Why Victoria Strauss chose South Yarmouth

We've always loved Cape Cod, and it's been our dream to eventually retire there. We bought this house to make our dream come true! We plan to move in for good in ten years or so; in the meantime, we're renting during the season and visiting during the off-season.

Built in the early 1950's, the house had been expanded with a large family room but otherwise hadn't been renovated or upgraded. Initially, we planned just to re-do the kitchen. But one thing led to another...and before we knew it, we found ourselves in the midst of a complete renovation project. Except for the floors, almost every surface in the house is new, from the open-concept kitchen/family room to the bathrooms and bedrooms. We completely re-wired and re-plumbed, replaced the roof, installed new doors and windows, and re-shingled the exterior. We added the decks in front and back, and landscaped the yard. We did most of the work ourselves (we're both pretty handy) with help from friends and a few contractors. It took us the best part of three years.

Now the house is finished, decorated, and beautiful. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Traditional Cape Cod charm with all modern conveniences.

Awesome Cape Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a fantastic week in South Yarmouth in this lovely Cape Cod home. The house was newly remodeled with a wonderful kitchen and 2 great bathrooms. The furnishings were tasteful and comfortable and there was lots of natural light. We enjoyed the back deck and outdoor shower. The house was very close to everything, but in a quiet neighborhood and it felt nicely removed from the Cape traffic and noise. We were close to beaches (Seagull Beach is underrated) and a short walk from Long Pond. We were very sad to leave!!!!

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. One of the things we like best about the house is how central it is to everything on the Cape, yet it feels removed from the summertime hustle and bustle. Thanks so much for this lovely review, and please keep us in mind for next year!

Beautiful Home!!

  • 5 of 5

Another wonderful vacation in your beautiful, clean and comfortable home! It has all the amenities and we can't think of anything else that would be needed. We love the quiet neighborhood and the abundance of lovely plants and flowers in the garden...relaxing, drinking coffee on the back deck overlooking the garden!! And we LOVE the new large, private outdoor shower...just perfect! Looking forward to returning next year!

Our Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we walked in to the minute we left it felt like home!

So much so that we plan on renting it again next year for 2 weeks!

The house is all updated from the wonderful shower to the beautiful kitchen you have everything you need at your finger tips.

The homeowner has thought of everything you would need.

Which is great so you don't have to bring half your house with you on vacation!

The house is centally located , easy get to grocery stores, as well as Route 28, 6 and 6A.

The neighboorhood is quite and peacful.

I would recommend this home highly to anyone who wants to vacation on the Cape!

Owner's Response: Pam, Barry, Bob, Carol, What a great review - we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! I was delighted to get your call about renting in 2017 so soon after you arrived on Saturday and, of course, we'd love to have you back. We're here now, enjoying beautiful September weather, and putting in a 10 x 16 extension on the back deck AND an outdoor shower. Thanks again for staying in our home!

Outstanding Rental!

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautifully renovated. It has every amenity you could possibly want. Everything was top level. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and restaurants, beaches, stores, etc. are all in short driving distance. I could not have asked for more. You get a lot of bang for your buck staying here and the owners make sure you want for nothing. Hope to be back next year!

Great vacation home!!

  • 4 of 5

This home is beautiful! The owners were wonderful! This home is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. We we shocked when we walked in as it was very true to the photos posted here. It is a wonderful place to stay in a quiet neighborhood and is centrally located. The only changes I would make are some type of enclosure for the garbage cans next to the home. There were some animals getting into the garbage even with bungee cords securing them. Several times we had to clean up the garbage that had spilled out. I would also request twin size sheets for the second bedroom or remind guests to bring their own! Beautiful home! Thanks for letting us stay in your home! We hope to return next year!

Owner's Response: Gina, we really appreciate your kind words! We’ve worked really hard to create a home that we love, and we’re really happy that you loved it too. We especially appreciate your taking the time to make suggestions, as that’s the only way that we’ll learn what we need to do to make things even better for our guests. I’m SO sorry that you had to deal with picking up trash – yuck. More than once – triple yuck. That’s certainly not how we want our guests spending time during their vacations, and we'll get one of those enclosures installed very quickly indeed. Thanks for letting us know that we have a problem here, and again, our apologies that you had to deal with this unpleasantness! Thanks, also, for the suggestion about either providing twin sheets, or reminding guests what to bring – perhaps when we acknowledge their final payment. Again, thanks for choosing our home for your Cape Cod vacation. We’d love to have you back next year!
