This early 1900's farmhouse has been in the family for many generations. It is located at the foot of the scenic Hanging Rock State Park.
The house boasts an open air kitchen adjacent to the spacious living area. The kitchen has a side by side door refrigerator with ice and water. There is also a working 4 stove top oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cookware, utensils, dinnerware, glassware and a dishwasher. There is also a washer and dryer. The living room has a TV with local cable only.
There are two bedrooms that have full beds, with the bathroom on the ground floor.
Upstairs, the guest will find a beautiful open foyer with luminous windows. The bedroom upstairs currently houses one twin bed and one double bed. From this glorious view, the guest will be able to see the working cattle/horse barn across the road and possibly the three horses in the pasture nearby.
The house does have central heating and air, but that won't keep guests away from the front porch which has a swing and a porch set.
On the back porch, guests will find another couch, rocking chairs and a swing.
The property is unique because of it's location. It sits in the middle of a 480 acre farm that has been in the family for hundreds of years.
This property is located less than 10 minutes from Hanging Rock State Park and is actually on the Dan River. There are many beautiful and wonderful places to visit. Also, this is a working piece of property, so don't be surprised if you see or hear a tractor or horses being worked or cattle being fed!
Beautiful home. The owners were so amazingly friendly and helpful. I would encourage anyone to stay in this farmhouse that has easy walks to the river. Our kids really enjoyed the front porch! What a great view of Hanging Rock. Great to be able to walk to the river from the house. My kids enjoyed doing this every night.
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful house for 3 days. We enjoyed our stay so much. The owner was born and raised in this house and her parents built this house in the early 1900s. I loved the interior of the house and I just felt very comfortable. The owner was extremely friendly and pleasant, she made us feel at home and provided all the maps and infos for hanging rock state park and the area. We are definitely going back.
This house was lovely, and Linda was so friendly, helpful, and accomodating. The great part of this property is that you're renting her property as well. She has an adorable front porch with a swinging chair and rocking chairs, a yard to play cornhole (that she provides), and secret river access on her property to relax on without the crowds! The kitchen is fully stocked and she provides anything you need to grill out. She also provides bed linens and bath towels, which lightened our load a lot.
This house is in a great location too! It was about 10 or 15 minutes to Danbury, King, and Hanging Rock. There's so much to do in the area! Hiking to mountain tops or waterfalls, tubing, swimming, ziplining, kayaking, and more!
The only thing to consider is that there is only one full bathroom. It wasn't a problem for us, but I could see how it might be for others. There also isn't a whole lot of privacy. You must walk through one of the bedrooms to get from the living room and kitchen to the other bedrooms. Another bedroom door also would not stay closed. We were all comfortable with each other, so it didn't bother us, but it's something to consider.
