Welcome to the Animas View Cottage … your home away from home.
This quaint Victorian cottage, built in 1998, is within walking distance to the center of Silverton. Not only can you hear the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad trains whistling as they enter and leave town, but the rush of the beautiful Animas River is only 100 feet away. Plus a small stream runs through the back yard, with a private natural bridge to get to the river without getting wet.
Classic filigree combined with cheery colors provides an experience unique to Silverton and all its charm as a historic mining town. You’ll feel instantly relaxed sitting on the sunny deck and taking in the breathtaking views.
Four friends and I stayed at this property while on an annual Silverton Mountain ski trip. The house was very conducive for a group of friends or family looking for a warm, spacious place (more spacious than it appears from the photos) with plenty of beds for a decent sized group. The house's location is close enough to walk to downtown, but also far enough away from Main Street (and on the Animas River) to really feel like you're secluded in the mountains. It was a great place for a long weekend get away in beautiful Silverton.
We had a family reunion here and stayed for 6 nights. It was a perfect place for us. When we first drove up, we thought it looked small but when we got inside, we were pleasantly surprised at how much room there was! There was plenty of room for us, 7 adults and 5 kids. The loft was perfect for the kids! It is close to the Animas and we woke up and fished it every day. It's secluded enough that the traffic of the ATV's and cars didn't disturb a bit. And thanks to Tommy, who took great care of us!
Great house for a group skiing Silverton! With 3+ bedrooms and space for many people this was great! We did not bring kiddos but the loft would have been perfect if we had. We will be back and hopefully more snow then! The property manager was very easily reachable and extremely helpful. Wish we were still there!
Had a great experience renting this property. Would definitely recommend staying here! We had a large group and had plenty of room. Manager was very helpful. Home was clean and everything worked well.
MY friends and I stayed at this house for just over a week in July and had a wonderful time. The home is so adorable, super-comfy with a great fireplace in the living room, pretty deck right on the river and gorgeous views. The bedrooms were nice and the bathrooms updated and clean. The rental manager, Tommy, was so great to work with. He was always available in town if we needed him, and, leading up to our stay, he was more than accommodating when we needed to make adjustments. He made sure our trip went smoothly! We are already booked to come back next year.
Overall, this is a great place to stay. The views are great and it's far away enough from the main part of town that you don't get a lot of traffic. Very clean, great views with your morning cup of coffee, and enough room to spread out. The add-on with the loft and bunks are perfect for the kids. You can reduce what you pack, because they just added a new washer and dryer which really was nice. Our boy made friends with the nieghbors and enjoyed playing by the river that's adjacent to the property. It is definately worth it, and this is coming from someone that has been coming to Silverton since 1985. There are only a few homes in town that I would stay at and this one is one of my top 3. Tommy thank you for everything and we will see you next year.
