Great location, fair apartment amenities. Overall would recommend this apartment

  • 3 of 5

We stayed 9 weeks, so had a good feel of the pros and cons.

Fantastic location, in the Marais district. Within 5 minute walk to: 2 different Metro lines; a full size grocery store; pharmacies; boulangeries; cheese stores; butcher; produce sellers; tons of smaller stores and cafes and restaurants. Area: lots of night life; many people around; feels very safe even when walking back late.

Good size by Parisian standards. Roomy bedroom, good closet space. Separate dining space. Kitchen small, but very well laid out and functions well when cooking. Was quite clean. Bathroom lighting very good for putting on makeup. The apartment faces the interior courtyard of the building, so on hot days the apartment was cooler than out on the street. WiFi works well. The combo clothes washer/dryer worked well to wash, slow drying time but a drying rack was provided.

Horrible bed. My husband traveled extensively for work for 15 years, and this bed was one of the worst he has ever been on. Thin mattress, extremely uncomfortable, could feel the wooden support slats through the mattress.

The apartment overall has a tired, worn feel which doesn’t show up in the listing pictures. Lots of Ikea type furniture, some needs replacement or fixing. Old shower/tub fixtures. Uneven flooring, lots of broken or loose tiles. Couch has missing support slat at one end, sags noticeably. Lights broken and not fixed.

Apartment on the American 6th floor, uses a winding staircase 94 steps up to the apartment. No elevator available.

The building door from the street into the courtyard broke in the 2nd week. 7 weeks later still not repaired, propped open all the time, allowed street noise to reach apartment, so may need earplugs to sleep.

Kitchen utensils are basic. The can opener is the kind where you make a series of cuts and leaves the can and lid with a jagged edge. Only two bowls provided. No pot big enough to cook pasta. Extremely dull knives, hard to cut with. Kitchen towels stained and have holes.

The bedroom, living room, dining areas are very dark even in the middle of the day. Need to turn on all lights at all times in order to read, but it makes for a great sleeping environment.

The neighbor directly across courtyard throws parties, loud music, people shouting. He refused to lower the volume even when other neighbors yelled at him multiple times. Some parties lasted until 4:00 a.m. You may need earplugs to sleep on his party nights.

Owner's Response: I'm really sorry about the negative points that you just mentioned and I took note. However to enhance your stay you should have said it earlier in different emails that we had so far. I am nevertheless reassured that overall you recommend the apartment.

Great location, very charming apartment

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter and I stayed here in mid-December for 3 nights. The location is fantastic - short walk to Notre Dame, short walk to the St. Paul metro, and its close to lots of bakeries, cafes, brasseries and is in a very charming old section of Paris called Le Marais. Unless you have trouble walking the steps to the 6th floor, I highly recommend staying here. The apartment has everything you need although we didn't spend much time there other than sleeping. Really nice that there is a washer/dryer in the apartment, came in handy mid-trip for us to be able to do some laundry. Elisa was very helpful with everything and it helped make our first trip to Paris fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.

Un séjour très agréable

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped, cozy flat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy and nicely appointed flat. Great location in the Marais. We stayed here with our two children in November 2015. Kitchen and bathroom are modern with new appliances. Beds were comfortable. Photos of furnishings are accurate. Elisa and Dimitri were easy to work with and responsive. They provided basics that made the stay easier like dish soap, kitchen sponge, laundry soap, sugar, tea, and other kitchen basics.

We didn't have issues with either of these but an older person might so I mention them here: It is a lot of stairs up to the flat. Also, the bathtub/shower is very high so stepping in and out could be difficult for an older person.

Overall great stay and I would rent this flat again.

Location, Location, Location

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is a little dated but it has great space. A reasonably sized kitchen and dining area, a living room space and a large separate bedroom and bath that has a washer/dryer combination, a rarity in Paris. The kitchen is a bit sparse for equipment but we still managed to make a meal. It has a very comfortable queen size bed. The apartment is located in the St. Paul neighborhood which features many sidewalk cafes and restaurants as well as serious clothes shopping options for those inclined. It is a short 2 blocks to the Right Bank of the River Seine and from there you can walk to Notre Dame Cathedral, the Latin Quarter and the Louvre Museum all within 20 minutes. Subway and bus lines are just a short walk from the apartment. Our hosts met us upon arrival and were very helpful in getting us acquainted with the apartment, the neighborhood and Paris. One note of concern, it is 94 steps from the courtyard to the front door of the apartment so pack lightly if you can. It makes for a great leg workout.

Excellent apartment and location

Apartment comfortable, cute and clean with excellent location. Two good beds of which one is a sofa bed. TV only in French and on 5th floor with

a very steep spiral staircase and no elevator but otherwise great. Would highly recommend.
