About Loocie Brown

In 2013 I was fortunate enough to find this most wonderful house nestled behind two pine trees, waiting for its new owner. It was originally the games keeper's house of the Nickerson Estate and has a wonderful history both inside and out. I renovated the house with the intention of it being welcoming to all. Some say when they enter, that it has the feeling of a big hug. Some just appreciate the calmness inside.

The grounds have been landscaped over the past 80 years to reveal a natural setting with a yard that stretches to the far woods. From those woods you can see into Nickerson Park. The Koi Pond also has been on the property many years. It is a delight to watch the fish circle and swim as they wait for a possible snack. Birds abound as well.

For me, this house, reflects all that I feel is important to me as the steward of this historic home. It brings me joy to be there and reminds me of the beauty of natural surroundings and a house whose history continues on.

Loocie Brown purchased this house in 2013

Why Loocie Brown chose Cape Cod

Privacy abounds inside and out at this Brewster home. Plantings sited to please the eye, and the senses throughout the seasons. Inside, the main bedroom has 1/2 bath en suite, two additional full baths are located at opposite ends of the house for convenience. New interior has been decorated with family favorites and newly acquired goodies. All bedding and linens are new.

What makes this house unique

Large, private, lushly landscaped yard, koi pond, artist's retreat - a small rustic cabin removed from the main house for playing or painting, perhaps some yoga. Play loft or hideout for reading, games, puzzles, private time. Ecologically conscious renovation of all systems assures allergen free atmosphere for peace and quiet. Dogs under 135 lbs, over 2 years old and well-mannered are welcome. Two maximum. Please, no cats. Extensive decking and screened-in porch. Walk to Nickerson Park or Linnell Landing beach. Our many freshwater ponds beckon.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Beautiful and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This house is such a sweet surprise! The pictures do not do it justice. The house seems to go on forever with plenty of comfy beds spread through the rooms. The yard is fabulous! The natural border combined with the front fence makes this yard serene and private. Everything you need is at your disposal, the kitchen is fully stocked as well as linens provided. We would love to see the yard in the spring or summer and will look forward to returning. Thank you for allowing us to bring our dogs and for the nice surprise toys you had there for them when we arrived as well as the sweet surprises for us. Your pride in your home and it's contents is obvious and we wish we could have stayed longer. The furnishings from the couches/beds, linens, books, and art are all well appointed and unique. Thank you again for accommodating an early check in time for us. We hope to come back soon!

Charming house in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the house on Koi Pond. It really does measure up to the other reviews, the house is charming, plenty of room, well appointed, and the yard is great for kids and dogs! Our only comment is Millstone Rd was busy during our stay.

Owner's Response: We appreciate this reviewer's comment and note that the road can be busy, usually only in that busiest of weeks in the very late summer. We have forwarded this comment to our town offices and will work with them for the safety and enjoyment of all.

An Oasis

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful spot to relax and play, just feet from the bike path. Although truth be told we spent most of our time chilling in the beautiful backyard that offers both a screened in dining deck and a large outdoor deck. Yard is very spacious with a lovely Koi Pond and great plantings. House is bright and well furnished with beds that are far more comfortable than even my bed at home. Whimsical room for the kids too and lots of nooks and crannies to explore, full of books and games. Lorrie is a wonderful hostess who let me know about all the local happenings during my stay. Kitchen is full of everything you need with an adorable breakfast nook. Can't wait to return.

Our New Favorite Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our new favorite retreat - bring your peeps and food; everything else you could possibly want is here. Like the house, all of the furniture is welcoming: good looking, well made and comfortable, as if the owners lovingly treasured this space for their own dear ones, rather than renters. Each of us fell in love instantly, and it’s hard to say what we liked the best. The lovingly landscaped grounds, the spacious deck, the serene screened porch, the reading nooks… Amenities abound: the kitchen and baths have both modern and whimsical flair. The kids’s room will delight. Top notch design skills are evident everywhere. Our must-haves list was met, too, since there’s a laundry room and there are ceiling fans every place you could want them. Games and books provided traditional family entertainment, and perfectly placed cable TV’s were there, too. We were warmly greeted by Lorrie, the property manager. We enjoyed her recommendations and knew that if anything came up, we’d have no worries. If you want a charmed getaway, this is the place.
