About Brian Smith

Why Brian Smith chose Connecticut

Knowing this lake well, when we became aware that this property was available we contracted for it even before being able to see it in person. It is the oldest of very few houses built on this lake.

What makes this house unique

This lake has only ten houses on it. The shoreline on the opposite side is unoccupied and is protected from development by a historic boy scout camp and woodlands. One of few places in the world that it gets dark enough to really enjoy the stars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house surpassed our expectations, The lake was wonderful. So many wonderful memories made with our families.

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This location was perfect for us as it placed us within close proximity as our family that lives in the area. Everything about the house was what we needed, the lake amenities were unexpected and greatly appreciated by the kiddos. It was great in the evenings to just relax after the children went to bed and sit on the expansive porch and then return in the morning with a cup of coffee to enjoy the sunrise. Arrival information and communication were fantastic, we never had a question as everything was provided in great detail just before our arrival. For our future trips to Goshen, this will be our go to spot.

We had a great week for a 3 generation gathering. The pond was wonderful for all of us swimming including my husband doing his early morning laps. We enjoyed the flotilla of kayaks, canoes, paddle boat and sunfish with all the necessary life jackets of assorted sizes. Very clean and well equipped.

Extremely comfortable, well equipped rental

  • 5 of 5

We all *loved* our stay at this wonderful lake house. Our family has rented quite a few houses, and this was easily the best equipped and convenient. All of the bedrooms were nicely furnished with comfortable linens and towels (and there were even beach towels provided). The kitchen was also well provisioned, and large enough to accommodate several family chefs/food preppers at a time. The boats provided were wonderful: several kayaks, a canoe, a paddleboat, a Sunfish (which admittedly we didn't use), and lifejackets for all (including our four year old). No additional rentals needed, which we've needed to manage in earlier lake rentals (and having to get rental boats to and from a rental property is a hassle).

We really enjoyed boating on the lake, swimming out to the swim dock, playing games on the lawn--and boardgames inside (also provided) on rainy days.

We were five adults and two kids, and had enough room for all at the dining table and in the living room...even when all of us were watching the Olympics at the same time (the living room couch is quite large :) ).

It was a lovely experience...we're already planning our return! Thanks Brian (and Kristen) for a lovely stay!

The property is absolutely beautiful! We had a wonderful time and would absolutely do it again. As I noted in the guest book, it was so much fun to watch our grandsons (all of whom have a much more citified real life) run, ride bikes, swim, and play games together. The house was very comfortable and encouraged family activities. Thank you!
