About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage pleanty of room for everyone

Brewer’s Cottage is located just a short walk from just about everything that matters. It is the place to stay if you want to park your car and walk or bike to all the local attractions that are popular or better yet, discover some of our local treasures that are so much enjoyed by the residents but not well known to travelers. With a private driveway, you have off street parking for 2 cars. This quaint looking bungalow is deceptively spacious. This rambler/garden room has so many windows you will find it bright with natural sun light. Curb appeal is abundant as you are welcomed by the inviting front porch, where you can just picture yourself with an early morning coffee and enjoy watching the town come alive! Or if you are like me, and enjoy a late evening cocktail, this is the time to watch the horse drawn carriage and the locals walk their family pets. You never know what or who you will see stroll by on the sidewalk!

Brewer’s Cottage is a bungalow with everything but the laundry room on the one floor! It was fully renovated just two years ago so everything on the inside is new! There are about 3 steps to get up to the front porch. The floor plan is shaped like the letter “L” with the living room/ sitting room and study in the short part facing the street. The long part of the “L” runs north and south, and houses both bedrooms, both bathrooms, the kitchen plus a little kitchen nook and dining area. The laundry facilities are on the lower level.

About Janet Trogdon

We have been in love with Niagara-on-the-Lake since the first time we visited many years ago. We never get tired of exploring the wineries, the restaurants and the biking trails. Queen Street, with its boutiques, art galleries, and theatres, is just the cherry on top. Niagara-on-the-Lake has become our celebration destination! Whether it was milestone birthdays, anniversaries, attending weddings or family reunions it seems like we were always headed to the prettiest little town in Canada! While we have always enjoyed coming and sampling the fruit stands, local food stores and restaurants, we have witnessed the burgeoning wineries and the evolution of the town becoming a culinary destination. With food trucks, farm to table restaurants, the ‘eating local’ movement and the land mark winery restaurants, no wonder Niagara-on-the-Lake has earned the title ‘Culinary Capital of Canada”!

While we are still years from even thinking of when we will stop working, we have developed a strong bond to this quaint little town and know it is where we want to retire. So conveniently located between the Toronto and Buffalo airports, it makes both domestic and international travel readily accessible. This has made Niagara-on-the-Lake our ultimate choice for retirement. Prior to purchasing our home in the fall of 2013, we like you, travelled here to relax, enjoy the community and do the things we love doing like exploring the region and discovering off the beaten track places but also learning about the history of the region, exploring the Niagara River either by hiking its shoreline, or by kayak. There is an abundance of parks so we have found our favorite picnic spots along the Niagara Parkway, our favorite spot to watch sunsets is Ryerson Park and our favorite walk in the morning is along the golf course and the back again to explore the gardens that each home owner takes so much pride in. There is always something new to discover!

Why Janet Trogdon chose Niagara-on-the-Lake

Brewer's Cottage was the first of nine houses we saw when we started looking for a place to buy, almost on a lark. Flooded with natural light, it was welcoming and warm. It had plenty of places to gather with family and friends, but also a number of little corners for hiding away and reading a good book. We immediately felt at home. Over the years and having travelled in so many places, we know what we like to enjoy when on a break away from our busy lives. The appeal of Brewer’s Cottage was immediate. This house welcomed us in from the open front , once inside we could immediately picture ourselves and our family here enjoying weekends and special occasions! The excitement we felt when we purchased our vacation home has not subsided. We know we made the right choice and shortly after buying it, we spent a magical Christmas here. We look so forward to building memories here and we are also excited about sharing our dream with you! We wanted a place that we could park the car, go get groceries, enjoy the parks and beautiful neighbourhoods. We don’t even have to get in the car to go see a play!! Just steps from Queen Street and a short walk to the golf course, lake and trails, Brewer's Cottage is in the perfect location to enjoy all that Niagara-on-the-Lake has to offer.

We are in a location that while we can easily access the hustle and bustle of Queen St, but we don’t have it in our backyard. Our little oasis is a private place where we can enjoy the bbq/grill or just sit out and read a good book. The other thing we loved is that it was completely renovated just a year before we bought it!! All we had to do was bring in our furniture and figure out how to place it. Our neatest thing was when we had the bed custom made to be either a king or a set of twins. This gives us the versatility when we have our own family over. So make sure when you book, that you specify if you want the room made up for twin or a king size beds!!

