The Peacock House awaits your arrival. Perched on a hilltop with arguably the best view that exists of Orange County and beyond; yet it's so quiet that all you can hear is the tinkle of wind chimes. This very private and luxurious 3 bedroom home is perfect whether you've come to see the sights or you've come to just relax. Each of the three bedrooms has it's own flat screen Smart t.v. for private viewing and it's own designated bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have new queen-sized beds and one of those bedrooms opens onto a patio with a soothing fountain surrounded by colorful flowers. The master suite has a new king-sized bed, a 55' flat screen Smart t.v., and stunning views from every window. It has it's own walk-in closet and spacious bathroom with an enormous jetted spa tub. It's an ideal retreat after a long day of sightseeing or perhaps just an indulgent, candle-lit soak, sipping wine and looking out at a thousand twinkling lights. For fun with the family or friends, watch your favorite sport on a flat screen gel t.v. while you play a game of pool. Or you can gather in the high-celing living room and watch a 3D cartoon movie with your little ones while the whole family cuddles on a gigantic couch with a lounge seat at each end. There's an electric fireplace for a cozy atmosphere and mesmerizing wall art that swirls and changes colors as you watch. Finally, if you're like us, you'll spend most of your time in the outdoor living room. Not only can you watch a beautiful sunset every night but during the summer, you can see the fireworks at Disneyland precisely at 9:30 every evening. The view at night is so sensational and makes a perfect backdrop for a barbecue, a get together with family or friends, or just a quiet place to sip a drink and chill. For cooler nights, two restaurant-like, propane heaters keep the sitting area warm and cozy while adding an exciting 'tribal council'- like atmosphere complete with the sound of a cheery fountain in the background. The kitchen is sleek with granite counters and a stainless steel gas cooktop. There are 2 refrigerators (one in the garage) to pack in all the food and drink for your family's stay as well as a wine cooler built into the cabinets for perfectly chilled wine or soft drinks. Eat beneath a sparkling chandelier at the dining room table or eat on t.v. trays in front of the big screen Smart TV in the living room. There's also bar stools in the kitchen for a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. A washer and dryer is located steps away in the garage and an extra roll away bed, a queen size air mattress, and the linens for both are provided for your use if needed. There are also beach towels, an umbrella and 2 beach chairs provided in the garage for your use when heading toward the numerous beaches nearby.
If you're coming to Orange County for fun family activities, you will love this location! It's under 30 minutes to Disneyland, the world-famous South Coast Plaza, Knott's Berry Farm, and the quaint artsy town of Laguna beach. If you would like a little longer day trip, Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills are slightly over an hour away to the north, or if you head south on the 405, in just over an hour you can be in San Diego to enjoy their lovely beaches, the zoo or any number of attractions along the way. You can even plan a day to park your car in nearby San Juan Capistrano and take the Surfside train to various points in either San Diego or Los Angeles. Consider also a trip to Julian, located east of Oceanside, for their famous apple pies or take a trip up to the towns of Arrowhead or Big Bear in the San Bernadino mountains to ski, or a trip to Palm Springs to sun or play golf. The city of Mission Viejo where the Peacock House is situated is the largest planned community ever built in the US, so the streets are wide, the parks, trails and lakes are numerous and convenient shopping is nearby. For the exercise enthusiasts or dog walkers who visit, one of those lakes is witin a 10 minute walk down a lovely trail and once there, you can choose to walk the 3 miles around it. Sorry but it's a member-only lake, but it makes for a lovely walk nevertheless. So come to play or come to relax, but come and enjoy yourself at the Peacock House where we've made every effort to provide you with all you'll need for one of the best vacations ever.
I am a born and raised Californian. I grew up in Anaheim and spent my early adulthood living in various beach towns like Laguna and Newport Beach. In my early 30's while living in Northern California, I gave birth to a couple of beautiful children. Laramie, my son, is now in his mid-thirties and lives in Brooklyn, NY and my daughter, Kelly who is now in her early 30's and who presented me with my first adorable grandson, named Kai, a little over 3 years ago. Kelly and Kai have been living in Oregon for the past couple of years and I am now looking for property there to buy so I can be close to them. I plan to spend my spring, summer and fall in Oregon and then winter here in California or someplace else that is warm. I'm a sun-loving Californian through and through. I think they call that on the east-coast, a 'snowbird'. Rather than let this much-beloved home sit empty and forlorn while I'm elsewhere, I love the idea of sharing it's pleasant and easy living with others who come to enjoy Southern California and all the exciting things there are to do in this area. If you decide to stay here, you'll be in contact with my daughter, Kelly, who will guide you through the process of coming here. You'll love 'meeting' her on the phone because truly, to know her is to love her. Once here, feel free to share pictures and experiences of your stay on "the peacock house" Facebook page.
