Hurricane Hideaway is the perfect destination for your vacation. No detail has been overlooked in any direction your eye may wander. The decor is thoughtful as well as the cozy comfort of the furnishings. The tasteful wall art creates a mountain cabin mood that will bring you back again. There is a huge loft area with futon offering an extra space for relaxing, playing games or sleeping. You will think you have experienced the best a cabin can offer until you step outside and realize a whole other level of relaxation. A covered front porch is the perfect place to sit and watch the deer that appear regularly. The day I went to preview this cabin I drive up to the cabin and stop to capture this scene. The homeowners are sitting on the front porch in rocking chairs while cradling a cup of coffee and watching a deer eating in front of the house. I sat there and too found myself relaxing while watching the beauty of nature. The master bedroom is beautifully decorated. Enjoy the decadence of having your own private bath as well as a private wetbar area complete with a coffee maker and refrigerator.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We took a family trip and everybody loved it, the only bad part was that inside the house was full of stinky bugs everywhere and it was very discornfort for all of us but besides that we loved it and hope we can go back again soon!

Stinkbugs & Ladybugs Galore! A few roaches too! Oh my! I think the bugs ate the girl scout cookies!

  • 2 of 5

While the actual property is nice, my first impression upon arriving was that I was surprised that rental agency didn't make sure the property was cleaned before our arrival. After the long drive, my first stop was the bathroom. I counted a dozen dead bugs littering the bathroom floor, window sill and countertop. We could not spend the first evening in the main floor family room bc the stink bugs kept landing on my daughter. After relocating to the loft to play a game, we watched the stink bugs chase the ladybugs around the bowl of the light fixture and noticed how as the stink bugs would fall off the light they would fall down toward us and fly back up before hitting us! The base of the bowl of that light fixture was filled with dead stink bugs. One son noticed piles of dead ladybugs by his bed. I put a crockpot of stew on in the morning before spending the day skiing. When we returned to the home and began to dish out the stew...a STINK BUG had managed to get in the stew! Later, one of the kids made popcorn. He didn't notice the stink bug on top of the salt shaker so, it ended up in the popcorn. I had to wipe the stink bugs out before getting into bed at night. Some ladybugs were saved before playing pool but others went unnoticed until later found smushed on the table. We are foreign missionaries, so I am not talking about an occasional bug. If this would have been any other family, they would have left. This was an infestation. Why did I not call the rental agency in charge? I didn't want some exterminator coming out and spraying poison while my family was there! The house itself is nice. The amenities were nice, but if the rental agency is not more on top of things than this, I could not recommend this place. I am sorry for the family because on the family side it is obvious that they have attempted to make a lovely getaway retreat. It didn't take spending the night in the house to see that there was a problem. We recognized it in the first 30 minutes. Beyond that, this was quite a bit of money for my family to spend for a weekend getaway only to have to share it with bugs. Oh! The main floor bathroom had roaches thankfully the boys used that bathroom so us girls wouldn't have to! The day we checked out, we loaded the car to go on a hike, when I opened the trunk to grab a water bottle, I discovered that a one stink bug had made it into my car! I give positive 2 stars bc nice home in quiet neighborhood. PS. the jacuzzi ph was low.

Nice size rooms, good lay out, cozy, quiet mountainside cabin

  • 4 of 5

Loved the game room&jacuzzi! Enough room for the 12 of us. Great decks. Nice lake w boats to use and playground for the kids. Unfortunately, the house is on the side of a mountain ,so they couldn't really play outside around the house anywhere. We had a great time with our family for Thanksgiving. We brought an extra folding table&few chairs so I recommend the same if u plan to have a sit down dinner together. The lady bugs&other bugs were everywhere&a nuisance, but we get that we're in a cabin in the woods, so guess that's normal up here? We just vacuumed them up every morning. Hard to get hold of anyone when we have a question, but day or 2 later we got a call back both times. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this place was fantastic...except the game room. Now I realize why it was called Hurricane hideaway. The whole basement is 100% decked out in Miami Hurricanes memorabilia. As a fan of a different ACC team, it was a big nauseating to spend time down there. I'm talking green walls, hurricanes clocks, hurricanes lights over the pool table, hurricanes coasters, pictures, and even Miami hurricanes toothbrush holder in the bathroom.

We still enjoyed the house immensely, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hates the Hurricanes.
