness!
Forest access from three sides and private trail will lead you to all the great trails for all winter and summer sports.
I am a retired fashion designer/teacher living full time in Ponderosa, CA.
Leah Walton purchased this cabin in 2014
This propery is unlike any other in the area because it is at the end of a culdesack with forest access on all three sides. Very private. Endless trails to hike and bike. Pets welcome.
Wheel chair accessible room. Dog sledding. Pet friendly
A great place to stay if you are looking to explore the Western Divide Highway and hikes nearby. It's clean, quiet, and has everything you could need while traveling. Leah was a great host-hope to return soon
Located on the edge of the charming Ponderosa subdivision adjacent to seemingly endless, high-altitude alpine meadows and forests, this cabin is ideal for hikers, mountain bikers and nature enthusiasts.
Leah was a doll! We went the weekend of March 25-27 and found ourselves in this beautiful forest covered in snow! the room was comfortable, warm and big. i really love the fact that she doesn't have a TV in there, makes a couples trip that much more interesting. Thanks again Leah!
We chose a night in Ponderosa to experience the high southern sierra in winter. What a great choice! The property is located right at the edge of town and has walk out access to nature. A pretty big winter storm came in overnight and we were treated to snow covered everything the next morning. So beautiful. Leah is a very kind host and we enjoyed meeting her (and her awesome dog pack) very much. Can't wait to return over the summer and get some long day hikes in! Bring a deck of cards for fun and make sure you hit the store for a burger and beer.
We were back again to see the snow this time and it was a beautiful time of year. The home had everything you could want.
My husband and I stayed here for the last weekend of deer hunting. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway. Just the right amount of amenities (BBQ, bathroom with a huge shower, clean room and heater). Friendly host, great location. We plan to be back again soon!
