1 bedroom-queen, 1 sleeper sofa-queen, 1 full-bath & a beautiful mountain view.
This dwelling was originally a log house kit, bought from Montgomery Ward, in 1940. It has since been refaced twice. Because of its age, you’ll find some quaint adaptations to accommodate its log house exterior frame. The latest remodel is in a southwestern fashion; that's why we affectionately refer to it as the Little Hacienda in Silt.
This little house, located 17 west of the Glenwood Springs area, has one-bedroom and an additional sleeper-sofa in the living room. The one bathroom has a walk-in shower, a deep soaker-tub, one toilet and Jack and Jill sinks. There is also an air conditioner and a gas fireplace. A special amenity is an in-house washer and dryer. All linens and towels are provided.
The bedroom has a queen-size bed, a desk, an end table and a chest of drawers. Connected to the bedroom is a walk-in closet.
The living room houses the sleeper-sofa (queen-size), a rocking chair, coffee table and entertainment center.
For entertainment there is satellite television, Wi-Fi within the house, a book library and various games.
The kitchen has a stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee machine, dishwasher and refrigerator. The fully-furnished kitchen also includes a dining table for four, a charming old-fashioned ice box and all needed cooking and dining utensils. Although guests provide their own meals, there is a variety of seasonings, coffee and basic cooking staples to get started.
The large front porch has a couple of double swings, chairs, side tables and a new gas grill with all necessary grilling tools. The side entrance to the house allows for secure storage of various outdoor gear
With our off-road parking we can easily accommodate travelers who may have trailers, from small tow-behinds to large horse trailers and four-place snowmobile trailers.
This little house is perfect for a temporary place to stay due to a job transfer or a visit with a local resident. Our Little Hacienda in Silt is a great solution to many needs. We welcome both short and long term visits.
Owners, Rich and Laura live on site, which makes checking in and out convenient. Any suggestions, questions, issues or concerns can be addressed immediately.

About Laura and Rich Kolecki
Rich and Laura are long-term residents of the Western Slope of Colorado, having been in this area for over 30 years. Being outdoor enthusiasts, our interests range from hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, backpacking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing as well as gardening. We are more than happy to share our knowledge of this area with our guests.
Laura and Rich Kolecki purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Laura and Rich Kolecki chose Garfield County
Working with the Colorado Division of Wildlife at the Glenwood Springs State Fish Hatchery for over 20 years, helped us fall in love with the area. We purchased the house in 2002 to be our retirement home. The sense of relaxation occurs when sitting on the porch viewing the mountain ranges. Since our initial purchase and our actual retirement we decided to build a larger home on the property and now would like to share this little hacienda with others.
What makes this Cabin unique
This is a quaint, southwestern style home with an adobe-type fireplace and cute tile work throughout the kitchen and bathroom. The covered front porch, with log pillars, entices you to sit down, relax, enjoy the view and life.

Great place in a great location
We enjoyed staying at this house. It worked well for our family of 4, with one kid on the pull-out couch and another on the rollaway bed. The location was great - 10 minutes from Rifle (We LOVED the Rifle ice caves) and 20 minutes from Glenwood Springs and the hot springs there. The house was nice and clean.
Cute get away
We & our dogs enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Little Hacienda in Silt. Everything was just as described. We tried out the Elk Creek Mining Co for dinner & thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks for the nice review. We appreciate when our guests recommend any of the wonderful restaurants or businesses in our area. Because we’re in a tourist area, there are so many wonderful places to eat, relax and venture.
Peaceful, relaxing, well equipped and perfect!
We came up for the weekend for elk camp. We had multiple members of our party staying in different locations in the area. We have all decided the Little Hacienda will remain on our list of favorites for next season. The cabin was perfect for our needs: Big enough to cook and enjoy a large group meal, yet small enough for a cozy place for our family.
The owners were extremely kind and helpful. Looking forward to returning again soon!
Thanks so much. We’re glad it worked out on so many levels for you all. And you are the second group of successful hunters we’ve had this season!
