A special and peaceful property - cozy, clean and bright, newly remodeled 1965 Joshua Tree home. Peaceful area with sweeping views of beautiful Joshua Tree through large windows in every room.
Situated well off the beaten path while close to conveniences.
We love that the house has a happy energy and that all the rooms are light and bright. We love watching the desert wildlife quail, jack rabbit, road runner, cotton tail, coyote, variety of song birds and the rare bobcat.
Each night the star-filled night skies take our breath away.
Based in Los Angeles, Jonathan grew up in NY and is an Alumnus of Columbia University, College Law School He is a retired music industry attorney. Judy grew up in Florida, attended Stetson University and is a makeup artist.
Reading, photography, curating interior spaces, painting are some of our favorite ways to pass time. We absolutely fell in love with Joshua Tree from first visit
Judy Haft purchased this house in 2010
We looked at many properties in JT. When we found the Larkspur house, we knew it was 'the one.' It has a very special healing feeling. The views are spectacular. We especially liked that it is in a neighborhood, so we don't feel isolated...yet the homes are spaced far apart enough to give wide nature views.
We updated the home by exposing the concrete floors, opening up a lot of the walls with beautiful sliding glass doors, a brand new kitchen and bath. All fresh & new
we are very closely located to the National Park entrance
Wonderful home with everything we needed during our stay. Very comfortable and well appointed, with and eye for detail.
Can't wait to return!
This is a nicely remodeled, simple home on a beautiful desert lot. Turning off the main road onto a route of narrow dirt lanes takes one away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to a serene desert oasis hide-a-way. Yet, it is convenient to the amenities of the town of Joshua Tree and pleasures of Joshua Tree National Park.
The clean modernist styling of the home is perfect for the serene location. Off of the main living space, two small bedrooms share a bathroom - cozy and manageable for a family of four (parents and two teens). The home is clean, well maintained, and uncluttered. The hammock is the place to be at any hour of the day. After active mornings climbing and hiking in the park (check out Cliffhanger Guides), we spent the afternoons lounging outside reading, relaxing, and being entertained by the abundant desert wildlife (birds, snakes, rodents), before heading out to dinner and musical entertainment in town and slightly beyond (check out Pappy's and Harriet's).
Many details were well appreciated, from the turntable with a nice collection of albums (David Bowie anyone?), to the high quality bath products and soft towels, to the comfortable furnishings inside and out, to the interesting objects in the yard. Addressing a few overlooked details would push this to a five star review: adding a microwave to the kitchen, providing a manual for using the range (it's not intuitive!), to installing more towel bars/hooks in the bathroom (enough for 4 bath towels and a hand towel or two).
All in all, Judy provides a lovely setting for an engaging and relaxing desert vacation. We look forward to returning.
Recommended. My wife and I (retired, from Boston) stayed in the Joshua Tree home for a week in March 2016. It is quiet, fully furnished, comfortable and very clean.
The location is very near one entrance to the National Park, where we spent much of our time. We drove one day to Indio and Palm Springs and one day to the eastern edge of the park. We had to decipher some new (to us) controls for television and oven, but enjoyed our stay very much. Use the (very complete) kitchen if you want any exotic food, as we found dining choices in the nearest towns rather limited.
This home has an excellent location near to the park entrance, and is situated steps away from the conservation park, making for a fantastic and secluded setting. The home owner was very gracious (and prompt) in all our interactions. The home is "as advertised"; mid-century modern, and thoughtfully furnished. Recently remodeled with all the conveniences. My personal favorite were the textile accents.
We had a gigantic full moon while we were there, and lovely peaceful nights, waking to the mourning doves. In the morning we watched jack rabbits and quail run around the property. We've come to JT every spring break for 8 years, and this has been our favorite home thus far. Thank you Judy!
My wife and I stayed for two nights and simply said - it was the perfect place for us. The property has an elegant, minimalist feel with a pano-view of the living canvas that is the desert valley and hills. I love how that ever-changing palette of color and light and shadow is visible from within the interior living space and the indoor and outdoor space become one when you open the sliding doors. Great acoustics and ambiance for music. My wife loved the coffee, the kitchen, the bathroom amenities, oh and the guitarist :-). Thank you Judy for taking care of all the logistics and preparing for our stay. When we come back to the jewel that is Joshua Tree, this is the place we will call home.
Just 3 miles from Joshua Tree National Park, and a few minutes from downtown Joshua Tree village. Nestled along the hills away from Park Boulevard. Quiet

The house is nestled in the most desirable neighborhood, close to the park. We have several neighbors typically spaced out on 5 acre lots.
This gives a great deal of privacy and beautiful wide views of the desert landscape.
With our neighbors in mind, we ask that you maintain a peaceful, respectful presence.
