Amazing Beach House, Best View!
This house is really great. Very well set up kitchen. Comfortable beds. Amazing location!
Has more amenities than we could possibly use in a full week.
Thank you very much! We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure having you!
Great place to relax and chill. Views from back porch perfect. Lots of room in house for 6. Great kitchen area for organizing a few meals. The caretakers are great and very helpful if you need anything. Plenty of water and easy access to the public dock to keep a boat. Paddle boards, kayak, bikes. All there. Close enough to Hope Town but not TOO close. Can walk or rent a golf cart. Road to Hope Town is pretty bad, like off-roading in parts, but doable. Elbow Cart Rental is only one that rents to north Elbow and they commented they may stop because of the roads so might check with them first if you want a cart. Short walk to ocean side with better snorkeling if seas not too rough.
If all you want a nice place to relax and enjoy the water this is perfect. A real grand slam. Highly recommended.
We combed the island on our bikes, and we feel The Beach House is the best place to stay! A beautiful, private swim-able beach is right out in front, and just down the road you can access the beach on the Atlantic side. The house has a gourmet kitchen with wide open views of the water and very lovely furnishings. Since this is on the North Side, you do need a boat, a golf cart, or bikes. We rented bikes in town, and we also rented a golf cart from Wilma at Elbow Cay Cart Rentals (recommended). We also ordered groceries and alcohol ahead of time from Joanne at Abacobuzz dot com (also recommended) and they were waiting in the house when we arrived. The restaurants on this island have GREAT food, we really had an excellent meal everywhere we ate.
We enjoyed our stay on the north end. The home is well situated and comfortable. The roads are a bit of a nightmare, but nothing is perfect. All in all, we had a nice rest and a pleasant stay.
Unbelievably Perfect Slice of Paradise
We had high expectations based on the images and reviews for this house but I can't explain how blown away we were when we walked into this slice of heaven. The images don't even do the house justice - the house is super clean, light, breezy and literally on the beach. If you look out the window, you think you're floating.
We hired a boat that was moored at the free dock (2 mins walk away), the house came with a kayak but we also had 2 x stand up paddle boards delivered to the beach. Life couldn't be more perfect.
We also hired 2 x golf carts and we had two houses of family in town and this meant we could leave one in town for our visitors. It's probably a 10-15min walk into town so definitely recommend golf carts. We boated into town on one day but all the public docks were full. Thankfully the Marina Restaurant were super friendly and let us dock there (point being- golf carts are a must).
The house came with bikes too which was just delightful to ride into town. There were snorkels as well and we loved exploring the reefs around the point.
Finally, the neighbors were awesome - most we met lived up permanently and we got a great groove of drinks on the beach at sunset.
We had no issues with the internet (for emails etc) and the washing machine was really useful. I say this as all our friends in town had their washing machines locked up so we were grateful to be able to do the odd load throughout the week.
All in all, we will most definitely be back. Thanks Denise for sharing your beautiful retreat and to Elise for making is spick and span on arrival.
Fantastic location, well-maintained property
Beautiful quaint beach on the Sea of Abaco.
Hope Town is a unique town located around a beautiful harbour. Most of the attractions are close to the harbour. This includes restaurants, marinas, art galleries, pristine beaches, bars, playground for kids, a museum and more.
The North End public dock is 150m from the back door of the Beach House, with room to dock a rental boat free of charge if desired. A rental boat opens up a whole bunch of possibilities for day trips and outings. The local ferry service will drop off and pick up from this dock as well.
The island ( Elbow Cay ) runs north-south, and has two distinct sides, each with their own character - the 'Ocean' side, on the east, facing the Atlantic, and the 'Bay' or 'Sea of Abaco' side, on the west. Both sides are beautiful - the ocean side has coral reefs, crashing surf (depending on the wind) and gorgeous long beaches. It is a short walk, maybe 300m, out the back door to the ocean side beach - a beautiful beach to walk and a fantastic place to snorkel on a coral reef straight off the beach. When the wind is up and the waves are crashing it can be too rough to snorkel, but when there is no wind you can be rewarded with a terrific experience. One can walk all the way to town on this beach, and we often do. The bay side is more tranquil, has fewer beaches but the ones that exist are very special - notably Tahiti Beach in the south and Nathan's Bay in the north, directly in front of the Beach House. These are the perfect swimming and lounging beaches. The wind generally blows from the east so the beaches on the west side are sheltered, it is like being on a beautiful turquoise lake with a natural white sand beach and crystal clear water. Even at low tide the bottom is sand. One can pull a small boat up on the beach or anchor in waist deep water. Access to the North End road is somewhat restricted, so there is very little road traffic. The locals often bring their boats around to this beach on weekends for a few hours of enjoying the water with their families, confirming what a special place this is. We've been told many times 'You've got a real pretty spot here' by those who know... For the most part the beach is completely deserted though, it will feel like your own private paradise. Snorkeling from this beach is also enjoyable - you will see fish, can dive for conch or spear lobster.
For the hard core angler, there is almost every type of fishing available in the area. You can go offshore on the ocean side and bottom fish for large grouper or troll for tuna, dorado and wahoo. On the bay side you can hand line for pan fish, cast off the dock or beach, or go bone fishing in the mangroves behind Snake Cay.
Simply playing around on the beach in front of the house might be the most enjoyable of all. We have a few small boats available for use, a much used and much loved Sunfish, a small rowboat, a 2 man kayak and a small kid's kayak. Our caretaker will discuss some precautions and restrictions but provided you are comfortable using these boats you will be welcome to have fun with them.
After a day of playing in the sun, what could be better than relaxing on the porch or barbecuing while the sun sets right in front of you. There is a gas barbecue and a wood burning barbecue/smoker for the adventurous.
In general, Hope Town is a lot of fun, with a thriving social scene, and being 10 minutes away on an idyllic beach is hard to beat.