The Little Hacienda in Silt Colorado
This place is perfect, a well kept, clean place. Stayed here for a week to visit with our 2 boys that live in the area. We utilized the big kitchen to cook them home cooked meals, that they loved. Can't do that in a hotel room. The front deck was great to just take in the beautiful view of the mountains. Our hosts, Rich and Laura Kolecki were wonderful. The grill out front was great to have cook outs of steaks, burgers, and hot dogs. The grill was brand new and very nice to cook on. Tina loved the fireplace in the living room, it kept us nice and warm at night when the temp went down in the 20's. We have nothing but good things to say about The Little Hacienda in Silt Colorado. Great Place, our home away from home, I would certainly stay here again on our next visit. I might not submit such a good review on this place, because it might not be available the next time we would like to stay there. Tina survived the trip up to the Independence Pass, which was a white knuckle drive up to the top of the world.
The Little Hacienda is great as a vacation spot and for those just traveling through; it’s also ideal for those visiting loved-ones in this area.
It was such a pleasure meeting you and Tina and we look forward to your next stay!
Comfortable, relaxing cabin style accommodation
Little Hacienda was a great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Glenwood Springs but close enough to be able to drive in each day for the tournament we were attending. At present the main bridge in Glenwood is down so traffic was congested. The Little Hacienda was perfect for us to get away from that in the evening. Laura and Rich were wonderful hosts, sharing produce from their garden and allowing our dog to play in their pasture area. The cabin is well equipped with everything we needed, and very spacious for two of us and our dog. The bed was comfortable, plenty of linen, blankets etc. The cabin was warm and we did not need the heat on even though the temperature was cooling off in the evenings. Outside there is an amazing willow tree providing shade. A large deck allows you to sit out and look at the night sky.
The Little Hacienda is well situated for Rifle and also for the Grand Mesa/ Mesa Lakes area. If you go to Grand Mesa take road 45 1/2 for some spectacular rock formations.
We would definitely stay here again .
We found the Hacienda to be very relaxing and inviting, as well as central located to many areas of exploration. It was beautiful sitting on the porch in the evening and seeing all the stars. There where many trails close by that we enjoyed hiking and some scenic byways there that were breath taking. Thank you Laura & Rich for sharing your property with us. I would recommend this place to others. Lisa L.
Slightly off the beaten path, this charming little southwestern hacienda is the perfect home away from home for a couple, a small family or group.
Centrally located, it is a short trip to Rifle and about 17 miles west of the Glenwood Springs area, where there is the world-famous Glenwood Hot Springs and Spa, the Fairy Caves Amusement Park, an entertaining Vaudeville production and plenty of dining choices.
In an hour heading west, you can reach Grand Junction, the wine country in Palisade or heading southeast you can visit the Aspen/Snowmass areas by means of an easy access to I-70 where you can enjoy a day of skiing or sightseeing. A little closer to Glenwood Springs at the Sunlight Mountain Ski area provides a full day of fun as well.
Heading north, for outdoor enthusiasts, there is access to the White River National Forest offering opportunities to view wildlife, hunt, fish, hike, snowmobile, cross-country ski, snowshoe, four–wheel drive, or take a leisurely drive to enjoy the views.
In just minutes you may enjoy water recreations at Harvey and Rifle Gap State Parks. And access to the Colorado River is just minutes away where you can fly-fish and raft. Within 10 miles is a moderate hiking trail to view the Rifle Arch.
This quaint house is surrounded by mountainous ridges and foothills, as well as rolling farm areas. From the front porch to the south you can view the different seasons on the North and South Mamm Peak mountain range, located in the White River National Forest. Looking to the west, the Bookcliffs of Rifle are visible.
This one bedroom, full bath home provides you ample space for relaxing after a long day of fun. There is a sleeper sofa (queen size) in the living room to accommodate two additional guests. The bathroom is accessible from the bedroom and living room area so guests staying in the living room need not disturb those in the bedroom.
A fully-equipped kitchen allows you the freedom to eat on your own schedule. Relax in the living room and enjoy satellite TV, wireless internet, or a book, while enjoying the warmth of a gas fireplace. The large front porch allows you to relax outdoors as you grill your meal or stargaze.
With our off-road parking we can easily accommodate travelers who may have trailers, from small tow-behinds to large horse trailers and four place snowmobile trailers.
If you are looking for a temporary place to stay because of a job transfer or you are visiting a local resident, our little house is a great solution to your needs. We welcome both short and long term stays.