Kelly Flick purchased this house in 1978
My parents loved this home which they lived in happily for over 30 years. My two children (Laramie and Kelly) first came here as toddlers and each visit my dad would put another notch on the garage wall to mark their growth each year. The house has gone through two remodels, one in 2000 where additional square footage was added and then a few years ago when my mother passed away and I inherited the property. My daughter and I are an interior design partnership and we collaborated on a number of structural changes and complete modernization of the decor. We have named the property 'The Peacock House' because the Peacock is an ancient symbol for beauty and integrity. The home is truly beautiful thus the beauty and the integrity represents our sincere desire to provide our guests with the absolute best 'home away from home' experience possible.
Unique to this property is the close proximity to the 5/405 freeway that will get you to so many fun activities in a short amount of time, yet you feel like you're in the country because the quiet is amazing and you feel like you're on top of the world with a commanding view of all around you. The neighbors are quiet with no annoying yapping pets and because of the way the property is situated on the hilltop, they can't see you and you can't see them from your outdoor living room. Since the entire back of the property looks out at a stunning view, each member of your party will be delighted with the accommodations. It's an ideal spot whether you're a single executive out here on business, or a couple, or a family or two here to take your children to Disneyland or Universal Studios, you will be comfortable and cozy at The Peacock House.
Fun whimsical and lovely. View is beautiful.
It was a real treat to spend nine days at Thanksgiving at the Peacock House in Mission Viejo. The home is tastefully decorated with a peacock theme throughout. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and manicured. Coming from the east coast, we especially enjoyed sitting out on the veranda to watch the sunset and enjoy the cool, dry air and gaze at the stunning view of Orange County from a peaceful neighborhood. In the daylight, we would often see hummingbirds sipping from the feeder or many flowers on the property. The neighborhood has a unique combination of paved walking paths and dirt hiking trails that take you past vistas of Lake Mission Viejo and the surrounding Santa Ana mountains; the owner provided detailed directions to the trails as well as to local stores. The home also provides many ways to relax and enjoy games or TV entertainment. The best part was the pool table, between the living room and kitchen, with plenty of space to play without worrying about bumping into the walls or artwork. While the home is generally well maintained, it did have its quirks and minor maintenance issues, including a lighting system that takes some training to get used to, a microwave oven with a flaky door latch, poorly attached pool pockets, a broken cabinet hinge, and no cable reception in one of the rooms. The owner obviously made a special effort to label switches and entertainment system remotes, and provided clear instruction manuals for home amenities. Overall, our family of three found the place comfortable, spacious, and well-appointed. We would definitely rent again in the future.
We had a wonderful stay at the Peacock House. It is so beautiful and the view is amazing. The owner was so very helpful. We definitely hope to stay there again!
We love The Peacock House. All the amenities are provided. The house is comfortable, well-appointed and first class. Plenty of fluffy towels, well stocked condiments and spices. House is tidy and clean and the location is perfect.
Thank you for the welcome bottle of wine. This is our second visit to this house. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Minor suggestion: Hot water faucet in the master bathroom needs a new washer. it drips.
Thanks for a great experience.

My wife and I stayed at Peacock House over Labor Day weekend along with our daughter, son-in-law, and three grandkids. The house is spacious and easily handled all of us. The location is perfect both for visiting beaches and attending our grandson's soccer games in Irvine.
This house is beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable with a fantastic view. It is ideal California living. Great location to visit many of the Southern California beaches and attractions (Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World). Or just stay home for the day relaxing with the family, shooting pool and watching movies on the big screen TV. The kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a home cooked meal. You could spend all day on the patio, the sunset is amazing. This house was perfect for our family vacation.
