About Lin Bernhardt

The husband and wife team of Lin and Lynn love to share their little piece of heaven with others. We're passionate about caring for the land and respecting all living things. We have provided homes for a number of rescued animals including horses, chickens, goats (though not currently), dogs and cats. When away from the farm, we enjoy being in nature and taking off in our camper.

Lin Bernhardt purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Lin Bernhardt chose Talent

We were so lucky to find this property....having a gorgeous rural home on serene property so close to town....it wasn't even on the market when we purchased it! It was a place for our horses where we could grow our own hay, have a large garden, and be close to all the amazing talent the area has to offer. Theater, art galleries, beautiful wineries, amazing music venues, lakes and rivers close by all add to why we choose to call the Rogue Valley our home.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful open spaces, gardens, animals, privacy, tranquility, and a serene country setting but close in to name just a few!

A delightful experience at a working Oregon farm

  • 5 of 5

We spent one night at the farm, and would liked to have stayed longer. We loved the charming studio rental, and loved meeting the farmers and the rescue animals that live on the farm. It was heartening to find a place where people, dogs, chickens, geese, horses, a turkey, and a cat are all peacefully co-existing. We were cheered to be on an actual working family farm -- not a an agro-business. The farm is in a rural area, surrounded by pear orchards, and less than a mile from the town of Talent -- easily walkable. The facilities are great -- good working kitchen and WiFi included. I would recommend this place especially to people who do not want to be in a standard hotel and want to wake up and find oak leaves on their car, and make friends with a turkey.

Quiet tranquility near Ashland OR

  • 5 of 5

Charming studio in tranquil setting @ Shady Grove Farm! We stayed for 6 nights, and hated to leave! Conveniently close to Ashland, easy to attend the Shakespeare Theater plays, and enjoy restaurants and shopping in Ashland. The town of Talent has several charming eateries, including a fabulous Coffeehouse in town...all these within one mile walk from the cottage! If you bring bicycles, there's a nearby entrance to the wonderful pedestrian/bicycle path that runs for miles between Ashland and Medford. Another bonus are the horses, charming chickens (they have personalities!), and wild turkeys on the property...wonderful to be in such a natural setting.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay on this beautiful property! It was just a short distance to the Shakespeare Festival (10 minutes) and it was so nice to come home to this peaceful farm. The animals we met were sweet, the surroundings were quiet and beautiful, and our host was wonderful and friendly. We would love to stay here again sometime.

Enchanted Bliss

  • 5 of 5

My family only had the opportunity to stay one evening as we headed onto our next destination, but it was wonderful. The warm and kind hosts allowed our boldly adventurous little munchkin run through the sprinklers, check out the horses in the barn and even opened the gates for us to watch them to run in the pasture. Beautiful. The studio was very comfortable and clean. The bed was amazing! We ate dinner outside overlooking the pond in our own secluded area. We felt very welcomed during our stay. Our next journey through Oregon will have another stop here in Talent.

This farm is beautiful. Loved it.

  • 5 of 5

The studio was immaculate and well stocked. Very comfortable and private. I love the beautiful Oregon countryside and couldn't have been happier than to find myself there. A lovely rest and home base to see a play in Ashland on our way to see the eclipse. Thank you to the host, Lin for making our stay so nice.

Wish we could have spent more time at this lovely studio and town. I would recommend a 2 day stay for sure. My daughter loved the animals and I loved the back yard. Also, went into town and met some locals at the wine bar.

Please note that this is a working farm. While machinery is only operating in the hay field on a very occasional basis, we attempt to minimize noise and try to limit mowing/baling when guests are not present. Agricultural activity also occurs on adjacent farms but the serenity of the countryside is rarely interrupted.
We do ask studio guests to leave the studio clean for the next guests.
