About the property

This lodge-style camp is really spacious and cozy -- it takes you back in time! Yet it has all the modern conveniences you could ask for in a new kitchen and bathroom. There are 4 bedrooms, a large living/dining room, and a huge screened porch on 100' of western-facing lake frontage. Enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, woodland walks, and beautiful sunsets right outside the door. The camp is located only a few miles from the historic town of Belgrade Lakes with its quaint shops, restaurants and public boat landing, as well as the award-winning Belgrade Lakes Golf Club (open to the public). Within 20 miles are Colby College, University of Maine Farmington, the Maine State Capitol in Augusta, and Viles Arboretum.

Best week of the summer!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our time at Sunset Cottage. It was the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. We felt lucky to be able to stay at Carol and Karen's perfect lake house, which is both rustic and charming with fabulous renovated kitchen and bathroom making it the perfect combo for a family get away!! We spent our days kayaking and swimming in the lake and evenings on the porch enjoying the sparkly evening reflection from the water steps away. We can't wait for our next trip back!

Another Wonderful Vacation - Thanks Deb & Dave

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at Sunset Cottage on Great Pond. It was, once again. fabulous. Love the whole atmosphere there. Start the day by sitting on the screened in porch, with a cup of coffee, listening to nothing but the Loons. It is so peaceful. Being right on the pond is wonderful too. The house is far enough away from "down town" but close enough to get there quickly, either by boat or road. It is also close enough to Augusta to do some "real" shopping if you want.

The house is very nice & clean. The kitchen & bathroom are updated & there are plenty of supplies if you happen to forget yours. No need to bring dishes, pans, etc because they are all there. There is a T.V., with cable, but why would you even turn it on when you can be enjoying the screened in porch or sitting by the water & fire pit? Both times we stayed, there has always been a welcome not and gift from Karen & Carol. They also check in during the week to make sure things are good. :)

If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay in Maine, this is the place!!!

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Sunset Cottage could not have been any better for our family. We absoulutely loved the rustic/historic original construction of this home, and was equally grateful for the newer kitchen and bath areas. There is plenty of space here to spread out if you need to spend a rainy day inside, but we had plenty of sunshine and spent most of our days on the lower level lakeside area, on the spacious dock, or in the boat out on the beautiful lake. The owners provided four kayaks and life vests which were used daily on our week stay here.

The large porch overlooking the lake saw lots of conversation and laughter in the evenings as well as a few very competitive board games:) Everything you could need is close by in the towns of Belgrade, Waterville, or Augusta. And as always, a trip back home to Maine is not complete without a visit to The Red Barn for lobstah' rolls and seafood chowdah'.

Thank you Karen and Carol for opening up your beautiful place here on Great Pond for others to enjoy! This just might be our new favorite place!!

Would absolutely return!

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and well maintained? The location could not have been better as we were right on the lake! We were graced by a bald eagle and an owl at very close range. The loons were amazing with calls! It was the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of daily living. Although in the remote town of Rome, all of our needs were met. The local grocery was friendly, food was fresh and all the local beers were available!

Best Labor Day Ever!

  • 5 of 5

We booked the camp for the Labor Day holiday and could not have picked a better place! The house is rustic and has a true "camp" feel, but is spacious and immaculately clean. The renovated kitchen and bath are beautiful! We enjoyed the lake and sitting outside every day. Carol was incredibly helpful, and quickly responded to all of my inquiries. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, laid-back getaway, and cannot wait to stay here again. Thanks again, Carol!

Perfection!

This house was absolutely perfect! My family and I have a wonderful time. The home was clean, spacious, comfy, cozy, and had all the amenities a family could need. Carol the caretaker was just lovely! We've been vacationing in Belgrade for 20 years and this was by far our favorite spot!! We'll definitely be booking again for next year!
