Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

If you want to know what tiny home living is like then try this cabin. Compact, neat, and just the right size for a couple and two kids.

A little small but very nice.

  • 4 of 5

Nice, quiet "cabin" in rural area. Very clean and nicely furnished. All the kitchen supplies, (minus perishable food) and bathroom supplies you will need. Met Becky, the owner, and she was great. On the down side the private acreage isn't as private as we thought it would be as Becky's house and another house are about 50 yards away. The photos make the "cabin" look bigger than it is, such as the loft appearing (at least to us) as a full size room. It actually has a very low roof with about a maximum height of 4 feet if that. But it could be a good place for kids to sleep. It is actually a single wide trailer, although a very nice one. It makes for a very nice, if a little cozy, retreat.

Overall a nice place, just smaller than we thought it would be.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us. Our cabin is fully disclosed at 400 square feet with one bedroom and a sleeping loft (plus a pull out couch for additional sleeping space). We have tried to post pictures that will show its amenities and fairly represent its cozy and rustic feel. We are happy to share our little cabin on our privately owned 40 acre parcel as an alternative to being "in town" or on a busy street with lots of noise and people. For those who enjoy a simple, quiet, clean and peaceful place to stay in the mountains, we know you will enjoy it here.

Nice and cozy

  • 3 of 5

The cabin itself was very nice and cozy and had everything we needed for a few days stay. The property was beautiful and we had a lot of fun visiting the surrounding lakes. However, we did feel we got a little taken advantage of… The owner took money from our deposit for stains on curtains and other things in the cabin that we did not make. They also charged us because we were unable to vacuum the floors and clean the cabin like we wanted because the power completely went out over the surrounding area on our last days visit, leaving us with no electricity or water to clean. We let the owners know, and did the best we could but still got charged and felt that it was a little unfair. So I would just advise the next renter to be aware of previous stains when you first get there so you don't get charged with them when you leave. Other than that, we had a great time.

Owner's Response: We are sorry if there was any misunderstanding regarding the condition of the cabin. In all fairness to future guests, we will include the list of items we sent to the guest, which had nothing to do with vacuuming, which we do not ask guests to do. Items were: kitchen curtain stains (red sauce on white lace), kitchen upholstery, sand in dryer, re-wash dirty dishes, replace towels used for cleaning/stained, replace table cloth (red/yellow paint it looked like), re-finish stove top. Our desire is to offer a clean, comfy, peaceful place at a reasonable cost for our guests to enjoy. The only time we will ever take part of a deposit is to cover the cost to replace damaged items. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to respond to this issue. We are happy to be upfront and honest.

Cozy and quiet

  • 5 of 5

I thought the property was very quaint and I loved that there were items stocked in the cabin in case you forgot anything. The only downfall was no cell service and we couldn't communicate with the rest of our party that was staton about 10 minutes down the road so we had to plan the night before what the agenda was in order to meet. Other than that I loved it and would stay at this location again for sure! Also we met the owner and she was a very sweet lady with loads of info about the area!

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us. As we note in our VRBO listing, cell reception is sketchy here in our valley, but one can usually place a text (sometimes even a call) outside the cabin. Part of the blessing of quietness we love here!

beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at The Cabin with my 18year old son and 21 year old daughter and her boyfriend. The cabin is cozy and far away from town and city lights. For four adults it was good, however I slept in the loft and an adult can only sit in the loft area on the bed or floor. If you have children they would love sleeping in the loft! There are even games to play and fans to use if hot!

My son slept on the fold out couch and my daughter and boyfriend loved the bedroom and kept saying they would stay there again!!

We cooked breakfast and their are plenty of pans, dishes and food stuff to access.

The owners were very pleasant and unobtrusive, and helpful at the same time. The roads in and out from the cabin to Durango and surrounding area were easy to use and the directions are spot on. Only 35 minutes to the La Plata/ Durango Airport.

I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone visiting the area because it is so central and accessible. 25 minutes into Durango.

There is Direct TV and they have a great selection of videos, DVD's and even Vinyl records! Especially kids videos, which my 21 year old daughter loved!!!!

The Wi-Fi was spotty at times late at night, but hey, Your on vacation!! Enjoy the the down time!!

Definitely this is a thumbs up place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone!!!!

All the directions and descriptions were as shown, well maintained, clean and comfortable.

We visited Mesa Verde, about an hour away, and Durango and Pagosa Springs, all easily accessible from the cabin.

There were plenty of brochures and information in the cabin about the surrounding area as well as bird watching books and binoculars!!

You can't ask for much more......................

Was grateful we found it.