What makes this cottage unique

Brewer’s Cottage has so many unique benefits of a home-away-from-home that it is hard to know where to start. We take great pride in offering a vacation home that provides travelers with comfort and the knowledge that when they walk in the front door, it is as advertised. We want to make sure that when you come in the front door it is as we said it would be. We have professional cleaners, offer a well equipped kitchen, the recent renovation ensures everything is new and works! We have wireless wifi, because we know it’s important to feel that you can be connected to the outside world, whether you choose to or not is up to you!! We have basic cable on the TV so all you sports nuts might be a little frustrated, but your spouses will be pleased to have your full attention! Where else can you walk to one of the top 10 short courses in North America?? Just make sure to book your tee off time, because it is a popular course!

Each bedroom has a bathroom off of it, with the one also having access to the rest of the house. We really think that the spaciousness of the rooms, and all the sitting nooks offer a special place to relax regardless of the weather outside. The central air conditioning makes it comfortable during the summer months, and the gas fire place can take the chill off in the cool of the evenings during the off season. We have central heat as well! This vacation home is a great place to stay no matter what time of year. The gardens and lawn will need to be maintained during the week in the spring, summer, winter and fall, but our ‘guy’ knows it’s a vacation home so he will work around your enjoyment of the outdoor space. In the winter our ‘guy’ comes and removes snow from the drive way, porch and sidewalks. When we travel we want to make sure that the place we are staying is well located, clean and lets us have a stress free holiday because everything is in good working condition! We decided to go with professional property managers to ma

Great cottagge in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our 3 day girl's getaway. We wished that we could have stayed longer. The location, close to the heart of NOTL, could not have been better as everything we needed was in walking distance ie grocery store, Starbucks and shopping. We visited wineries, unique artisan shops, Picard's, and much more as we toured around the area. It was an easy and beautiful walk along the lakeshore as well. The cottage was clean, roomy and well appointed for our group of five gals! We were all very pleased with our stay.

Perfect cottage close to town

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here with another couple for wine touring over a long weekend. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. The bedrooms were well separated and each had direct access to a full bath. We were able ot hang out in the evenings in the living area in front of the fireplace on a comfortable love seat and couch. The kitchen had plenty of room to sit down for a meal and was easy to work in as well. Thanks for a great weekend!!!

Great location, great kitchen, quiet but steps away

  • 5 of 5

The Shaw festival was a short walk away. A good supermarket was just around the corner. The kitchen was better than our wonderful kitchen in our home. We ate at the Golf Club and at chi-chi Treadwell's, both minutes away. We shopped at wineries and Mennonite farms. If we could, we would buy this cottage. You'll love it, but, please, not when we want it again.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. You are correct to let others know how great your stay is but this could mean that Brewer's Cottage will be booked for your next stay! We do encourage our guests to make their return booking while they are here, not only will you be more likely to get the dates that you would like, it also means that you will book at this year's rates! This vacation home has a great location and the recent renovation gives the charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake but all the modern conveniences. We love hearing that you had a wonderful stay and the Brewer's Cottage helped to make it even better! Janet and Eric

Our Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Each August my sister, mom and I leave our hectic lives behind and spend a few days together. This year we chose to explore Niagara On The Lake. We always rent a home through VRBO and Brewer's Cottage gets added to the list of perfect places we have rented. The pictures do not tell the whole story. Although it has only two bedrooms, there were several spaces where you could go read a book and be alone. The house is IMMACULATE, well appointed with nice bedding and a kitchen that had it all. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Walk out the front door and turn left and you are in the most charming town, turn right and go up two blocks and you are at the lake and golf course. We enjoyed a play at the SHAW FESTIVAL (we walked around the corner to the theater), went to some wineries, had some great meals IN and OUT and did a touristy day at Niagara Falls. Although there are many beautiful bed and breakfasts in town, we would choose Brewer's Cottage again.

Very nice cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Brewer's Cottage met our needs and then some. Perfect location for Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL). Everything is within walking distance. Lots of new items in the cottage (appliances, TVs, flooring, bathrooms, etc.). Looks like it was recently refurbished and everything was very clean and well furnished with supplies. We would certainly recommend Brewers and will stay here again on a return visit.

By the way, we loved NOTL. Flowers are everywhere and the landscaping is first class. We were here 3 nights and wish we had a few more nights. Tons of things to do including, Niagara Falls, Butterfly Conservancy, Whirlpool Jet Boat, and much more. The main attraction in NOTL is the Shaw Festival, but we didn't even have time to attend a play. The weather was just perfect and we enjoyed just walking the town and lake/river shore. We did take the "walking tour" which provided the very interesting history of the area.
