This dwelling was originally a log house kit, bought from Montgomery Ward, in 1940. It has since been refaced twice. Because of its age, you’ll find some quaint adaptations to accommodate its log house exterior frame. The latest remodel is in a southwestern fashion; that's why we affectionately refer to it as the Little Hacienda in Silt.
This little house, located 17 west of the Glenwood Springs area, is a one-bedroom house, with a sleeper-sofa. The one bathroom has a walk-in shower, a deep soaker tub, one toilet and Jack and Jill sinks. There is also an air conditioner and a gas fireplace. A special amenity is an in-house washer and dryer. All linens and towels are provided.
The bedroom has a queen-size bed, a desk, an end table and a chest of drawers. Connected to the bedroom is a walk-in closet.
The living room houses the sleeper-sofa (queen-size), a rocking chair, coffee table, and entertainment center.
For entertainment there is satellite television, Wi-Fi within the house, a book library and various games.
The kitchen has a stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee machine, dishwasher and refrigerator. The fully-furnished kitchen also includes a dining table for four, a charming old-fashioned ice box and all needed cooking and dining utensils. Although guests provide their own meals, there is a variety of seasonings, coffee and basic cooking staples to get started. A gas grill is available on the front porch with all necessary grilling tools.
The large front porch has a couple of double swings, chairs, side tables and a gas grill. The side entrance to the house allows for secure storage of various outdoor gear.
With our off-road parking we can easily accommodate travelers who may have trailers, from small tow-behinds to large horse trailers and four-place snowmobile trailers.
This little house is perfect for a temporary place to stay due to a job transfer or a visit with a local resident. Our Little Hacienda in Silt is a great solution to many needs. We welcome both short and long term visits.
Owners, Rich and Laura live on site, which makes checking in and out convenient. Any suggestions, questions, issues or concerns can be addressed immediately.
Rich and Laura are long-term residents of the Western Slope of Colorado, having been in this area for over 30 years. Being outdoor enthusiasts, our interests range from hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, backpacking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing as well as gardening. We are more than happy to share our knowledge of this area with our guests.
Laura and Rich Kolecki purchased this cabin in 2002
Working with the Colorado Division of Wildlife at the Glenwood Springs State Fish Hatchery for over 20 years, helped us fall in love with the area. We purchased the house in 2002 to be our retirement home. The sense of relaxation occurs when sitting on the porch viewing the mountain ranges.
Since our initial purchase and our actual retirement we decided to build a larger home on the property and now would like to share this little hacienda with others.
This is a quaint, southwestern style home with an adobe-type fireplace and cute tile work throughout the kitchen and bathroom. The covered front porch, with log pillars, entices you to sit down, relax, enjoy the view and life.
Laura and Rich were so friendly and kind! And their place was so great! Thank you so much!
One bedroom but spacious. Comfortable and nice view of the mountains. We would go back again.
My husband and I were lucky enough to spend an entire month at the Little Hacienda where our hosts, Rich and Laura, made us feel welcome and provided every comfort of home, including fresh vegetables from their garden. The cottage itself was lovely, well-equipped, clean as a whistle and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the gas fireplace on chilly evenings and the huge front porch overlooking the front yard was perfect for taking in the mountain views. Our dog had plenty of room to roam and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the horses we met on our long walks. We were within 20 miles of four towns that we enjoyed visiting throughout our stay. Glenwood Springs was a particular favorite since it is known for its hot springs, fine restaurants and historic attractions. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful place to visit and enjoy, we highly recommend and encourage you to make the Little Hacienda your vacation home. You'll be very happy you did!
We enjoyed our stay at the little Hacienda. It was very clean, roomy and stocked with all of the essentials. Unfortunately, we were only there for two nights, as we were in town for a wedding shower. We would have loved to stay longer to explore the area.
There are so many positive things I could say about this place! From the moment I requested to rent until I ended my stay Laura was helpful and showed an amazing commitment to making us feel at home! So much care was put into making this little house feel like home. From the decorations to all of the cooking supplies, fresh towels, and other added touches, it is obvious that Laura and Rich make hospitality a priority.
Upon arrival, we were surprised at how much space we had! The pictures really don't show how roomy the house is on the inside! We enjoyed having our coffee on the porch in the morning before heading out on our adventures!
On one of our first days here, Laura brought us an abundance of fresh produce from her beautiful garden! She also gave us some advice regarding some activities in the community and other things to do!
The house is very close to a grocery store (City Market) and the kitchen has everything you'll need to make a meal! My friend and I joked that "Everything tastes better in Colorado!"
We loved every moment of our stay and definitely intend on coming back soon!
We truly enjoyed our return trip to the little Hacienda. The hosts Laura and Rich always make you feel welcome and make it feel like your home for your stay. My husband, daughter, and myself can't wait for our next trip back!
